And he has my favourite ashes description for it. Patches never lost heart, and never looked back. He marched in one direction, and that direction was dead ahead. Did you see him passing by?
Daughers of Ash is pretty ass.

I just got a friend into bloodborne. She's never played a souls game before and she picked this up like she's been playing em for years. I did kinda help her cheese the first boss by virture of me being a level 125 arcane build. I'm excited to get her into the rest of the games.
I wish my friends were interested in trying out games like this. Alas, they believe Bloodborne is too hard and they aren't patient enough to give it a proper chance.
A friend of mine who hates all the souls games played BB for like 30 mins round mine and immediately bought a PS4 and basically played nothing but BB for like 2 months.
She grew up playing a lot of the original nes megaman games, which are pretty damn hard. She'd been talking about wanting to get into the soulsborne series for a year or so, but a few weeks ago she mentioned how much she loves fast paced super hard games. So I bought her a copy and here we are. It also helps that she adores the visuals of bloodborne, tho she knows nothing about the really fucked up lovecraftian shit. Can't wait to see what she thinks post Rom
Got around to playing a dex build, having a bit of fun with it. First got the Uchi by murdering the merchant, that carried me all the way through til I could get Quelaag's Furysword, which then melted O&S like bugger. Wish i'd tried this path years ago lol
Quelaag's Furysword will always remain one of my favorite weapons from the whole series, both for its gameplay and, shall we say, emotional factor
Keep us updated!
Playing through DSIII again makes me appreciate the QoL they added in, and some of the incredible bosses. I'm close to the end-game, and I'm excited to start the DLC for the first time!! I heard great things about Ashes of Ariandel. I'm still saddened that they basically retconned DSII, and removed a lot of cool mechanics from it. For all the problems that DSII had, I think it had such a cool theme and set of "important characters". The fact that Aldia barely gets a mention in III sucks, especially because of how important he is.
I still hate how they removed the dual wielding system from DS2. But other than that, yeah, I loved replaying DS3 at my gf's place after taking a break for like a year or smth. Finished it on her PS4 in like two days and had an absolute blast. Actually made me want to revisit every game in the series, starting with Demon's Souls. I also never really touched Scholar despite owning it for years. It's gonna be fun to see what changed from OG DS2. Not to mention the new final boss.
I played through Second Sin (DS2 mod) and I'm not sure it's an exact improvement. Gameplay-wise, at times yes, sometimes it's worse. But it really fucks up the lore by putting enemies (and bosses) in places they don't belong at all. However, when I came in the Drangleic Castle room expecting to fight the Two Dragonriders, I fucking shat bricks when I saw they had been replaced by Ornstein and Smough (or something close enough to Smough). In retrospect, it's not that hard to predict and it was kinda cheap, but it was still awesome. Deffo better than the Dragonriders. But overall, it was not the straight improvement I was hoping for. I still had a hell of a time, but I think it's me getting used to DS2. I certainly like this game the more I play it! But I hope someone will make another mod that improves the base game in the details.
I'm guessing you mean SotFS? If so, man, you're gonna have a blast with the DLC. It's a definite high point of the series imo (excludin Lud & Zallen)
Honestly I think if you're rating the Dark Souls games you should rate the DLC separately, since most of it will be above the base games. I'd put DSII near the bottom of the list, but the DSII DLC would be near the top. Not the very top, it still has some DSII BS, but damn close.
I've now finally completed DSIISotFS with all the bosses killed, DLCs included. Also fuck Frigid Outskirts. It seemed cool at first but it's actually lazy and boring.
Don't bother with Horsefuck Valley. There's nothing of value there.
that's a lie https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/302829/081e4890-e1b6-483d-b346-12bd026b3534/Ring_of_the_Living.png the ring of lookin' cool is there
I still rate DS3 pretty highly, but totally. DS1, DS2, and BB had impeccable DLC bosses and areas and weps (especially BB on god). DS3 is still my least-liked game in the series (which isn't a bad thing. I absolutely love 3), but I've heard really good things about Ringed City/Painted World and the bosses.
I mean low in terms of Souls games. In terms of games overall it's pretty high up.
Ah yes, that one area of Dark Souls II were, after beating the whole game and all the other DLC, I finally quitted once and for all. If anything, if you do manage to reach the end of it you get to fight an optional boss which is basically the DLC's opening encounter, but now there are two of them, 'cause artificial difficulty sure is fucking nice, is it not?
I agree Horsefuck Valley itself is terrible, but Lud and Zallen wasn't really that hard of a boss fight? being around for when the dlcs slowly released one-by-one, i was more than prepared for each of the dlc's and that area and boss i completed i think on my second-ish try? Dual-Mace build really worked wonders at the time.
Summoning all 3 ghosts at the beginning of the level is pretty much mandatory. Even if you survive the trip alone, the two tigers will whoop your ass and take turns at it.
Bosses will always differ per person. I beat Alonne on my second try, but Lud & Zallen annihilated me for quite a bit. Not to mention, Lud & Zallen is probably one of the worst designed bosses in the series. Which is a shame, because Aava is a pretty cool and powerful fight when you first get to it.
I'm so mad at finding out the invincible ghosts in Sunken City have a really easy mechanic for killing them, the developers just decided to hide the tutorial room for it on a side path that's easily missed so your first encounter with them (like mine), can be trying to dodge spells while walking on a floor that constantly damages you and then these enemies that you actually can't damage appear. God Dark Souls 2 annoys me, at least the team behind the first game put a drop for Transient Curses right in the middle of the main path near the start of New Londo Ruins so it's literally unmissable, and their item description explains the mechanics clearly.
I feel observing and eventually finding the solution to a problem is more satisfying than just being given the item that fixes it at the entrance to the zone.
Sure, but again the room that allows you to observe the solution is on a side path and easily missable. That's the main issue here, you almost can't miss the transient curses, the level design is so bad that your first encounter with those enemies can very easily be a room where the solution to the problem is multiple rooms away in a completely different area.
About that particular area, I'm more annoyed by the fact that they hid the bonfire behind a secret passage that requires you to hit a semi-hidden button while trying to prevent getting fucked up by all those potentially invincible ghost knights.
Horsefuck Valley is my worst Dark Souls -experience bar none. Took me forever to get to the boss, then I saw what it was and I think tried once more and went "Yeah it's not worth it."
I've been replaying Bloodborne after not touching it for like a year and a half. Still an incredible experience. Managed to grab the Burial Blade in a Chalice Dungeon immediately after killing the BSB so I've been able to use it properly in NG and it's fucking amazing. Already sad that I'm getting closer to the end. I really wish they would make a Bloodborne 2.
