I admit I laughed at Sonic pretending to be a cat though. He just doesn´t give a shit.
The "baby in the bag" joke was fucking awful tho. It feels like every good joke will be outweighted by 10 bad jokes.
The movie reeks of terrible jokes that don't seem to fit even in-universe.
No one would just back away from that convo without at least calling the police. Just say its a cat! It would tie in to the stupid "Meow?" scene. BAM! Connections!
Also, Eggman bothers me a bit. The "Nobody cares!" kinda felt out of place but maybe it's because of Carrey's making his own version of the Dr. I don't mind the superiority complex over the army man, just that line felt weird. He could have easily just turned around and ignored the army man with some sass.
Maybe it was the delivery. Why scream the line?
if you're expecting eggman to be anything but "jim carrey" then you're probably going to miss out on what will be the only good aspect of the movie.
Oh I bet it will vomit of Jim Carrey-esque shenanigans. His Grinch and his Mask were basically him making the character. Love the dude at its prime.
Just that line bothers me. It doesn't feel Eggman but might work for Jim Carreggman.
I am worried for those going to watch this movie expecting it to be anything but ace ventura with a moustache.
Moving along from the Sonic movie, more Chao World Extended v8 news:

For those who don’t know, Bright Chao are glitched Chao that were introduced with the HD versions of SA2. They’re actually supposed to be Shiny Two-Tone Chao, but Sega of China, who are the ones responsible for most of the Sonic ports that have things messed up (including SA2), fucked up during the porting process and made the shinyness of those Chao render improperly, causing them to look bright as all hell.
Luckily, as mentioned in the tweet above, there is a mod that fixes that bug called BrightFix by Exant, which you can find the latest version here:

I would just like to know why these idiots designed SA2 HD to have two sets of textures in the game install: The original GameCube assets for SA2B plus redrawn assets for things like the stage select map, HUD and powerup icons.
Then they threw most of the same textures over the originals without any editing.
All of this to remove the occasional SOAP ad.
Look what the director of the Sonic Movie tweeted!
I am certainly do not envy people working at the studio(s) responsible for CGI in this movie. It's going to be one hell of a crunch time for them.
Well, I mean the whole movie looks brutally awful, but good on them for at least trying to change what they can??
Moved to after the lucrative pre-christmas market? Not a chance in Hell.
I'm mostly fine with Sonic's design as it is (from a good angle, at least), but if they're committed to pleasing the fans by making improvements, I'm all in. It's certainly admirable that they're willing to go out of their way to do this.
But then the movie wouldn't have the risk of flopping because of Frozen 2.
something something its purely marketing and either:
they used an old render on purpose just to stir the internet and generate reactions and there's "a second, 4real desing already done coming down the line"
they are not going to change jackshit and we just fell for it.
its quite delusional to think changeing sonic's render is going to render this movie any less awful than "generic CGI pet clashes with real world" trope fuel.
Indeed, I had it in my mind that this might all be a popularity stunt by putting in a shitty model in a trailer, and then "fixing" it by putting in the actual model in the second trailer or the movie, even before this tweet.
However, I don't think they won't update the design. It would be a much, much better idea to just say nothing, instead of promising fixes and doing nothing.
It makes sense, since you know, recalling and reprinting ad material isn't cheap. Read: they are fucking expensive and that is why brand designs charge so much.
Personally I don't think it is wise for them to make adjustments so late into production but I guess they're too worried that it'll flop hard.
Yeah the idea that they would market the film badly on purpose to pull a fairly limp PR move is absurd.
As for the redesign, I have no strong feelings regarding it, the film in general looks bad and making him visually more similar to the games its pointless when everything he says and does sucks. I'd rather we have this awful gremlin if the rest of the film is a trainwreck too
I feel like they should have tested the design on a wider audience before committing to it. How can you make something that looks in no way like Sonic and think "yeah you know this works"
I'm guessing the reason (If not excuse) is that Roger Craig Smith probably doesn't do motion capture akin to Nolan North, Reuben Langdon & others, they simply instead have an actor (No idea who it is) who could do both the voice & motion capture on the set with the rest of the cast (Though I can't help but think of Splinter Cell: Blacklist when mentioning this).
If you were to ask me, it really doesn't matter what they do with the character model (I'm fearing the trouble those artists may be asked to go through if they intend to make any changes beyond proportion adjustments), this film continues to strike me as a bad idea on paper & in execution as well as a show-string budget project that, if not intending, now hoping to be a spectacular enough trainwreck to make it's budget back at least (Though I am wise enough to know memes & bad publicity do not equate to sales).
The sooner I start hearing and seeing (nobody needs to see that) less about it, the bloody better I say. Give me Tyson & Co.'s marvelous 2D work any minute of the hour!
That's not the case if production images of the characters looking at a black stand are anything to go by. If there was an actor here, the CGI replaced them 100%, but it doesn't really look like that level of quality at all. Facial capture, or a loose motion capture to composite onto the model maybe, but Sonic's definitely yet another animated CGI character that basically doesn't actually exist in the real scene acting.
Ah, my mistake. I was making unsafe assumptions (Haven't even seen the trailer in full nor heard it at all for myself, but the internet really seems to want me to).
Put this song in the credits :p

(Note: not that movie's soundtrack unlike the title implies, can you recognize the track of this Sonic game?)
