Oh, as if we're not going to have an achievement for sticking a top hat on that little spike thing.

yes this is still being worked on
I gotta say, I really love the weapon idle animations in Half-life. Really helps sell the "This guy is just everyman with no formal combat training" angle (at least up to a point).
It seemed to me, or the drum is spinning for no reason and fingers not moving.
I think that's the "still being worked on" part.
So this is absolutely fabulous and I can't wait to play through BM with it BUT please don't get caught in a Mr Brightside style loop of constantly redoing the animations because I'd love for this to get released some day.
It's not getting caught in the loop of redoing animations instead it's stuck in the loop of waiting for an update in case they update them to use an entirely new rig that just randomly appeared in one of them.
Especially the snark ones - shaking it to calm it down and baiting it with a finger.
Do not believe this man's lies. He is doing exactly that.
It's all edited versions of the vanilla sequences, the only changes being made are mandatory ones to fit Juniez's meshes onto retail animations.
Oh, so HL2 models Juniez made were lost, but BMS models he made weren't, and you're working on animating them?
That's great!
Game Zombie's the one working with animations, and it's more akin to rigging them than animating, but yes. We both have backups of them now.
I trust yall, it would just be such a tragedy if you put 5 years of work into this stuff only for no one to ever appreciate it. I always thought BM's weapon models and animations were its weakest aspect by a long shot, so the classic pack is a godsend.
I feel ya man, the last update was in september 2017 If it's any consolation though Juniez did upload some remakes he made later on hacked onto the default animations,

I'm not proud to admit that I spent probably a fucking hour or more unloading on nihilanth because I didn't get any feedback when shooting at the crystals and never realized they were destructable
Oh WOW those are gorgeous! Would have loved the shotgun.
I've always interpretad that as him being absolutely fascinated with the thing to the point of touching it and then suddenly realizing that it will probably harm him at the last second. Like, if Kleiner and Gordon's roles were reversed Gordon would have a couple of defanged snarks running around freaking Barney out instead of a headcrab.
On the same page of that sort of thing, I always loved Shephards idle animations with the spore launcher in that vein too, except it's more 'who's a good biological grenade launcher' which I hope can eventually be a thing someone makes for BMesa
What are you talking about, we have the pickup animation for the hornet gun
Yeah but Shephard never fisted his alien grenade launcher
"Barney hides with beer because Gordon is inbound and fists people because he finds them ridicolous"
fists
Confession: I've never actually beaten the original Half-Life. I got bored during the first chapter of Xen and never finished. (That's how much Xen sucks compared to the rest of the game)
Of course, I didn't grow up with the franchise like so many of you did. My introduction to Half-Life was buying the Orange Box and playing Half-Life 2 in 2011, so it's understandable why the original game would seem archaic and inferior to me. Many games from that era and before feel the same way to me, for largely the same reasons. And now that we have Black Mesa, I don't have any personal desire to replay vanilla Half-Life.
If you pick up the hornet gun while a barney is nearby, they’ll make some hilarious comments. Try it.
Yeah I had to look up how to beat it. Not the most intuitive fight.
I did not find it that hard to figure out what to do aas soon as I noticed Nihilanth absorbed the energy balls coming from the crystals, but I found the battle ungodly annoying anyway due to the constant teleportation (which I did not know how to avoid, so another case of the stupids enirely).
So I've been looking at Half-Life stuff on The Cutting Room Floor and I'm surprised I never did that before because there is a lot I didn't know of, and I thought I knew it all.
Anyway, has the art team taken any inspiration from older renditions of Xen that haven't made it in? Will we see (passive?) creatures like the flocking floaters or the snap bugs? Or more weirdness like the protozoan (which are used, but rare)?
Also this just sorta popped into my head but did @DIGITAL SPORTS ever find out how to make the Security Guards not completely destroy the HECU in OARU? Last I remember the "solution" was giving them 5 HP and even then it was almost equal
We already have, actually
afaik, Chon hasn't worked on OARU in years; he's a part of Crowbar Collective now, so he's been focusing on development for the retail branch pretty much exclusively
Not sure the skeletons would line up correctly. That and I don't think he'd need it. The guy's invincible, near as I can tell. I've trapped him in the hallway gas-line fire for like 3 minutes straight and he never dropped dead
My problem with the franchise is that while I greatly enjoy it, I struggle to finish it. I kinda lose focus as i progress to the games, to the point of getting bored, which is a shame because i really like the story, setting and characters of both HL1 and HL2.
Everyone knows about the eye glow Vortigaunts have in Black Mesa, right?

I decided to look into this some more, and found this Steam discussion from last December. What makes it interesting is that a dev actually chimed in on about some stuff.
This also made me do a doubletake on the test chamber failure scene: the Vorts that teleport in and out of the room have glowing eyes, but when Gordon temporarily teleports into the cave with the four Vorts, their eyes are normal. See for yourself:

Could be an intentional design choice, couldn't it?
This link just leads to google.
