just replace the 357 with otis' deagle and call it a day
I feel like the point of Blue Shift is that you're an everyman even moreso than Gordon was, except you crutch a big more on the Security Guard role as an explanation for your ability, rather than intellect and power armor. But throughout the game the Marines never seem to notice that you're anything but a security guard, just that the security team is causing trouble. Even Gman doesn't show up at all, because you're not "interesting" to him. You go under the radar and escape, and nobody else is any wiser.
My favorite part of Blue Shift was the fake application form to work at Black Mesa they put in the manual that child me filled in, convinced it was real.
They could fill Blue Shift's Xen with all the cut monsters from Half-Life
They already had the most important one there: the Chumtoad. All the others are irrelevant tbqh.

Zombie guard's pistol uses the wrong texture
Been like that since Day 1 iirc. My guess is that the pistol doesn't reference a texture, so the whole texture sheet is just copied.
It's properly UVed and even based off the world model just for what ever reason it's using the ZGuard_b texture instead.
are they aiming for december? I thought I felt the vibe that they were making extreme progress.
They haven't really said anything beyond essentially "when it's done", and that they were doing something for HL's 20th anniversary, AFAIK.
I really hope we get Xen by this year. I'm not one to complain about how long BM's development cycle will take, but another year coming and going without the complete Black Mesa experience would be a huge bummer.
at least you can be sure they're still working on it
valve
By the sounds of things, they're aiming for November. If so, then I expect confirmation by Halloween.
I think they'd all be happy if it got finished this year. BM is about 13.5 years old now isn't it?
Would still love to see proper coop functionality one day
the problem with source games is that everything reacts toward 1 specific player - the others are ignored. This ranges from monsters to scripts and triggers. This creates an enormous ammount of work because you basically have to redo everything to account extra players. This is why HL2 coop didn't exist by the get-go from HL2DM and needed considerate effort to be made into mods (oc syn).
so they'd need a dedicated team just to do BM co-op and im certain they got enough work without that
IIRC, Co-Op was an idea they had the start of the project, I don't remember why it was dropped, but it might have been because of time and resources.
If co-op was to work best, players would have to be given individual pointers instead of !player, but even that is often times difficult to do.
Yea, you have no idea how idiotic can even get Source when you have to deal with two on more players on anything that isn't PvP. You have to take care that the client and the server are well synchronized with each other, make sure all temporal entities are seen to all the players ( sounds being played on map load and / or loop tends to not being played by late joiners, for example ), be vigilant of the entity limit and the network use, etc.
I would focus on finishing the main game and then if they haven't died of exhaustion, attempt this colossal task ( although TBH it would be better if they could outsource this to the community, but since Valve doesn't allow to distribute the source code of their custom Source engine branch, sadly is not a possibility ).
Isn't much of this handled by the multiplayer branch of the engine?
In my small experience coding for Gmod in lua, aside from some general quirks, it's been fairly smooth sailing in relation to multiplayer problems.
Vindictus was multiplayer and it seemed to work. It wasn't nearly as complex as Half-Life though.
what if they allowed a console port? I think BM would feel at home on the Xbox. At least the SP.
Valve had the 360 porting tools from who knows how long ago so if they maybe have any XB1 stuff i don’t know.

The RPG doesn't lower when aimed at friendly npcs due to an incorrect string name
Tested it a bit more and that isn't it
SO has this spool's hitbox been fixed yet?

I fuckin' wish
I lost track, are we at no official Xen release date again? Just asking, not demanding anything.
They've stopped giving release windows because of obvious reasons.
I have hope they will release it this year though.
