We can assume that Combine purposely modified headcrabs genes, disabling certain host body mutations from emergencing, such as that chest hole - thus preventing it's ability to feed from anything but it's own host body, once they have one.
This ensures that even with a host, headcrab is still going to actively seek for a new host to latch and feed from, and will either die from starving or it is going to de-latch it's host once there are no more potential victims nearby.
What you get is basically a BOW which is forced to spread and will eventually die out / become weaker once the targeted area is clear from adversary.
Does Hgrunt AI react extremely slowly for anyone else? I'm playing game since the first time since the mod, and I've noticed they often take a second to even enter alert stance, then attack. It's ironic since in the mod version, the problem was their instant aimbot reactions.
Don't slap me Hell-met
Head crabs in Half-Life 1 and 2 are different from each-other, the ones in Half-Life are the naturally occurring pests imported from Xen and the ones in Half-Life 2 are weaponized parasites made by the combine.
In Half-Life:
Head crabs fully Fuse to their hosts' skull and are unable to be detached without killing both parties.
Are unable to survive in toxic environments.
Have distinct eyes.
Take substantially longer to completely mutate and control their hosts. This is seen when Sheppard encounters Gonomes while Gordon hadn't because he didn't stick around in Black Mesa.
Use the chest cavity as a pseudo mouth
Have much sharper and pronounced feet claws.
Have less exterior front teeth.
In Half Life 2:
Head crabs only partially fuse to their hosts and are able to detach at any time.
Are able to survive in toxic environments.
Have no distinct eyes.
Have a quick and short mutation time and do not fully mutate into Gonomes and remain as a standard zombie.
Do not use the chest cavity as a mouth
Have no feet claws
Have more external teeth around the mouth.

Or get this, it's just purely aesthetic design choices to fit in with the new engine and how it renders everything
What about Lamar's appearance though? I don't know if it's canon, didn't that particular headcrab come from Black Mesa?
Half-life original zombie looks smarter becouse can break the door with long claws if you get damage form zombie you can heord creepy loughs sound and one thing suprise me then i play hlaf life zombie come from ventelation hole and catch guard so this is why i think hl1 zombies looks smarter. I realy want to someone could remake black mesa zombie like i show before sreenchoot.make zombie with longer bloody claw creepy chest with bigg teeth and mix skull with headcrab can someone work with this before xen realease ?
I've always put differences between HL1 and HL2 headcrabs firmly in the retcon category. Like how GLaDOS looks completely different in Portal 2 because they were using an updated engine and a different art style.
Same with the Vortigaunts, they also got a big redesign, twice.
And i have one big question half life headcrabs, zombies and others creatures have yealow blood but in black mesa these creatures have red blood why in bm diferent blood type ? I know why in hl1 zombies blood yealow becouse human tranforming into zombie change the blood type becouse headcrab have yealow blood but in black mesa diferent why ? I think need to change bm creatures blood type into yealow becouse crautures from xen not earth and its good idea to me i think it must be diferent blood.
And I have one big question Half-Life headcrabs, zombies, and others creatures have yellow blood but in black mesa these creatures have red blood why in bm different blood type ? I know why in HL1 zombies blood yellow because human transforming into zombie change the blood type because headcrab have yellow blood but in black mesa different why? I think need to change BM creatures blood type into yellow because creatures from xen not earth and its good idea to me i think it must be different blood.
I don't have the answer to your question, but I hope my corrections to your words will help you in learning the correct spellings for English. Good job!
Ops i forgot black mesa creatures have yealow blood it a long time when i play black mesa. only diferent is with zombie then you shoot or atack with crowbar i see red blood but after zombie death you can see the yealow blood .
Are you okay dude? Do you need a bondulance?
I'm not sure if Ickys are broken for killing my 90hp / 30armor ass in two bites, or if it's working as intended by making me think of a way through the damn that isn't "jump in and shoot everything".
I hung myself on the ladder like bait and shot them when they came close.
Fun fact: you actually don't need to kill any enemies on that map, not even the heli
I always just jump toward the ladder to get the switch then dive down to the pipe
it's better they're a big threat over none at all.
they fixed the crowbar stunlock too, ickies are excellent now.
2013 revamp crowbar animation look beter then 2015. I dont like new atack animation becouse its to fast and easy kill enemys like science and zombies.
I, too, would creepily hold my unused hand in front of me while wielding a murder weapon instead of positioning it in a comfortable way that would also allow me to throw more momentum into the swing.
Totally in character for Gordon tbh.
My only issue with the crowbar is that no matter what you hit, it sounds like you're hitting a thin slice of meat.
Why not have some meaty impact sounds for the crowbar?
Never liked BM crowbar either. I understand it needed a rework because the attack speed is vastly different from HL2.
though at this point I'd still just use HL2 crowbar with sped-up anims.
Probably because they figure most people won't notice anyway, so why waste the time.
I personally would spend that extra time with a detail like that, but I don't develop games and shit, so I don't know.
Do anyone else's fingers move subtly like that as they breathe? Mine certainly don't. Especially when I'm holding my hand uselessly out in front of my body.
He removed the left hand in a later iteration of that mod. I remember people taking issue with it back then too
Not "major strides"?
