Super Smash Bros. V8 - Everyone is here! Except that one character you like.

Sakurai holds a direct to brings both Lima and Captain Zack to it as he is recorded using his Nintendo magic to send the both of them into an endless state of Limbo in 75m forever, never to be seen or heard from again, only afterwards to act like none of it happened and continues on with what he was originally gonna talk about.
Awesome. Can’t wait to see the Simon reveal, cause you know that’s whats coming.
Well, fingers crossed at least
What amazing leaks have guessed this date right? Is it too soon to throw myself into the wild, wild ride?
At this point there's probably a leak guessing every day until release.
"Due to popular demand, Waluigi has been changed from an assist trophy. He is now a normal trophy, with Kraid taking his place."
I wouldn't be surprised if it did, still I feel they might hold on to him for a October Direct for halloween and stuff.
I swear if we get another fucking sword-based Fire Emblem character announced...
When Waluigi is not an assist trophy, Alfonzo takes his place! "Leave it to me!"
not even talking about waluigi here but that would actually be a kinda cool mechanic
Everyone's talking about Simon Belmont and I'm just sitting here thinking of other "second rep from a third party" characters that could be fun.
Why not Tails? Somewhat similar moveset to Sonic, though what he lacks in speed and ground power, he gains in amazing aerials and possibly the best recovery in the game.
My choice of second third-party rep would probably be Banjo or Rayman.
Maybe Ultimate will finally give us a new F-Zero rep that isn't Ganondorf.
I meant a second rep from a company that already has one
IE, Konami would have Snake and Simon, Sega could have Sonic and Tails, etc
I have a relative that works at Nintendo who let me see the direct early. I won't spoil what's in it but there is a character reveal which I will spoil. It starts off overlooking a map that was in Fire Emblem Warriors. We see all the Fire Emblem reps fighting a group of enemies that will be found in the story mode. But the enemies start to overwhelm them. The camera cuts to the distance where we see a lone silhouette holding a sword. The camera then cuts to their lower body showing a hand holding a smash invitation. We pan up to see that it is chrom. "Chrom's day has arrived" but the moment that happens he gets smacked with a Tennis Racket that appeared from off screen. A gloved hand picks up the dropped invitation. "Waluigi steals his way in"
if they do another non-echo sega rep i'd really like it not be sonic related
Pat (from SBFP) went off or rather did a breakdown about the smash 4 finals. (long thread ahead)

Jesus
Thanks Pat.
Little extreme (as always) but his point is still quite valid; that match was not fun at all to watch, and shows what can happen when a fighting game's community becomes indifferent about its own existence. No one really wants to keep playing Smash4 at pro level anymore, so the ruleset isn't going to be changed, yet the organizers still want it to be played, so reluctantly it gets played with a shitty ruleset, making all parties involved - the organizers, the players, and the audience - look bad.
I'm surprised he even still bothers, then.
pat misses no opportunity to shit on smash and he's the worst person for a smash breakdown

Poor guy, hope he isn't killing himself again with this game's development.
Pat goes out of his way to bitch about Smash as often as possible and acts like a big fucking baby over the series, not exactly an objective observer.
Saw this screencap while lurking on Smashboards. Take it for what it's worth, with a grain of salt of course...

There's like thirty "leaks" on /v/ every day, there's so many monkeys banging on their typewriters that somebody is going to be right at some point. I'd be surprised if there wasn't a post for every day of the month, personally.
Gabe "Glueman" Degrossi confirmed for Smash
He's not exactly wrong though. I love Smash, but it's easily the black sheep of events like EVO; at it's core, its a party game that was forced into being an e-sport because Melee had a shit ton of exploits left in it. You can play it seriously, but it's not designed with that kind of play at the forefront (compared to something like DBFZ or Street Fighter).
Then toss that in the pot with any number of Smash scene stereotypes:
-community loves Melee so much that they'll fling shit at anything that isn't Melee
-high level play all but requires a special kind of defective controller that allows the player to take advantage of bugs, glitches, and exploits
-stale meta
-Melee players don't know how to shower
-community is constantly at odds with the people making the game because Sakurai wants to innovate and the comp scene just wants to play Melee
I'm not gonna claim to be the most knowledgable when it comes to FGC stuff, but it's really evident that Smash has the worst (or at least most toxic) community out of the bunch. Of course I'm talking generally, there are tons of chill people who play Smash competitively, but from where I'm sitting it's not surprising at all that the series tends to carry the sort of stigma that it does.
The grand finals for Dragonball had the crowd yelling along whenever Cell powered up in his intro, the grand finals for Sm4sh had people bitching and moaning about when Melee was gonna start; stuff like that tends to create a bit of a contrast. I love Smash but I can't for the life of me get into the comp scene and shit like that is exactly why.
I don't know what it is about the concept of "don't smell bad" that some people find difficult to process.
They can figure out how wavedashing works but they can't figure out that soap combos directly into water.
What if the Smash Direct on Wednesday is just Sakurai talking about personal hygiene for 40 minutes and revealing that the only way to unlock Geno is to play a minigame where you pretend the Joy-Con is a stick of deodorant
I wonder which sword wielding character from Fire Emblem it will be this time
I never even owned or played Smash 4 and I'm so sick of those
