Even though it would be bad business wise for Nintendo, I would be fine with Smash Ultimate being delayed until 2019 if they needed more time to polish. It would also coincide with the 20th Anniversary of Smash.
You best believe I'll be playing on Magicant as much as possible with that sexy-ass lighting. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1822/9b4b87b0-748c-4d62-b835-73a8e042f2c3/image.png
Yeah, it's easily the color correction on certain stages making the lighting look drab. I'm sure there's other examples of good looking lighting in Smash U.
Given the glitchy shadows we've seen, it's reasonable to think that they're still trying to work out the kinks in the lighting engine. At the very least that'll be easier to modify and improve than the game's entire art style and array of character models.
Yeah, the visuals seems to be rushed compared to Smash 4. Their focus was definitely getting the fighters running for when they said "Everyone is here!", they have them able to be shown.
With the release being 5 months from now, I believe they will tweak a lot.
Honestly I'm fine with the use of color grading in Ultimate, but only on one condition... That they bring back outlines from the 3DS game, as an option
He just put his mustache and shirt in with his socks
I imagine that's what the new universal rim-lighting is for, as was the case with TF2. My bet is that they're just still tweaking it to be more concentrated around the actual rim and not wash out the rest of the model so much.
I think a lot of the lighting in smash 4 was prebaked while ultimate has a realtime lighting system (you can see this with certain fire attacks, the fire actually lights up the model). I think this is just a matter of everything not being finalized yet.
I don't know why you are so concerned about graphics, Mario looks fine to me. Still red, and his hair still black...
Over on GameFAQs, DasVergeben leaked Isabelle as being a fighter alongside Simon Belmont (although the mods deleted the topic for "inciting trolling"). They don't know if Isabelle is gonna be a new fighter or an Echo, but my money is on her being an Echo.
God I hope the thing about Sakurai putting out fake newcomers to weed out leakers is true. I would hate for another E3 leak to happen.
Oddly enough I find it quite believable that some people would try to chase a lead like this. That said, I won't exactly shed a tear if we don't get any more leaks. Ultimate's reveal was so good because we barely knew anything about it (except Ridley, if you believed Vergeben). So while I can understand the annoyance at Vergeben trying to expand his e-dong, it's not like the author of the 4chan post wasn't also trying to do exactly that by pursuing bigger leaks.
So, in terms of potentially leaked fighters, we're now at: Daisy (an obscure 4chan leak revealed Ultimate around 12 hours before E3 direct) Ridley (see above) Simon Belmont (DasVergeben leak) Isabelle (DasVergben leak) Elma (Sakurai mentioned using a figurine for reference on his "next project") Bandanna Dee (if the Amiibo leak that also hinted at Daisy is to be believed)
With Smash 4 giving us a shit ton of characters from popular franchises, I wouldn't be mad if Sakurai used most of the SmUsh slots for unconventional or weird characters. They've always been my favorite in Smash games purely based on flavor (G&W, Duck Hunt, Wii Fit, etc).
Technically he bought a mecha figure for the rifle; he says as much in an old interview from before Smash for Switch was revealed. It's likely he did this to help flesh out poses that need to hold a weapon. https://i2.wp.com/sourcegaming.info/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/GDC-Scan-03.png Elma is far from confirmed (and I say this as someone who really wants her in).
With the Ultimate Newcomer count being on the smaller side, I'm not counting on it, but I would love for Banjo to join. Even with the rumored Minecraft stuff, I'm still not counting on Banjo being added, but it would be nice...
I want Master Hand to finally join the battle as a playable character.
Glover for SmUsh
Step aside for the real MVP here Hamburger Helper for SmUsh
Try that on my Arby's oven mitt or my Crazy Foot secondary.
I wonder if we'll see a slight hint of Ubisoft representation again like what happened with the Rayman trophy in Smash 4. If so, and should we get new codecs, I'm kind of hoping for some sort of response to Ghost Recon: Wildlands' Sam Fisher mission.
God I hope the Snake codec easter egg makes it back in full Just filling in the missing characters would be enough, new convos for the already existing ones would be the icing on the cake
I feel like the likeliest 3rd party characters for this game at this point are likely Simon Belmont and Rayman (probably with a Rabbid AT), with either Crash or Banjo as a third, whether or not it's as a DLC character or not. If the minecraft rep as a Stage or Assist Trophy is true (likely a Creeper I'd assume), then it could be as a microsoft AT rep thing for Banjo, kind of how Bomberman is an assist trophy for Konami with Snake and possibly Simon as playable reps.

Lucina, Dark Pit and Daisy are extras. Just a bit beyond Alph and the Koopalings. ... By the way, they CANNOT pass up the chance to get Wolf and Ridley together and pull off a space pirate joke.
honestly clones only become less and less of a problem as time goes on. game has so many unique fighters now. if we were in the melee days I could 100% understand the frustration
"Otacon, there's a kid who's also a squid here"
I think they'd be rerecording everyone, since some of the old codecs specifically mentioned the game being Brawl. On that note, I think this would mean new Palutena conversations as well. I wonder if we'll see any crossover between the two.
