There's a mod on the workshop that does a brilliant job adding a filter to their lines.
I hope the BMS team reworks the viewmodel arms, the HEV suit looks like its made out of plastic, it looks so cheap
Viewmodels have been a huge point of contention forever now. I don’t think they’ve ever exactly nailed every gun. I would point them to Juniez’s classic pack, but I don’t think CC wants parity with the source material to be their angle. That’s pretty clear with the rest of the game anyways.
Wait I thought you still zoom in using the model? at least it looked like that when I played it a week ago
the old crossbow zoom looked better, but it was bad for framerates because it had to render everything twice, once for the background and once for the scope. if they bring it back, i'd prefer they found a way to do it that isn't as bad for perf, like rendering the scene once and just putting a blur filter over the background.
Funny enough, that's exactly what the screen overlay version does. The problem is that the model would take time to play through the zoom in animation, but that blur would be instant.
The texel density issue can pretty easily be fixed by slapping a new overlay and stencil in the right place, but the old double render as mentioned not only effectively halved perf but was always forced aliased at the resolution of the render texture. As ugly as the current scope overlay may be, it makes for a much easier fix clientside. Plus I've found that the crosshair is much more accurate with the current setup.
Anyone see this mod?

That thumbnail makes him look like Agrunt: Sexy edition

You made me do this. And I dared to do it.

You think the face is sexualized, huh?
I think it's a good remake of the classic agrunt, but it doesn't really fit with Black Mesa's realistic art style very well tbh.
Looks like a fucking diaper
I was thinking of the same thing.
I like the organic part of the model. It really follow the old AGrunt model, it's detailed and I think it still fits to BM art style.
However, the armor pieces are the issues. Even if the material looks really good,
I hoped it would blend better with the organic parts and in a more realistic manner.
Well I'm trying, I said trying to do a reskin in theese put more veins and organic and less cartoony, I don't know if the result will be better, but I like the model, better than
default a-grunt nazis

I remembered this take someone did on the alien grunt from a while back. Don't know if anyone ever tried to make a model out of it.
The Black Mesa agrunts always felt like a monster from a generic mid 2000s FPS to me. Never really been fond of that redesign tbh.
Yeah, Potatomuffin was working on a model (although Menter initially redesigned it).

I recall a dev in one of the earlier threads remarking on how the grunt was one of the most challenging enemies to redesign. It's aparently gone through multiple design iterations before they came up with something they're happy with. Personally I like it, it's not perfect but it looks simultaneously monstrous and threatening, but also organized. It looks like it's well suited for armed combat.

Yeah, Braindead's gotten remarkably better at modelling over a fairly short period of time.
There is also the one I did for Wilson Chronicles.
But it's far from finished (missing teeth, texturing and materials are shit etc...) and people thought it was not "bulky" enought :P

Also didn't manage to decompil/recompil it for BM with current BM animations.
The model can still be downloaded if anyone wants to mess around with it. I made a request a few weeks ago on GameBanana if anyone wants a reward for porting the model to Black Mesa, with a total of 920 points being offered as a reward.
Holy shit, hey hey hey I've been trying to find a way to get in contact with you for months. I'm Bast#6022 on discord, or you can add me on steam here: Steam Community
Alright, I'm PotatoMuffin#1784 on Discord and TwinDroid404 on Steam. I'll add you on Discord.
Has the community been a little stuck lately ... any news in progress?I see communities like Fallout full of life and ours sometimes with a brief respite and go back to sleep.
We're waiting for Xen. It's soon (TM)
Haha, that's true, and about the classic pack of Juniez? Any news?
no news for BM, the team seemed really excited some months ago but perhaps completition isn't as close as they thought.
he won't finish it until xen, I imagine because the rigging or assets might be changed or something.
And on the other hand Fallout is still an active game series, and most of the people sticking around for Half-Life are just in the Half-Life thread. I do miss the hayday of activity we had a few years ago, that was amazing. It was really fun being a member of the community back then, the big release, the bloom of new mods, culminating in STU/OARU and the maker being hired.
