Super Smash Bros. V8 - Everyone is here! Except that one character you like.

I just hope we finally get Brinstar Depths back. As a kid the stage sort of creeped me out, but as a grew up I thought the gimmick of the stage was incredibly fun. I get why they picked Brinstar as Metroid's Melee Stage for Brawl because it's more iconic, but I'm personally disappointed because the lava gimmick on Metroid stages has gotten boring after getting it for three games in a row (I mean, Brawl already had Norfair as it was) and there's still really no other stage like Brinstar Depths.
Have we seen any footage of the new Fourside yet? It seems to be confirmed but I can't find a single image of it anywhere.
I really love that they seem to be completely redoing the old stages, hope that applies to all of them.
Fourside was in the Everyone is Here trailer when it shows Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings. It's near the end, once the chorus kicks in.

This and other visual bugs (Like Rosalina's dress going all the way up and revealing that only her lower legs are modeled) have been found in the small trailers.
So the game is clearly far from the polish level of release. Same goes with the odd lightning in certain screenshots and gameplay bugs.
Well, it's been almost two months since that trailer and the E3 build (which they're still using at events), so I imagine internally the game is quite a bit further along by now.

Evo soon.
It is also Sakurai's birthday, August 3rd. He is 48.
just fyi the reason mario and the others look so faded and wrong is because their materials aren't properly set, especially the rim light. i imagine they'll try and make them look as close to the renders as possible by release
A thought just hit me. Great Bay is coming back from Melee but the water didn't do anything originally. Is it going to be swimmable now? On one hand it'd be weird but on the other it'd be inconsistent with the other stages for it to not be.
櫻井さん 誕生日おめでとう!
i still can't get over the perspective weirdness with Mario lol. Like I get that he's meant to be closer to the screen then everyone else, but I still just keep seeing it as giant fucking Mario.
Plot twist: Mario is actually ridiculously large because they plan to scale him down and put a newcomer next to him.
Newcomer: Mario's Up-Taunt.
Odds we get a new character reveal at EVO?
It feels like something they would do but I'm staying cautiously optimistic.

I feel like there's a lot of empty space here compared to the other side.
Space doesn't matter seeing how they shifted some of them around.
I'm not sure why, but the idea of Heihachi being a playable character has been stuck in my mind lately. I think Sakurai said he briefly considered Heihachi for Smash 4 before immediately realizing, "Wait, no, Pac-Man makes so much more sense." Maybe Sakurai will revisit the idea? He'd definitely be a good pick for an EVO reveal. Although he isn't nearly as heavily requested as some others, so I'm not sure if he would make the cut.
Ignoring Ms. Pac-Man as a potential echo, Heihachi is in the top 3 most likely picks for a 2nd rep for Namco-Bandai, I feel, alongside Tales characters Lloyd Irving (most popular Tales character in the west and representative of Nintendo's and Namco's relationship) and Yuri Lowell (most popular Tales character in the east and representative of modern Tales).
The only other choices that are plausible at all are Agumon (from the Bandai virtual pet series Digital Monster, more commonly known in the west from the Digimon anime) and Klonoa, with Tamagotchi (an earlier virtual pet line by the same creator team as Digital Monster later) possibly as an assist trophy as well.
Heihachi is used as a reference point for a lot of Brawl moveset animations, so despite there being people that claim he'd be a generic fighter, he actually has quite a few memorable moves that fit right into the game.
Actually the more that I think about it, Yoshimitsu would probably be a more fitting character for Smash. I know it would play to the whole 'sword character' meme, but when you think about his moveset and playstyle, it could totally fit in Smash (I mean maybe besides his Seppuku move). Plus he could technically serve as a representative for both Tekken and Soul Calibur, and since Soul Calibur was on a Nintendo console before (twice), there could be some possibility.
I'd love for Terry Bogard to be a SNK rep.
He would be so hype. And his specials already look like they'd fit right in Smash.
Has anything been announced concerning a Smash Ultimate and Switch Bundle yet? Thinking about getting that if it's an option.
Not yet, but it if does happen, it would be announced closer to launch. Smash Ultimate launches early December (close to Christmas), so any info about bundles would probably be closer to that shopping period.
o lord someone opened up the list of saved names during a livestreamed Melee match at EVO. big mistake

i'd blame the organizers for not checking
I always thought that they'd attempt to put Don-Chan into Ultimate. Namco is one of the main developers of 4 and probably has a sizable stake in the engine of Ultimate. sure DK lost his bongoes for the sake of making final smashes much more instantaneous and cinematic, but DK was allowed to use the Taiko no Tatsujin-styled rhythm markers in 4, when in 3 there was nothing to indicate when to tap buttons. i think the removal of those would be to sync it more with Don-Chan as a rep, if he does get in. his home series had guest stars like Miku Hatsune, Phoenix Wright...and even Dedede and Kirby, even if the idea of guest characters appearing in a game is much when he's appeared, completely unremoved from Yokai Watch 2 (though the series revels in crossovers. like Kumamon/Harry Barry. and the Moogle/Chocobonyan in 3).
Don-Chan has also appeared in the Mario Kart arcade games. it would make a bit of sense for Heihachi to appear, but wouldn't that kind of invalidate Tekken x Street Fighter? (which has been in deepfreeze since 2010) sure him being in smash might invalidate his potential appearance in the game, but his own appearances in crossovers were primarily non-fighters. there's a difference between "Heihachi is fighting against Ryu on his home turf" vs "hey guys. Ryu is in smash with Mewtwo, Mario, Pac-Man, Bayonetta, Sonic the Hedgehog and Cloud and Megaman. AND SNAKE IS BACK!! AND ICE CLIMBERS, dear GOD RIDLEYYY- oh and Heihachi is there too i guess". would it really make sense for there to be 2 similarly-thematic fighters in the game, and from seperate companies no less? Ryu's moveset is sourced mainly from Street Fighter 2, so they'd try to do the same for Heihachi from his series?
I'm thinking Don-Chan will be the WTF character for this game. the other newcomers are probably Porky Minch (mainly to allign with the Everyone's Back tagline), Bubbles (always could use more NES-era characters) and K. Rool, if they're open to the idea of refreshing Metroid, why not Donkey Kong? whilst Mario games are usually considered easy sellers, his platforming games could get excessive sometimes. with DK, his gaps between releases is kind of justified when he was kept in spinoff hell after 64, until Returns.
I'm not discounting Heihachi, i just can't can't imagine why people would want him as a guest in a nintendo game. i have no idea of the Tekken games other than he's a badass that would better represent the series to a bigger audience.
That's like saying that Akuma's presence in Tekken 7 invalidates Tekken X Street Fighter being made.
I'm just speaking in a sense of a kind of contractual obligation. Capcom already kept up their half with Street Fighter x Tekken, but the Tekken x Street Fighter half never really popped around. Akuma in Tekken 7 is probably fine. Street Fighter characters appearing in Tekken as guests doesn't reduce the impact that they have. but it's not like it's Tekken 7 X Akuma. if Ryu and Heihachi was in Smash, the idea of being a party fighter might dilute what little chance Tekken x Street Fighter has left. he appeared...as a Mii Costume, but it also appeared alongside costumes like Lloyd Irving, Akira Yuki, Zero, Megaman.EXE, a Monster Hunter and Geno. but all those elements gives it more of a generalized nod to their fans rather than explicit competition and direct appearences.
DBFZ being top game at EVO would make a Goku reveal absolutely hilariously awesome.
Found this old gem again. How awesome would it be to have a BTT remix like this as an alt menu theme?
