We've Got Hostiles has exactly one box from Half-Life 2, so probably that
Yes we know, you hate Alyx.

It appears the HECU are no longer using Combine animations for their reload. I'm not sure when this was changed, but I just noticed it!
Well, today I started to redo some of the screens in "mission control center" in On a Rail. Always seemed to me a very modern environment in Black Mesa, practically futuristic(or inspired in the martian), and since I'm a fan of an old school style, I decided to leave the screens with a closer look to 1998/2001. This is only the V1. I pretend to do improvements close to NASA photos I'm using as reference for V2

I got Black Mesa in the Steam sale and have played a few hours of it, really enjoying it so far but I have come across some silly bugs. Is there a known issue list somewhere and/or where would be the best place to report them?
On the topic of weirdness in Black Mesa, the current weapon zooming is a bit weird. There's like, no sense of consistency.
You've got the 357, which has a slow FOV zoom-in that doesn't sync with the fast aiming animation at all
Then there's the Crossbow, which snaps to an instant zoom with no aiming animation at all, goes straight to a flat 2D texture of a 3D model that doesn't look all that great, and which feels like it should zoom in a tad more than it actually does.

Can't believe I just noticed this.
Where is this?
After the state authorities determined that the Nova Prospekt prison was unnecessary and a mere drain upon the budget, the facility was sold to a private security firm. Sadly, the company didn't work for long, as the Combine authorities seized the facilities and reopened the prison
Well, ZECU in progress.

Are you aware of this new mod?

If so, then are you willing to make a version with this in mind?
Mmmm, those headcrabs look like buttered bread rolls. Yum
Yes, I'm aware about it, me and my friend will update the ZECU to be compatible with that headcrab, well we will try
I'm curious to see how they'll handle Interlopers in terms of the parts where Vortigaunts don't attack you. It'd be cool if they ran up to him and gave curious, but wary looks before scurrying off. By now Freeman's already slaughtered quite a fair amount of their kind, so having this sudden, mutualistic peace (assuming player does conserve his supplies by not having an itchy trigger finger) could get some fun reactions out of them.
factory slaves not attacking isn't intended. its just AI breaking from their ssequences
Well then, this is... completely new to me. Combine Overwiki didn't point it out as a bug:
"In the first area, only Vortigaunts are present, and they show no hostility towards him. In later parts, however, the presence of Alien Controllers ensures that the Vortigaunts become hostile."
Hopefully it'll be made a feature in the Black Mesa rendition, in that case. I always found this bit of the Xen really fascinating.
Yeah I had no idea that was a bug, I thought this entire time it was Valve planting some seeds for how they would like to use the Vortigaunts in the future. It being a bug makes way more sense, Half Life 1 isn't really full of foreshadowing. But still a bit of a let down either way.
Speaking of which, I'm wondering if the devs are willing to implement the VScript system from Left 4 Dead 2. It could be a real boon for modding with this game. I mean, it's not an SDK, but it's better than nothing.
If so, what VScript features would be used in Black Mesa?
The ability to script new weapons, at least.
I thought L4D2 had that, in the way of Sourcemods, which wouldn't count obviously.
Decided to give Black Mesa another go, I had an encounter like this. I first tried to stack up explosives as to see if they'd kill the Gargantua, but this happened instead

After another attempt, it was still doing it. But remember kids, don't play with fire, because you will get burned :v

The garg actually has no health unfortunately. It can only be triggered to die.
Can you be sure the chill behavior wasn't intended? Their "Ignore Player" flag was set on.
The plot thickens. We need @Marphy Black to come in and settle this.
This is false. The Vortigaunts in Xen's mines (map c4a1c) have a specific "IgnorePlayer" flag set to make them initially neutral to the player until specifically provoked. Per the code, Vortigaunts are provoked if they're injured (of course) or if they hear combat sounds, namely the player firing weapons. Killing Vortigaunts in c4a1c will also trigger Alien Controllers to spawn in the room that retaliate against the player.
Decided to showcase my work somewhere that isn't the Black Mesa forums, as it honestly can get a bit slow. Here's a new Hivehand model I'm working on:

Not sure about the eyes though. Reminds me too much of buttered corn idk
I'm making this Hivehand for a redesigned Alien Grunt, as I thought the old Hivehand's colors were too saturated and made the portable beehive stick out like a sore thumb when seen on the Alien Grunt's arm.
As for the Alien Grunt mod itself, the design is based off of MenteR's redesign (I asked him about it he's cool with it). Eyes are placeholder.

I do completely agree that the vanilla Hivehand is way too saturated in comparison to the grunt, but I think yours could use a little brightening up in the diffuse and lowered contrast in the gloss. Looks sort of like charcoal at the moment, really noisy. Maybe try using the original Hivehand render (before the neon adjustments were done) as a guideline, they had pretty good color balancing on it when it was first being worked on:

I still think the agrunt needs even thicker chest armor and shoulder pads, but the materials for it are spot-on. Also the eyes on your Hivehand look great to me, matches the Snark pretty nicely.
That is an awesome alien grunt but I gotta say one of the things I actually liked about the BMS agrunt was the Nazi helmet. It'd be cool to see an alternate version with that type of helmet.
Also side note but your Agrunt looks so much like the Episode 2 vorts now I'm picturing a transition montage of a vort doing training rocky-style with roids involved and your model is the end result
Good job man! Reminds me of the work I did 2 years ago.
But your version is a lot bulkier and it was what people criticized about mine ^^.
Never took time to finish it properly.
Also your has really good shader, love the way the armor look like!
Keep it up!

These HECU look like they're about to drop the hottest mixtape of 200X.
