getting my shit stomped by the shinobi hunter in the hirata estates and its fucking amazing
An hour in and I've already fucking time traveled using a bell good shit
I didn't have much of a problem with that guy but the general you encounter right after the first 3 wolves you fight absolutely curb stomped me
can you lose a unspent level or only progress towards the next level?
Not going to lie, the hunter boss breaks a... ton of rules of good boss design, basically all about having adds in a fight. Jesus Christ
maybe im wrong but it seems best just to not resurrect atleast unless your confident you can clear the area
I read it doesn't give you more rot essence. So the choice being there could be just a "continue" prompt to give you a second to breath? If there's a tradeoff it's not clear right now.
It's explained really, really poorly. Rot seems like it would have been a resurrection only thing, not an every death thing
I already love this game, the mechanics are great even though they take a while to get use to, especially for Dark Souls veterans. I really do get that same feeling that I had when I played Dark Souls, it's frustrating but not unfair so far, you just need to learn and adapt to situations. My only gripe so far is that they have no option to change the button icons to PS4 controllers, but I got used to that pretty quickly and its more of an annoyance. I'm probably going to play a bit with my current save and get used to the combat and then start fresh, I've died at least ten times and the dragonrot thing happened.
lmao, I had no issue with him at all, but the hunter took me ages. Got him eventually though now trying to get through the big fat fuck you have to fight after him
I'm really loving this game so far, but the dragonrot mechanic is probably the only thing that doesn't sit well with me. Seems like far too much of a punishment for dying.
as far as I can tell all dragonrot really does is lower your chance of getting unseen aid? unless theres more to it that I'm not seeing
It hard blocks NPCs from having quests
However, you can get an item a limited amount of times that on use heals everyone of rot st once. Again, limited total quantity though.
Post Ashina Castle spoiler: is the Tengu dude supposed to be Lord Issine? It never came up on me until I watched my friends playthrough. Sekiro is the name the Tengu gave you and Isshin refer you as Sekiro when you talk to him.
I really, really don't like that. Especialy considering I immediatly got rot after only a few deaths. If rot was tied to resurrection, sure, that's an interesting tradeoff, but it's not according to the wiki.Every time you respawn you get a chance for rot, wether or not you resurrected  Dragonrot in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice affects the NPCs by making them sick, which prevents progression of their Quests. In addition, the more Dragonrot you accumulate, the less Unseen Aid you will have. Each time you die and respawn at a Sculptor's Idol each NPC has a chance to gain Rot Essence. They all have their individual chance, with some being higher than others. The Sculptor will always be effected first. It does not matter whether you Resurrect or not, you can still gain Dragonrot if you respawn at a Sculptor's Idol, so there is no point in not Resurrecting if you can. Okay what the fuck am I supposed to do about shield enemies? They're fine on their own, but... impossible to deal with in any hectic situation
that link posted says only resurrecting increases rot
they're pretty slow moving so they're easy enough to just leave behind while you deal with other people, I tend to just let them charge me then jump behind them
Oh... walked slightly too far from a boss and he regained the entire health bar back. Right.
Lady Butterfly is fisting me open mercilessly and I'm not a fan.
Played a few hours, the theme and world is really great to be honest. That said, I have to say that I'm feeling a bit mixed about the game. The character feels really twitchy and climbing surfaces is such an hassle, I often fall down or jump all over the place. The shinobi arm helps to get to places easier. Still, the AI is really dumb and messy. Trying to be stealthy feels rather hard to pull off because it's difficult to detect enemies and the due to the fast movement, I often get spotted. I'm not sure if I just need to get a hang of it but switching from combat to movements and jumping is rather clunky. The combat is really neat though, I kind of like this new concept with the posture and deathblows.
if your game looks really dull the HDR on pc is even than more broken than in other games
You can run to restart and prevent dying, but you can't progress if you avoid some of the mini bosses. I think the different between 'boss' and 'mini boss' is whether they will drop memory when they die
Tips for the blazing bull? I'm at a complete loss on how I'm supposed to deal with this.
I can't even imagine the actual bosses in this game. The ogre is pile driving me into the fucking afterlife.
Spam the firecracker, it stuns the bull and you can hit it 4 to 5 times before it recovers.
Died about 30 times so far to a spear mini-boss with tracking, unblockable attacks and an absolutely garbage hitbox. I think I'm going to not give a fuck about NPC's on my first playthrough if I even decide to finish this game because dragonrot is an obnoxious mechanic and I'm just not able to git gud enough.
tip for big enemies where you can't deflect attacks; don't lock on. i was having so much trouble with the (very early miniboss) ogre until i stopped locking on also yeah this game is phenomena and i love it. i'm really surprised at how many npcs are in the world. i backtracked a bit in one early area and found like 3 npcs i completely missed the first time
