Nikita posted 4 Q&As on VK. Here's one while I work on the other three.
Q: How many employees does BSG have at the moment?
A: We currently have over 100 employees and we will probably not hire employees as actively as before. We're still hiring though, especially level designers to create locations faster.
Q: When will be able to climb ladders?
A: We're not working on that at the moment.
Q: What kind of unique items will EOD owners get on release?
A: We don't have many ideas for that yet. And on that topic, everyone who supported the project for a long time (alpha testers) will get some kind of bonus as well. And EOD will no longer be sold after release.
Q: Have you worked on helping wounded teammates or falling unconscious?
A: We haven't worked on these features yet, but they're planned.
Q: Will Customs be expanded?
A: Yes, we're planning on expanding Customs in patch 0.11.
Q: How about mobile radio stations and satellite phones? Are these features cancelled?
A: We're planning on adding radio stations.
Q: When will the glitch where you can hide a backpack inside a backpack be fixed?
A: We're hoping to have it fixed by patch 0.11.
Q: Will we be able to boost teammates on to high objects?
A: No, we're not planning on adding this.
Q: Will it be possible to slowly climb over obstacles if you're out of stamina or have broken legs?
A: Maybe.
Q: How will karma be implemented? What's it gonna look like at release?
A: There's no simple answer for that. We don't know how karma will look like at release. We'll improve the system gradually.
Q: Modules like NVG and thermal use batteries IRL. Will this be implemented in Tarkov?
A: Batteries will be added.
Q: What will we be able to produce in the hideout? (ammo, meds, repairs)
A: Ammo, medicine, repairing, moonshine and more.
Q: After a while, players become walking tanks. Will you add harder scavs for high level players to fight?
A: Scav difficulty will depend on the map. Harder maps will have harder scavs.
Q: Currently there's no point in repairing weapons since it's easier to find one in a raid or you can just buy a new one. Will this change in the future?
A: Weapon condition will degrade much faster in the future, and weapons will jam more often. Repairing a gun will be cheap, so it will be easier to repair a gun instead of buying a brand new one.
Q: You posted a picture of a russian flare gun in the past, when can we expect it to be added to the game? Will we see an american variant as well?
A: In the future. We're not planning on adding many flare guns to the game, since we generally try to avoid adding many different pistols to the game, since we would also have to create new ammo for each of them. Flare guns will have a very specific role.
Q: Tell me more about player customization (clothing), will you be able to customize your character in the stash, or do you have to use a trader?
A: It will be a special service from a trader. There will be a dressing room at the trader's.
Q: Regarding the arena. What kind of gamemodes are planned? And how will loot be handled in the arena?
A: There will be information about this later.
Q: Will factory be expanded?
A: There were plans to expand factory.
Q: When will gas grenades be added?
A: In the future
Q: Will we be able to swim and ambush scavs underwater? (wtf are these questions)
A: This feature isn't planned.
Q: When will a tactical tablet be added to the game? And when will a clan system be implemented - clantags, clan stash, clan roles etc.
A: ???
Q: When will we get true surround sound and when will audio bugs be fixed?
A: They'll be fixed at some point.
Q: When will we get more features for interacting with doors? (flash & breach for example)
A: More features are coming.
Q: Will harder maps have better loot?
A: Da.
Q: I think there should be special loot for upgrading the hideout. Will there be extremely difficult maps with really cool loot? Not like an M4 or a lion statue, but something truly special.
A: Yes, this is planned.
Q: Will there be maps that are only accessible through other maps. For example a secret passage that would lead to a bunker or something.
A: There will be maps which will be unlocked through certain maps. There will be a seperate gamemode where you spawn on one map and your extraction will be on another map. (?)
Q: What will the open beta be like?
A: OBT will be long, with patches.
Q: Will we be able to pick up sports bags/duffle bags from the maps and use them as backpacks?
A: No, that wont be possible.
Q: Will we get new videos or pictures for the main menu?
A: I'm not sure about that, but you'll be able to see your hideout in the main menu.
Q: Will you become hungry or thirsty in the hideout?
A: Your hunger and thirst stats will slowly get replenished in the hideout.
Q: What can we do to prevent battery and generator from breaking in the hideout.
A: They wont break completely, but their efficiency will become worse.
Q: Will we be able to level up skills on the shooting range?
A: Maybe. We'll think about it.
Q: When's the next global wipe?
