I feel like people would be more okay with the whole DLC shit if they had released a post-1.0 road map with it, in a sort of "we want to do X Y Z, but we need a couple bucks because we have terrible time management and it's been five or six years since most of you bought the game" way
Imagine building space-ships with friends but nobody can fly your ships because you have the DLC cockpit and they don't.
Been playing a bit of survival with a few mods, mainly ones that add new hostile ships. Currently running the game on a potato, but here's my haul so far. Haven't even bothered building a base yet, really. Trimming down that fatass welder/grinder on the far left so it'll operate properly in lunar gravity, then off to cannibalise every single other ship.

Just put how many of each block you need on the left and it will break it down into total required base components and ingots. Also gives a ballpark on ore too, but it's not all too accurate. It's not all too useful for huge builds but it lets you get an estimate at least, great for small/medium stuff though.

Finished designing a survival ship, crammed as much as I could into as small a space as possible (pretty much the back 2/3rds is completely solid space). Flies reasonably well in earth gravity. Looks a bit too shrink-wrapped, but as a survival ship it's basically got everything I could need. Also for some reason FP uploaded the images in reverse order.

Also a bit of an update on the seemingly useless cockpit LCDs - it seems custom scripts can use them if they've been updated for it, which unfortunately means older scripts won't work unless their authors are still active and can be convinced to work on them again.
At least some of the more popular scripts have been updated, like 3D Ship Projection or Automatic LCDs 2, which is likely the most useful one of them all
This artificial horizon one is also quite nice
Finished building it in survival, drained a few ships I captured of their oxygen, hydrogen and uranium fuel. Just need to come up with a good paint job for it now.

Finished a hydrogen storage tank (consisting of four hydrogen tanks, prolly gonna build more), and a landing pad specifically tailored to my survival craft, inc. landing alignment marker, and resupply connector that fits perfectly)

Don't suppose anyone really gives a toss, given the lack of activity in this thread, but eh it's the most suitable place to dump these. Completed one half of the blast doors. Slightly wibbly wobbly even when not moving, so i'll prolly need to add some timed landing gear to hold it completely still when retracted or extended. Pics seem to be reversed order again, last one is creative prototype.
Door reduces my framerate by quite a bit when in motion, but I am running this on a potato laptop.

I remember building a base kind of like this once - a round shaft going straight down with multiple hangar bays and levels stacked in the inner walls, covered by blast doors camouflaged to match the surrounding Martian sand
it was pretty whack
Finished the blast door, added landing gear locks to prevent wobble when stationary (manually triggered tho atm)

We get most (90%) of our ship building components from scrapping reavers but when we need ice/uranium or harder to get things like thruster components or superconductors then we break out the mobile mining outpost

Built it around a station core we prepped for New Titan Station (RIP Old Titan Station, nuked by Reavers) but repurposed it since we needed a big mining platform at the time

Does no damage, instead turns off a random block within a small radius around the point of impact. Makes it pretty easy to disable and take over NPC ships fully intact, though your mileage may vary when using it in atmosphere, as it might turn off the target's reactor and cause it to crash
Going to pitch that to the guys to stick it on our server, we've been using railguns to snipe off the guns of NPCs (or their remote control blocks if you're a good shot) and with some modifications this could make it so we still achieve that goal just with less wasted components for the chop shop. Need to keep the shipyard churning out ships, already takes days to build a heavy armored ship as it is, weeks if you're making a battlecruiser and above, even with our massive ship builder that builds ships in complete slices at a time.
Finished three more partially buried, heavily armoured hydrogen tanks (also makes a nice place to put turrets), started work on a control room for the hangar, and an observation window of sorts.

Third hangar completed (cba making a big small ship, so just got a repainted captured NPC one in there), added a corridor around the periphery which'll eventually connect to other stuff. Got airtightness working in most places, need to make automated airlock systems tho.

There's so much shit that's still broken yet they add skins...
Yet I do hope that somehow leads to a worn/damaged look that can accumulate over time.
(And only just this week I found out that monoliths weren't in the solar system start map. sigh)
I don't know if there's an equivalent thread for this on Knockout, but I suggest someone makes it quickly if there isn't.
