It gets WAY, WAY better once you actually start to unlock some shinobi prosthetics and skills. There are a few of them that guarantee damage, or even a deathblow.
Right I've clearly missed something, I've got the flame vent prosthetic but I'm seeing people at Juuzo with both the axe and some crazy firework thing that I've clearly missed. Are they in the estates somewhere?
Geez, took me like 3 hours to kill Lady Butterfly. That's up there with Nameless King/Gael/Friede for me in terms of time taken. If the rest of the bosses are like that I'm gonna have a very long playthrough
I'm really hating the posture system. I was cool at first because it encouraged me to be aggressive and balance attacking with deflecting, but as soon as you encounter a named enemy the flow goes out the window and it becomes a game of 'very slowly build up this enemy's posture bar and hope to fuck you don't mistime a deflect or they're combo you to death'. And the bosses are just an extra layer of bullshit, like Lady Butterfly 'Here's a boss as fast as Lady Maria or Sister Freida, can jump all around so you have limited opportunities to hit her, when she isn't perfect blocking everything you do, oh and you have to kill her twice. Oh and in the second fight she'll summon a swarm of ghosts you need a very limited item to dispell, and she passively summons homing missiles too.' They didn't need to throw 4 bosses worth of mechanics onto one enemy.
That plus enemy variety consists of "Lighting fast enemy + gimmick". The big fat guys hit like truck and have wide attacks, but they're also as fast as anyone else. The sniper guys can fuck you up from range, but they're also highly competent at melee. These short bastards have hats that act as passive shields, but their stature does nothing to limit their strength or speed.
It's like the late game enemies of Bloodborne from minute 1 and it just gets faster from there.
Those guys spawning are actually useful because they give you crosses when you kill them & those little guys with the shield hats die in 1 hit with the axe
Lady was easy eventually, I just had to run around a lot (also using throwing stars to hit her while she's in the air, makes it 50% easier)
I'm really curious to see how I feel after I play through more than once.
The new player feeling it gives me is that they give you a bunch of tools that don't matter unless your movement is also very good. It's like fighting an old dark souls boss where avoiding attacks feels really sketchy, but at a much more modern souls pace.
With the older games you can pretty much be like "okay don't do this when that happens" but now it feels like "be here but also you need to be doing this thing and not just getting an attack in."
Again I have no idea if this is just from not really knowing how to play yet but boy it's confusing.

I am liking Sekiro a lot but between the minibosses being massive damage sponges and pretty much everything two-shotting you their fights feel more like tests of patience than skill after you've figured them out.
Also, damage isn't consistent at all, sometimes I'll flub a block and a boss will take off half my health in a regular combo from a single hit, and sometimes it won't. Like it just sometimes does the damage of their special windup move that is supposed to be nearly an instant kill... but in a regular attack.
Anyone else finding themselves dreading bosses and minibosses instead of being excited?
Ok, I've started to git gud.
After coming back, I beat Hulkamania Ogre miniboss after being REAL careful. Protip, jump. If an attack looks like it's horizontal AT ALL, you can jump over it.
Then I finally beat down the first REAL boss after only a couple real deaths. By far the most fair and satisfying fight at that point in the game. Also, killing REAL bosses is how you increase your attack.
Next, I cheesed Fatty McDrunk Guy by finding a side path, sneak attacking his guys off one-by-one, then fought him with the help of a friendly NPC.
I SOMEHOW managed to kill Burning Bull in one go without fully dying. I was ONE magic pixel away from for real dying, though. Bricks were shat.
I also ran into Butterfly Geriatric and got smeared across the walls for a bit. 1 life orb boss? Well, that was pretty tough, used all my resources but now they're finally - Why are they laughing. Aw fuck. After many profanity laden tantrums, I returned with renewed resolve, vigor and aggression and beat them good. Goddamn, that was a satisfying fight.