A: Patch 10.5 will have a global wipe.
probably to give some sort of tiering to AR15 pattern rifles. right now the only option for people who want to use M4s is to wait until they can afford the 1000$ price tag, which isnt conducive to the usec vs bear dynamic of having different weapon specializations. with the hk416 they can reduce the price of the regular M4 and let people use it earlier on and get experience with it(mastery etc). thats what makes sense to me atleast, its also nice to have 'variety'
It's not 'Variety' tho, it's literally an M4 with a different gas system, for all intents and purposes it is an M4 and it operates and looks exactly like one. A civilian AR-15 would make infinitely more sense and provide a good tiering system for it.
Guess what they'll likely be adding later down the lines then, we've already got multiple AKs so ARs are next on the list.
A Russian made AR-15 derivative is already in the plans for either 0.10.5 or 0.11.
They've shown no plans to do as such, even though they have a list of all planned or shown weapons on the wiki, I can only hope though.
I'm completely against that because it doesn't make a lotta lore sense(Although knowing a few other rifles in the game it's not surprising). The gun is hella expensive IRL, though I know they stopped following RL prices long ago.
As for how similar it really is to an Actual AR-15 and how compatible the equipment is, I'm not sure I'd need to research it a bit more.
Doesn't that just make you against USEC getting any cheap guns though? If the M4 is expensive, the HK416 is expensive, and even the civilian rifle is expensive, what are their cheap alternatives? And I use cheap loosely here, because the AR-15 family doesn't have anything as 'bad' as the AKS-74u is portrayed in the game. The closest I could think of is the Port Firing Weapon, which has no stock or sights.
The devs are gun enthusiasts so don't expect that to stop coming no matter how much it might fit with lore or not.
Personally I love when devs are gun enthusiasts, because then the depth of the weapons is so much greater. I'll cite HL2, my favourite game, as an example of actually some pretty underwhelming weapons. The rattle of the SMG doesn't feel that strong, even compared to the chunkiness of the HL1 MP5. Although I do like the clack of the AR2, only the NPC's get that sound. Anyway, Valve isn't good at guns, they clearly do not know much about them, and the depth of the weapon mechanics are pretty archetypal. Weak laser pistol, stronger laser pistol with less bullets, pea-shooter SMG, respectable assault rifle, shotgun that murders everything.
Compare that to a game like Killing Floor 2 or Escape from Tarkov, the weapons look, sound, and feel so much better they're not even comparable.
to be fair there's also like 10 years between the release of those games
10 years doesn't make the invisible grenade launcher or double barrel SPAS-12 any better
I mean, some games do improve over time. Compare CSS to CS GO - the reload animation for M4 in CSS still hurts me when I see it. WHY DO YOU YANK THE FORWARD ASSIST BACKWARDS.
Because the animator assumed it was the charging handle because he's not a gun enthusiast! CS:GO still has it's moments though, like the MP7 holding 30 rounds instead of 20 or 40. Not as bad as they used to be, but I'm sure they've had 10 years of people yelling "It doesn't work that way!".
lmao why are you guys going on about what guns "make sense"? The game is already chock full of guns and mods that doesn't make sense from a "what would really be available" perspective. It is quite clear already that it is rule of cool governing this.
That's my point where the AR-15 makes the most sense, that thing is dirt cheap IRL and would be used by PMC's aplenty. The AK-74u is just the Russian design of the AK not being very modular and the closest equivilent would just be a short barreled AR. Probably the MK18.
Y'all also have to remember, these are privately funded soldiers in what's essentially a war zone in an alternate universe around 2020. Guns could be way more plentiful, way less restricted, and so much more in this fictional universe.
Maybe I misunderstood you then, I thought you said you were against the AR-15.
Ah maybe, I'm all for the AR-15, would very much like to see it in game... But I'm against the ADAR 2-15 because that's just an expensive Russian knockoff that makes more sense for Bears than USEC's
i'm wondering what even caused tarkov to be like it is other than 'we wanted a warzone for gameplay purposes so some shit happens and oops here are pmc's go kill each other boios'
I feel like it's going to be because of some really fucking valuable military tech from russia that two pmc companies want to get their hands on at all costs.
I think the book says a bit about it, but i've yet to read it
IIRC the whole story is basically Terragroup were doing stupid illegal stuff and the Ruskies are the 'Good guys' of this story, military funding to form a PMC group, BEAR's, to go in and recover any illegal stuff they can to shut down Terragroup while the USEC's were hired by Terra to basically recover and/or destroy anything with incriminating evidence and the whole thing basically turned into a shitshow and everyone pulled out leaving everyone to do their best to get out of the shitshow on their own.
oh fuck guess i'm now playing bear
As it should be, together we will remove the western scum from our land and make tarkov great again
Man I must be weird cos I like working for the faceless corp for a lotta (supposed))dosh...
i always knew usec are fucking scum of the earth
With the maniacal laughter that they can do, why were you doubting?
