I've been playing through it and I didn't notice much lag during blight town, not that I really stay in that area for long.
I didn't notice any framedrops in Blighttown when I went through it on the Switch version.
Funny thing is, I accidentally skipped the majority of Blighttown my first playthrough. I never actually found the Lower Undead Burg so instead I ended up slogging my way through Darkroot Basin and up the Valley of Drakes until I stumbled on the New Londo shortcut. So I didn't understand any of the complaints I saw about Blighttown until my second playthrough. At that point I definitely understood lol
Blighttown is no joke my favorite area in DS1. If I ever made a DS mod I'd keep it the exact same, just add a self insert npc that does nothing but talk about how much he likes Blighttown.
just dropping by to reaffirm my love for the Beasthunter Saif
I entered Blighttown through the Valley of the Drakes after completely missing the existence of the lower Undead Burg, and said to myself "logically the bell must be in a high place" and explored everywhere except Quelaag's side of the swamp. What ensued was several hours of climbing my way upwards scouring the entire thing for some sign of progress not knowing that going there is almost completely superfluous if you go in through the Valley, only finding a locked door at the top for my troubles.
I made the mistake of going down to Ash lake after Quelaag on my very first run. It was not worth the 3 hour detour.
I heard that the Switch version is just a port of "Prepare to Die" and not a remastered version, or was it some Xbox PS4 > Switch bias? Not that I don't really mind when it comes to Soulsborne, but a less shit Blighttown will be a nice incentive apart from taking the game on the go.
Just bought the DS3 dlc on sale, never got around to playing it. I'm hoping it's in the same caliber as the rest of the series, but from what I see, it looks pretty great.
The Switch version is the remastered version with all the bells and whistles, but without the shader improvements and with compressed audio.
Playing through Prepare to Die Again, it's pretty good but the highlight is absolutely finding and fighting a GiantDad NPC in the Darkroot Garden.
I think the Valley of Defilement is the best-worst stage. While Blighttown is icky, VoD is petrid full of disgusting enemies, trash of immense qualities that form the platforms, and discarded fetuses come to life by the fog. What did the knights of Boletaria think they were going to do down there?
Been playing DS2SotFS again, and decided to see if I could summon Ruined Aflis for the Pursuer fight and... https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/110377/1152e288-c2ab-4e1f-a03e-0e7e6fd0b9a9/335300_20190111235519_1.png Pursuer... Aflis... You two alright over there? Can you, like, come back?
It's a nice coastal view and they just wanted to share it after being apart for so long.
This Chinese guy keeps invading me, but he's super bad at PvP to the point where on his last invasion (his 4th so far) I had a sliver of health left and no Estus and I still beat his ass like it was nothing, and I'm trash at PvP normally.
I've been playing DS, 2 and 3 all at once, it's so hard but they're all so different and fun.
I know what you mean, but i can't help imagine you running all three games at once and controlling them at the same time with one gamepad
I thought blighttown was annoying but that was because I missed the bonfire at the swamp. I thought the sewer was some serious bullshit. I kept getting lost in it and my claymore kept getting caught on the walls
I don't have that kind of skill but I'm sure some crazy runner out there can do it.
He was training, like in the montage from Mulan. Eventually he's going to master the fundamentals to the point where he can parry every attack, then he'll perfect every weapon type until he grows bored and decides to destroy all in his path with just the ladle. Or maybe he'll just remain mediocre. idk
Playing Daughters of Ash, I've reached Tomb of Giants and Anor Londo so far, decided on a whim to run past the Hellkite Drake to figure out why it was so god damn aggressive and I think the disappointment from what I found just flatlined any desire left to play this mod. Combined with the ridiculous enemy resistances, placements, silly progression changes and the fact heavy gauntlets seem to boost your attack for no reason, it's just been an experience of confusion and tedium that doesn't feel worth the effort. I commend the modder for the amount of work put into it but it just doesn't feel like a good experience. If there's anything positive, it's that I really want to play vanilla DS1 again.
Mod also shows why Tomb of the giants is dark. The area was clearly not meant to be in clear view, as there's detatched and nonsensical geometry all over that would normally not be visible. However, it does give you a clear view to see those giant rooms you got into a few times are in fact giant coffins.
Is it the runes? I heard the mod adds a ton of "boosts" to the character to get past the new areas, though what confuses me is that we already have health and stamina consumables and weapons that increase damage with raised stats so why throw all these runes in?
the runes seem to only do anything if you're using an Enchanted weapon (renamed to "Runic" or something). which makes them absolutely useless the only one i could get to work was the Wraith rune, which... just gives you the ring of fog effect
GLORY TO CAINHURST
My head canon is that that Sekiro is Bloodborne 2 set in the far east.
Is that Dark Souls: The Age of Fire comic worth reading, looks neat.
Well...the cover art and the backgrounds are cool. The story is unfortunately nothing to write home about imho. A ton of stuff is left out for the sake of just keeping everything tied to DS1 only. I put up a retrospective in the last subthread but I can't find it. The ending is hilariously bad. The character models are something to behold. No context. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/133007/0d80dacc-7440-45af-9404-715810f54a67/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/133007/149d2a56-1d46-438f-8322-6cee456fb002/image.png
Estus Seller, I am going into battle and I need your strongest Estus.
Why on earth are there DS2 black dragon knights exploring New Londo when DS2 took place ages into the future where New Londo didn't exist anymore. This shit pisses me off SO much.