Now I'm stuck one three NEW bosses/minibosses. Stoic Jet Stream Sam w/ Bow, Armor Man, and San Spookytale. First one has two orbs, is a tough fight, THEN STRIPS and fucking cacks you with super saiyan bullshit oooooook. Second one is probably a puzzle boss because wow, no orbs, no HP damage, and when you break their posture (finally got that right) and deathblow them, they laugh at you for being retarded and then kicks your ass. Last guy is a bullet hell boss and requires a consumable to beat. At least two of them. If you don't have at least two Divine Confetti, you're in for a REALLY bad time. I wasted mine on the second mentioned boss thinking they were a a spooky ghost armor man, don't do that, it doesn't work, and I don't know where to get more.
Starting to get a lot better though. Just take frequent breaks.
I'm glad this game is doing great judging from reviews and hands on impressions. Sadly my payments were this week so I couldn't but it so I have to wait a while and hopefully I can hold ou--
*YouTube algorithms recommends possibly all the boss fights in one strip.*
Siri how do I delete all of YouTube?!
To be honest I'd buy Sekiro but I can't imagine playing dark souls or bloodborne without the multiplayer.
this is literally the first time I've ever played a souls game and I gotta ask, am I legitimately retarded for not being able to get past this first chained ogre? I feel like the guy who couldn't get past the tutorial for cuphead.
Armor man is easy. Look around you and realize what he's wearing.
I just blocked all the boss fight channels i can think of, haven't had a problem since.
No you're not. This game is a lot more unforgiving imo than the Souls series. Enemies will gank you at every given chance they got. Bosses have shit tons of hp. Everything fucking 2 shots you and you can't change your stats without special items from defeating actual bosses or finding specific items so you just gotta git gud but it's hard to git gud when you're punished for dying.
I genuinely believe that the dragonrot thing is actually bugged because every fucking reference to it references abusing resurrection
Never tried block apps, but I am attempting to do what I did when Dark Souls and Bloodborne were at their peak; IGN reviews and nothing else so that YT doesn't get the idea of recommending me videos the more I keep looking at related videos.
Ya it's alright.
took me ages to kill the shrek and the drunk dude, but killed ms butterfuck and the horse cunt on my first try... and now I'm stuck on the fucking bull
swear to god the minibosses are harder than the actual bosses
HOLY SHIT What was that guy on the rooftop just after the sequential walljump segment after the Shinobi Hunter?
He has sweet looking gear and he saw me and just jumped down and gutted me in less than 2 seconds that was awesome.
Honestly that guy took me more attempts than Shinobi Hunter. For Shinobi Hunter you just have to be aggresive and just keep wailing on him. For that guy you gotta stay passive and parry all his shit. Parry the kicks will interrupt his combo, mikiri his thrust, and jump on him when he does the sweeps.
The Seven Spear dude is the real bullshit. Trying to mikiri his thrust will end up getting a follow up 50/50 in your face. I ended up leveling more health and power through him with the axe. The Mini bosses in this game are way more difficult than the actual bosses imo
I'm 7 hours in and I'm not convinced the difficulty in this game is 'fair.' I'm not really enjoying it yet.
I was getting extremely shitty FPS on a 1080ti / 1700x setup.
I tried everything online, nothing worked.
Finally, I went into Task Manager and changed the game's processor affinity and prevented it from running on the first 5 (out of 16) cores.
Boom, perfect 60FPS everywhere, no exceptions. It makes a huge difference.
Jumping on an enemy when they're doing sweep attacks to fill their posture gauge and performing deathblow on them while in the air is one of the coolest shit in this game. Also really satisfying.
Hit her with shruikens mid air.
my issue is I’m confused about where to get snap seeds. Second round is hard to deal with without em.
you have to sneak around the canyon, then theres a tent thing in the middle of a field that you can hide in. snake goes to look with one of his eyes, and you can stab the eye and gtfo right behind you.
Snap seeds are pretty useless for that because it only affect a small number of them around you, not all. You still have to run around a bit to avoid them.
You need to sneak around the giant snake to get pass. When you got into the cave you need to hide inside that small hut.
Starting to figure out the combat and I'm really enjoying it now, also holding down dodge gets you into a sprint immediately after the dodge finishes which really helps getting away from big blokes and their grab moves.
