which is why anduin needs to die
Fair enough. I expect (or at least hope) that we'll see Anduin face some actual challenges throughout this expansion. The siege of Lordaeron is definitely going to hurt his chances of making peace with the Horde.
Although I like the idea of a more unified Azeroth, it would be so much more interesting if Sylvanas actually succeeded in "killing hope" within Anduin and he became bitter and spiteful. Given the aforementioned personality of his father, it would feel pretty appropriate.
Man is it just me or does nearly all plate armor in this game look ass?
Just you. Though admittedly, certain sets only look good on certain races, and that's especially true for plate armour.
Leather armor looks best imo
For sure. I'm trying to find a 'mog I'd like for a troll warrior and it's rough.
Though, Trolls in general are hard to 'mog for.
Well, this set will be added in BfA. You get it from doing islands expeditions. It's missing a belt though.
imagine the day when blizzard stops fucking painting armour on bodies.
They would need to completely overhaul their armor and character systems though
The current system is using specific UV maps/geosets/parts of model on the character body where the game applies the armor texture. This also creates bad texture seams on the arms, because the chest and arm is a separate UV map channel/model.

If you export a character model via WMV and open up any WoW character model in 3DS Max and edit UVWs, you'll see the seams and where the textures separate from each other.
Each armor slot has its own UV map channel, so for a chest piece, there's a specific slot, for arm pieces there is specific slot and so on. Here's how the UV maps are separated. It's best if you see it visually.

The game basically pulls an armor texture and "bakes" it onto the current character model. The new features where you see actual 3D model attached to the character when equipping an armor is basically a hack of the shoulder/head attachment system, since what I assume is that you previously couldn't attach a model to a bone that was already used by the character itself for model deformation, due of there being specific bones for shoulders and helmets on the skeleton that are not weighted to anything.
Now if you say "But if you equip specific legs/hand pieces, they are 3D!", I've got a surprise for you. They're already a part of the 3D model. This also explains why each part of the WoW model has specific UV map when you export it through WMV. If you decompile the M2 model (WoW's model format) and import it into a 3D editor, you'd see that the character model is composed of a lot of meshes. These meshes are called "geosets" and the game loads and unloads them when it receives a call to do so.

Now you might kinda understand why they won't change the "paint a flat texture onto the body" armor system. It would be too much work to fit each armor for each race, and they already have to do that for each shoulder and helmet item. There's also a reason why we won't see any new race anytime soon that isn't just a retexture of some other race. There's just too much shit to refit for two new character models.
I think the best thing they could do to improve the armor further on is to implement the usage of displacement map textures and normal map textures, but someone would need to code in the shader support into WoW for that shit to work in the first place, and we already know that WoW is 15 years worth of spaghetti code where changing the bag space size would break the game in some kind of horrible way.
english doc
shits hard
Speaking of the female Worgen model, I was editing it at one point to see how it looked without the mane. A lot of people have suggested that the mane be hidden when equipping helmets since it clips through everything and generally looks like ass. As it turns out, the mane is actually part of the female Worgen's head and hiding it leaves you with this:

I don't suspect we'll be seeing the suggested feature on this model at any point.
I mean if they're redoing the model from scratch (and if Blizz even delivers and I won't have to blast Little Lies by Fletwood Mac with Ions picture up if 8.1 comes up with no new worgen models as promised) it maybe be possible?
Anyway, I was trying to fix the snarl by editing the textures and ONLY moving the vertices on the model to not break any compatibility or the rig or the UVs (game will crash or break the model if you change the rigging or UVs)

