Super Smash Bros. V8 - Everyone is here! Except that one character you like.

The entire voice cast is a random mish mash of voice quality that doesn't match. Then again, so does the art direction
Is that really relevant though? Cave Story is still one of the most well known indie games. If anything, its age gives it a bit of an edge since it's been proven to not be a flash in the pan with
regards to popularity.
I'll admit I'm a little bias since Cave Story is my favorite indie game and I'd love to see some representation from the series, even if it's just a trophy or something.
hat kid
Yeah, I'm surprised Cave Story didn't get the indie rep trophy Smash 4. Especially considering the WiiWare remake was a big deal at the time of its release.
If they're going to announce a new Fighter, I'm sure it's going to be one that japanese fanbase wants. Ridley was to appeal the western fans as Metroid is much more popular compare to japan.
i think springman is easily the safest bet
I'm going with Rex/Pyra.
You know when you think about it, they could actually add Goku because he is a video game character and is from a Nintendo console:

see? No seriously if Sakurai actually does this to intentionally troll people wanting Goku in Smash, then I wouldn't know if he's a genius or a madman
I think it would be a really cool if Sakurai made another 2-in-1 fighter like the Ice Climbers but with Rex & Pyra instead.
The fuck you mean by "sadly"?! You dangly collection of keys, you!
I feel like Goku would be boring in Smash,.
i just dont find arms to be an interesting game. his inclusion wouldn't do anything for me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
good on those who do like it though
If anything Helix would be a cooler character than Spring Man.
I think a Rex & Pyra implement would be more like the stands in JJBA or the personas in Persona, which is also something we don't have outside of arguably Duck Hunt.
If Rex does get added I think it's going to be something more similar to Shulk, but instead of 5 he'll only have 2 stat boosts (Pyra and Mythra swapping during battle).
Basically so long as Rex has Pyra, his own attacks would be powered up, but she wouldn't fight directly like Nana or Luma would. They're not attacking together, she's just buffing his attacks.
Now that SmUsh can handle stuff like Ice Climbers, I wouldn't mind another duo character.

Rosalina's whole playstyle is weird, because you can't even control where Luma goes. He mimics your attacks, but he's just bouncing all over the place unlike staying by your side like Nana.
Is it shitty to not care at all about newer characters like Rex in favor of characters they've been ignoring for years, ala Banjo and K. Rool?
Because I get they're gonna wanna add newer characters for brand synergy, striking while the iron is hot and people are excited about newer games, but I've always found those kinds of announcements way less exciting and interesting than grand returns; there's a reason the two best Sm4sh trailers were Mega Man and Little Mac.
It'd be awesome if they did a Bowser Jr. and just made the whole cast(or at least the ones that could share animations) into one fighter.
Especially considering they're supposedly taking the ballot into account. New franchise reps (ie they had no playable characters in before) and old characters who had the popularity but not the relevancy are more exciting to me than third parties or newer characters.
Rosalina is basically a linked puppet character. You can control your puppet (Luma) through your own attacks and movement, but you can't do moves that cause it to move by itself, it's always done by Rosalina (unless you count when he moves back to Rosa after getting hit).
She's still technically a puppet character, just in a different way.
So wait, his actual movement around the stage isn't random? I always thought he was going wherever he wanted but still attacked in sync with you, so you simply had to take advantage of when he was in a useful spot. I guess sorta like Byte and Barq in ARMS.
I would totally up for Ashley from WarioWare. Or anyone from WarioWare in general besides Wario.
You know, in case that wasn't clear enough.
Someone had a good idea of adding 9-Volt as the retro character, and he uses references to old Nintendo accessories and consoles as his moves.
I think a lot of people in the West at least would prefer having Captain N in a role like that, even though there would probably be legal issues in doing so and Japanese players just would have no idea who he was. Like throwing in Nester or something.
HOT NEW LEAK:
Captain N is a newcomer, alongside Simon Blemont. Here he is with Mega Man, Duck Hunt Dog, Pit, and Princess Daisy:

Y'know, I almost want them to do it, because Simon is likely as it is and everyone else is literally already in.
Springman could have an alternate costume that would be Springtron, which is literally a robot version of him, with only one thing separating them from their game which would be their secondary abilities.
Maybe Ribbon Girl as an alternate/interchangeable character? She doesn't have anything too crazy in ARMS besides her having more jumps and air-dashes then the rest of the cast.
I think the coolest thing they could do with an ARMS character is have a sort of Ryu situation.
Spring Man (or whoever) always faces their opponent. A left Side-B would shoot out the left arm, and a right Side-B would shoot out the right arm, which would then move back to them.
