To be fair, when most of your lore is hidden in item descriptions and environmental clues it's to be expected that people will read too much into absolutely everything
If you're talking about PvP then spears/ pikes aren't bad, but halberds are probably better for their moveset.
oh, we will for sure end up killing our "master" in sekiro
Reinforced club might be a problem given that I killed the undead merchant for his uchi :v
Guess i'll have to try another weapon
I've been doing a Partizan run and it's a ton of fun, the moveset is much varied than most spears Poke/Hard Poke/Running Poke
Almost a mini halberd
Just finished Daughters of Ash. In my honest personal opinion, it's really fucking solid. It felt like playing a new Dark Souls, even though I'm sorry I missed all the spiciest questlines. I will have to redo it.
The reworked boss fights were all really good (except the one I wish they had changed more, the Bed of Chaos, and also Jareel, the cut boss, which felt kinda buggy and unfinished but still awesome).
I also appreciated how the item placement is more reminiscent of Bloodborne, and the new items also favor a more aggressive playstyle.
But mostly, what was definitely the most awesome was all the big and small surprises throughout the entire game: breaking out of Seath's prison with Havel, chasing King Jeremiah through Izalith after he stole your warp ember, fighting a giant fire demon in the arena in the Painted World, EVERYTHING with the Capricious Thrall, saving Siegward from Silver Knight archers, fighting Nito and Ciaran at the same time...
My biggest reproach is that there are too many fucking drakes. Other than that, it's fantastic (apart from having really obscure quests at times).
Smacked Artorias, Kalameet and Manus, then had to put down good boy Sif. Seems getting my main PC back up and running, with it's much larger screen, has helped matters.
Can someone explain to me what they hated about Daughters of Ash?
I didn't think the lore was interesting, the enemy placements were on par with the worst of DS2, and for no reason enemies were all given huge boosts to their resistances.
Well I didn't have any problem with any of those, and I didn't care much for the lore either. But even if I had disliked those 3, all the new quests and surprises that make up the mod are absolutely worth experiencing in my opinion.
Capricious Thrall?
Yo. Back with another update on the use of spears.
The Lothric spear is deadly as shit if you're patient. Get a stab in, dodge, and stab again. Working on leveling vitality and strength so I can also use a great shield and roll unencumbered.
I'm gonna assume you don't mind being spoilered about it. I'll tell you how it happened to me, it was awesome.
I was arriving in lower Undead Burg for the first time by coming out of the Depths (that's how the game wants you to do it), so I come near the Capra Demon arena. Seeing the wall of fog, I think to myself: "nah, I'll do the Capra Demon later, I'll just go up the streets to unlock the shortcut to upper Burg". So I start going up the street with all the dogs and Hollow thieves. Then, as I walk around a corner, there it fucking is in front of me: the Capra Demon, with flames burning behind him, coming slowly towards me. The music timing was also perfect and I nearly shat my pants. Turning back I realize of course that a fog wall appeared behind me, and I was trapped in. I start fighting him, and about halfway through the fight, the music changes and the boss switches name to "Capricious Thrall", and his blades start spitting fire. He dealt a lot more damage there, and I died. When I came back to that lower Burg street... no fog wall. Only a message that said: "the Capricious Thrall has fled". Also behind the other fog of wall, the one for the original Capra Demon fight... well, there's a bonfire behind it of course
The Capricious Thrall basically becomes the Pursuer from DS2 and instantly appears in certain places where you expect him least. If you die to him or fail to kill him within 3 minutes or so, he flees. Until the last encounter where you have to kill him, in the Duke's Archives prison tower. You get a good reward for killing him though; a special ember that you can keep for the ability to warp to more bonfires.
Also later on King Jeremiah also fights you by surprise and he steals that ember if you die to him, and that was also amazing. Getting it back is no issue though, but he does go on a rampage and kills a precious ally.
Where is the best place in BB to get STR scaling gems?
The best place to get all gems in general is chalice dungeons. You can enter codes to summon dungeons with guaranteed drops for certain types of gems if you look it up online.
I fucking hate chalice dungeons. Been forcing myself to play them for some sick bolt gems.
waiting for more sekiro info like

