Can anyone recommend a good arcade racer, preferably on Steam? I was thinking of just picking up NFS: Hot Pursuit even though I know it's not as good as the older games, is it worth it?
If you're not looking specifically for contemporary cars, GRIP is about as good of an arcade racer as you can get.

I think I've found my Peanut Butter & Jelly combo, the DTM 1992 cars and the sachenring. It has such a nice mix verticality, fast corners, technical corners and a lot of opportunities for the bigger cars to flex their muscles.
I'd like to take a moment to praise RaceRoom's AI once more, this clip for example, I fight that E30 all the way up the hill I bully him outside of the track limits he still fights me, he takes advantage of the space I give him on the next corner and only when I block the line out of the fast corner where the bigger opel has the advantage do I win the fight.

Wow, that is gorgeous. Best sounding GTE car atm. Also, on the topic of Raceroom: if you guys haven't tried multiclass racing yet, you really should. It's unbelievable how convincing the AI looks at working through traffic. Looks like the real thing. I think if Raceroom gets the ranking system working like they want to, then I think it'll be a really good competitor for multiplayer sim racing. They already have stats tracking, they just need to get it implemented so that puts people into matches. Hope they can get it done, they're a small team.

You'll need to set these in sol_config.lua:
ppfilter__modify_glare = false
ppfilter__modify_godrays = false
I think that's what needs to be done, but I might've forgotten something. If you don't use Sol, tell me and I'll try to find an older version

DR 2.0 feels solid (at least best I can tell with a pad) but has some weird oversights. Like, you start career with literally no money for repairs so your first rally is pure survival. I broke my headlights on stage 2 and then stage 4 was well, this. Fucked me up pretty hard.
