I don't think the game will die over this, but they definitely shot themselves in the foot in terms of staying in the mainstream attention in a positive way. I doubt any big YouTubers will want anything to do with the game any more unless they're already hooked.

Haven't touched this game since its initial closed beta. Is it still going strong and keeping a respectable playerbase?

Development has been going good, but mostly the same problems keep popping up. That, and the whole controversy about everything.

People really overestimate how important these personalities are (such individuals also end up with a bloated sense of their own importance, such as rhinocrunch from the dayz mod days). Nerd with highly active reddit accounts will always jump on drama bandwagons and make hysterical proclamations, but I think its probably safe to say the average eft player does not give two shits about eroktic or what BSG did to him, as long as it doesn't significantly impact their own experience. Hackers getting out of control again or a failure to meaningful progress systems or content will be what kills this game if anything. I can easily see a situation similar to dayz sa happening with EFT.

Pretty much everyone I know, and everyone that my friends play with have been talking about this. People seriously do care, otherwise it wouldn't be so damn big. And if you don't care that BSG is willing to silence people that they don't like with such action, (not specifically calling you out), especially something that people use to earn their living, that's a big lack of empathy and total apathy towards the devs being shitty people.

and how many of those people do you know that have STOPPED playing tarkov because of it? Exactly, and that is why playercount numbers haven't budged. Of course people are "talking" about it, everyone loves a big drama show. But their actions don't match their words.

I've stopped, and nearly all my friends have stopped as well. We don't have solid stats so you don't know either way.

ive stopped playing tarkov more for the fact that hackers are running rampant, and no im not bad at the game

Personally I'm kinda waiting for the next major update, the wipe on this one really put me off wanting to play because it feels so unneeded, plus the update to the trader refreshing is just murder, the fleecers just grab everything then flood it into the flea market at stupidly inflated prices still. Its beyond ridiculous at times.

Depends what the Gun brand companies are going to do, to be honest. If they play nice it'll probably die down, if they decide to be rough, it might last a few months more on and off. That will be what gives the youtubers the content to keep dragging it back up if anything. Also side note that graph looks like a pretty steady downward trend albeit small, but that could just be the average decay of people waiting for wipe/patch/etc, not enough data there to be honest.

Yeah the game died off in players a lot faster this time around after the wipe because the flea market abusers bent the economy over and completely fucking destroyed it. .11 will for sure bring back a lot of people because of the new map and new scav boss, but I feel like a lot more people will just wait for the wipe with .12 because no wipe with .11 means everyone with ill gotten gains will still have a major advantage

Sucks to play on a shite server like that.. I noticed people have barely been scalping a certain few grades of ammo, but overall the flea market has been fucking amazing? Money has never been more fluid when you can throw money at tasks and then immediately turn random raid loot into hard cash. Maybe I don't mind because I haven't spoiled myself by refusing to run anything but the largest magazines & BS ammo 100% of the time~

TBH luger CCI isn't that much more amazing than Pso Gzh to justify the price that skier asks for it. Makes me wonder how much RIP ammo is going to cost on release, I also wonder how well it's going to work, probably just give it a stupid high fragmentation chance or something.

It's funny cos RIP ammo should be absolutely useless, it'd fall apart and be rendered useless through any heavy clothing/rigging.

another patch full of toys to distract everyone from the fact nothing is being done to the core systems involved. Netcode is still one of the worst on the market. Audio needs a complete redesign. Performance is gash for the current level of visual fidelity. AC has major holes that cheat communities literally laugh at on their forums. All this, and they still have these incredibly ambitious features they insist will be in the final product coming next year. Does this sound at all very recently familiar to anyone?

Imagine having such a bad AC that people who make cheats for a living don't actually want to bother making them for the game because find it both too easy and no way rewarding. Surprising how many will just do it once then not bother to keep updating them as there is just no point due to how many holes are in it. Plus cheating in tarkov is more scummy than usual due to how the game plays. You have to be a real special type of person to try justifying it other than "its so easy so might as well".

Personally i didnt stop because of bug or hackers, but because way too hardcore and too much of a time sink, nothing like what ive read before buying.

Really thinking on it though, it doesn't matter if players stop playing. The devs, regardless of whether anyone thinks what happened was justified or not, will keep making the game. They've already got your money, and not playing it out of boycott will do nothing beyond rob you of a game that you already payed for. It's a damn shame imo, but that's just how it is. Canted magnifiers, silenced mp153, character camo's, new acog and the map looks fucking phenomenal. Crazy to see actual work getting done

Reason why we've been seeing so little happening is because the last few updates was a lot of framework. Now that they have the scaffolding set out, they can finally get to work on adding more shit. That, and the animation system took a ton of time from what I've heard.

.11 patch is out, the new map is pretty awesome and the map looks great visually but the typical patch day issues are happening. Connection problems, servers crashing, scav raiders being scary as fuck. Some of the raiders are actual EX-USEC PMC's so they taunt you with the English voice lines which is nuts. i hope you aren't getting those stats from EFTSTATS because that's the website made by the malicious and delicious glockwork the man who hacked into 2 millions accounts and indirectly got an angry croatian to remove himself from the tarkov community over a surgical DMCA strike for weaponized clickbait also there's a TT grip i didn't see before that has a laser sight built in this is incredible