Honestly, I like the fact we're not getting much info on Sekiro. When games launch after most everything has been revealed, it leaves so little to be discovered and it's a bit obnoxious imo. One of the big reasons I think Bloodborne is such an awesome game is because most of the game, especially the big plot twist at the middle, was kept hidden away and most of the marketing put the game as a "kill werewolves and vampires you're Van Helsing but Dark Souls" instead of what it actually was. Hopefully something similar comes of Sekiro, although it seems clear to me that the game is going to go beyond just "you're fighting samurais and shit in Japan trying to save your prince".
This is honestly the one thing I hate about the Bloodborne fan base. Up until the game was released we thought it was going to be a gothic horror story, it's only once Byrgenwyrth comes up that the cosmic horror becomes the focus. Then the community finds it and proceeds to make a million threads and videos like "BLOODBORNE IS THE MOST TWISTED COSMIC HORROR EVAR!"
Good job keeping the secret, you fucking morons.
Whenever there's a twist in a show, movie, or game, 70% of the fanbase will make it their personal mission for it to be the first thing they ever tell you about the game.
This is the one thing I hate about the internet and gaming communities in general. There are no secrets, mysteries or surprises anymore. Every single game immediately gets datamined and shit and every question is answered. Then 2 million people make Youtube videos with spoilery thumbnails about it. Remember that locked but interactable door down in Cathedral Ward below one of the bell wearing giants? Back in 2015 I always wondered if there was any way to open it and wether there was anything behind it. I actually searched for
hidden keys and levers to open it. But then some dude just made a video where he glitched or freecam'd through a wall and showed that it was just the void and there was no mystery anymore. Same thing happens with every other secret in any game now.
I think the reason we have low level twinks and shit is also because every single little thing in Souls games is nowadays heavily examined by some gaming scientists who then post it on the internet and put it in a wiki for everyone to see. You don't have to think about how you build your character anymore when there's a table, video or guide showing you which way to play is the most effective. There are always guides on how to get the best equipment really early on so you can fuck up some poor dude's day by invading and one-shotting
him. Stuff like that. I always tell my mate about the magical experience that was Demon's Souls when it was still this obscure Japanese game that nobody knew about. Nobody knew what they were doing because the Souls community didn't really exist yet. Messages
were super helpful and it wasn't all about writing the most misleading or funny shit yet. Invasions felt fresh, intense and always kind of fair. Everyone helped each other out through summoning. It was amazing. I was super pumped when he finally was able to play the
game himself in 2017 because I was excited to hear about all his adventures. Sadly, he encountered the same troll messages and asshole invaders you're used to nowadays. All using the same perfect builds to wreck new players by actually destroying their equipment
and shit. Really sucked some of the fun out of the game for him.
I think the most magical thing here is that your friend got recent messages and invaders playing Demon's Souls in 2017 (hard agree on the rest of your post also)
I think he played shortly after there was one of those "Return to Boletaria" events done by the community so there were still some people playing. He said he was invaded like 5 or 6 times over the course of the game.
It ain't much but I think this teaser is new:

Yeah looks like it was just released today. The music sounds a little like Lady Maria's theme but it could just be the same composer.
I've been dicking around in Dark Souls 3 and I decided to try this:

So far I've gotten to Undead Settlement and holy shit I didn't know Sellsword Twinblades are REALLY OP. Not counting the bosses and the crystal lizard in the first area, everything dies in one combo when two-handing.
I finally got the Platinum trophy for Bloodborne after playing the game every evening for the past few days. This playthrough was also the first one where I actually fought all the way through the Chalice Dungeons and finally faced Yharnam. Managed to avoid spoilers
about her ever since release so that fight was proper fresh content for me, which felt amazing.
What a great game. I love it so freaking much, it's ridiculous.
Also finally jumped on the Sekiro hype train.
