If they notice you, sprinting around and jumping from rooftop to rooftop can help to split them up a little, too. If you keep dealing some damage as soon as you're alone with one of them you'll also be able to wear them down eventually. Also, I think the shuriken can knock them out of the air once they're doing their sick jumping combos, really useful to mess them up.

Probably because parrying in DS/ BB had a wind-up before the active frames actually start, requiring different timing. Deflects in Sekiro on the other hand doesn't have that and are instant, making deflections much easier.
Easy for you to say. This is the Soulsborne thread, I was expecting Sekiro to be a Soulsborne game like 90% of the people out there. And no one could have known it was so far from it before the release, so don't give me that apples and oranges story.
I went on a full media blackout after the initial reveal and it was obvious it wasn't a Souls game. The fact that they came out from the beginning and said it's not a RPG, it has a set character, and you won't be getting weapons and armour was a huge give away. I just went into it expecting a game to kick my ass and boy did it fucking deliver. I can't kill this fucking Guardian Ape. Why can't he be as easy as all the other monkeys?
finished game 4 times got all endings but seems to be no decent skill point farm spot and everything I've searched seems pretty bad
Well I didn't know that at all before I started playing, and I imagine I'm far from being the only one. I'm just a bit disappointed that it's a more "typical" kind of game... The kind Ubisoft or Square Enix could have delivered if they had been in a really, really good mood. Sekiro gives me a lot of flashbacks to Tomb Raider (2013), which in turn was heavily influenced by Dark Souls, but mostly because of the setting and the level design.
It's kind of funny how, despite being balls-to-the-wall hard, the game is considered better than most action games big AAA companies are "trying" to deliver nowadays from the Tomb Raider prequels, to the new Assassin's Creed games, and even Shadow of War if you're brave enough. My payment can't come soon enough to get this in my hands.
Every piece of information I read about the game pre release was “THIS ISNT A SOUSL GAME” so no I don’t think that’s true what so ever.
it's painful to see people writing paragraphs of analysis on this game already like, you just know they only got a few hours in, they're doing badly because the combat hasn't clicked for them, and they're already trying to rationalize why it's the game's fault and not theirs. and the longer the 'analysis', the less i bet you they've actually played. you're jumping the gun. keep playing. you'll get it.
I don't think everybody will like Sekiro's combat even if you liked Souls, but there's definitely going to be a growing period for a lot of people as they're abruptly thrown back to square one. I mean it took me around three hours to not hate Dark Souls the first time I played it. That being said there's a bunch of bullshit in this game I don't like and it's almost exclusively to do with bosses, I love the regular gameplay.

I think that location is much better for gold but slower for XP
Not to call out anyone in this thread, but I've noticed a lot of the very negative criticisms of the game I've seen (which are usually the most long winded) complain about not being able to get past the Ogre 'boss'. The ogre isn't even at the end of the first area, it isn't even really a boss it's an elite enemy. That's not even giving the game a fair try, by that point you haven't even been introduced to the ability system, or the majority of the prosthetic tools (hell most people probably didn't even bother to go back and get the shuriken installed) so they're writing the game off before they have all the core features of the game unlocked. Also I've seen multiple people say the game doesn't have interesting locations, which is just baffling. You start off (after the intro section) on top of a narrow mountain, with a major citadel across a chasm, and what appears to be active defences against a siege set up, and that's the most boring part of the game. It's like beating the Cleric Beast and saying "Man Bloodborne is so boring, it's just faux-Victorian London over and over."
The locations are amazing and only ever left me in awe each new zone that i arrived in. Helps when they're absolutely beautiful (even the ugly ones)
Slowly progressing and enjoying myself, but I've come across an odd situation I wanted to ask about. I just am trying to be extra careful I don't get information wrong since I am also making a video on the game so it's a combination of wanting to progress, and making sure I explain mechanics correctly. The Loaded Spear. Pretty cool, says it can strip armor when you use the second button press pull attack thingy. So I've come across the Armored Warrior on the bridge and he is all lumbering and moving awkwardly which makes me think he is the one the eavesdropped guards were referring too. I manage to break him twice but nothing takes, and I hit him several times with the spear, both in and out of break with no result. The way the bridge breaks makes me think I may be able to position myself just right and push him off instead but that seems more like a cheese tactic than the actual mechanic mentioned just earlier of armor stripping. So what do? Am I just dumb?

Armour stripping only applies to enemies with poorly fitting armour. He's wearing full plate. You can't break or strip his armour. Try thinking about the environment you're fighting in. (Or just read Pinut's post)
Yeah I kinda figured, but the way he moves is so strange and awkward that the "ill-fitting" part really stuck in my head, and the earlier eavesdrop. Thanks guys. Also holy fuck those undying monks with the visible entrails and cricket vom was like a bloodborne-lovecraftian-nightmare-all-along-style reveal a little bit.
19 skill points to grind and then got all achievements I honestly wish there were more main bosses as there's not many really and it's a bit tiresome that they reused movesets for a couple and just added extra things they can do especially for Owl (Father) and Emma+Isshin (Shura End)
It was kind of ridiculous though when you eavesdrop on those guys who go YEAH WE TOTALLY COVERED HIM IN ARMOUR, COMPLETELY IMPERVIOUS TO DAMAGE FROM ANY CONCEIVABLE ANGLE, FITS A LITTLE BAD THOUGH and I was expecting somebody poorly shoved into an entire suit of armour, then you get there and it's a guy in a single tiny chestplate that barely covers half his chest and he's still 90% exposed skin. Then again it does still make him nearly invincible so maybe proper armour is overrated.

I'll just assume that instead of the big guy right next to the guys talking about it, there is instead a larger guy up the stairs where I haven't gone.

Could someone give me some advice on Lady Butterfly? My performance against her is so inconsistent, sometimes I manage to get her down fast without using much healing. Then at times she just annihilates me so badly that I lost all of my healing items and she has not even lost a third of her health. She also blocks most of my attacks as well.
Once she's in the air you can knock her to the ground by using shuriken, that alone massively helps I believe. Other than that - play defensively and study her moves. Once you've figured out her patterns you will know when to be aggressive and when to hang back. For example, the best time to get some hits in is when she does the huge jump kick or grab, if you dodge them you'll have plenty of time to deal some damage before she gets back to her feet. I think the best advice one can give when it comes to Sekiro is that you need to be very patient and take your time during a fight. And never, ever, get greedy once you see an opening. If you can't figure out how to attack, focus on getting perfect parries instead while figuring out the enemy's moveset.
You should rarely be attacking her tbh. Reflect all of her combos and if there's a small space in between get 1-2 hits in. Also punish her perilous attacks with hits like when you knock her down off her wire with shuriken Besides that, it's your deflections that will raise the posture bar
fuck the guys who made the last boss specifically, whoever did it didnt playtest or something because who the fuck has the time to memorize 4 movesets