Blizzard did something REALLY funny with the models in Legion where the model is incredibly broken when compared to WoD or MoP (only WoW version I had backed up) versions of the model. Because of new stuff and animations I had to work with the 7.2.5 version of the model, but gave up and shelved the whole project because of Blizzard destroying somewhat safe mod support with the 7.3 patch, and now has to be memory injected due of the executable being encrypted after they dropped XP and 32bit support.I only needed to adjust the textures to make them look better and fix the upper lip to remove some clipping introduced with specific animation and it would be finished. Now it will never be because I don't want to risk getting banned for hacking.
Yea, I was talking the current model. Also, Worgen models were definitely not promised for 8.1- Blizzard's statements on the models since 6.0.2 (the vanilla model updates) have been:
"Worgen models will be updated at a future point in time."
"We're not working on them right now."
"We'd like to update them."
"We're not working on them right now."
"We recognize that players care about these models... but we're not working on them right now."
"Worgen models will be updated at a future point in time."
You know what's REALLY funny? They already have updated goblin models for almost 3 years now.

If worgens don't get a much needed update in BfA, I'm buying a plane ticket to US to just egg Ion's house
You mean this Goblin?

Eh, I prefer the far-superior in-game model! /s

So for transmogging purposed, I'm making a dreaded journey back into Warlords. What's the best way to farm Iron Horde Scraps?
heroic dungeons
most bosses drop a helmet shoulder or belt token, most trash mobs drop scraps.
I just farmed grimrail depot over and over again.
I'd say there's a faster way (for scraps at least).
Go to the Iron Docks on normal and kill every mob you can find before the first boss. Loot 'em, reset, repeat until you have the scraps you need. After that, switch to heroic, and kill bosses until you have all the other stuff.
If you're talking about stormheim I think they left the story a little under developed but the alliance and horde weren't supposed to drop in to the same spot but then when the alliance found sylvannis's navy things went hot.
also we still have more airships, always more of those things. Idk why they don't have them in BFA but then we're also forgetting the lightforged/dreani and their spaceship too
warcraft 3 remaster is gonna be announced this year, absolutely.
One can hope.
so I just got a chest in darkshore and ya nobody is there anymore, there were 30 alliance in the zone, absolutely no horde and it dropped a 215 bracer that didn't even touch my 225 bracer.
hope next week is better blizz.
So 110 boosts don't get a full Garrison? Weird. I get that it's obsolete content, but I don't see why they wouldn't give it to you when 100 boosts did.
For some reason they don't. Easy way to get around this is make a class trial, log in, do the intro stuff, log out, and THEN boost.
weird that seems like an oversight.
I'm really loving this legacy loot thing they did.
Shame with the chest bug
Jeez I replayed the war of the thorns on a new character and god damn even leaving the burning of Teldrassil to the side for a second, can we just talk about how awful Sylvanas is at carrying out her own plan? Like she wants to kill Malfurion to demoralize the night elves. Sure.
So why is it that when the moment comes to do it, she decides to leave it to the guy that not only hates her guts, but hates any acts of dishonor to perform an incredibly dishonorable act in her name? Like fucking what? What reason is there for that but to just move the plot towards "fuck it burn tree".
And I swear if the Siege of Lordaeron releases and somehow it all comes as a surprise to her after Darkshore, I'm just gonna chalk it up to the maggots in her brain leaving her legally brain dead.
I still can't get over the massive sense of deja vu this pre-patch is causing tbh. The old solider cinematic is a nice hint that maybe Blizzard don't want the Horde to be the bad guys through and through, but that just makes me think we are going down the Garrosh 2.0 route.
The difference being that Garrosh's arc was actually well executed. He got into power, radically changed the direction of the Horde- developed new siege weapons and renovated orgimmar in a new more warlike image. The he steadily went off of the deep end, committing more and more despicable acts as time went on, with the other leaders constantly conspiring against him- before he was finally defeated in a revolution.
Sylvanas on the other hand- got into power, did effectively nothing for a whole expansion- appearing literally once in the legion plot line- going completely silent for years- before doing anything. And when she did something, it wasn't just really evil, but also really dumb, effectively starting her reign as leader, a few years late, by committing a war crime out of nowhere, and pissing everyone off.
I can't resent her as a character in the same way I could resent Garrosh because there's nothing there to hate. That one evil undead character that was always something of a bad egg, got some real power and did bad stuff. Imagine my shock.
