I don't think I've ever been as blown away by a presentation of a game as Horizon 4 has so far. I can't help but grin throughout the entire first hour of my playthrough.

The one bad thing I can say about FH4 so far is that the car upgrade trees progress really slowly for my playstyle. Part of the appeal of FH3 for me was that every time I started up the game I could take any car and mod the hell out of it then learn how to properly race it. Now while I can still do that in FH4, I know that I'm missing out on all those skills when I just hop from car to car, and it progresses so slowly you really have to stick with what you're driving to get anything.

I never thought always online would be that great and all, but on the very first day I got this game I found the Peel P50 and I lined it up at the festival drag tree when suddenly another one of them shows up next to me. I didn't actually realise but it's pretty logical, the tree light is synced even in freeroam so at green we just went for it.
It was actually a decently close race and it was really fun to just punt this dinky thing across the strip together with some random guy in the same car!!
Add in the I4 + AWD conversions, it can do 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. You can't steer it at full throttle either, but that's just part of the fun.

Engine sounds are just completely fucked in FH4 and they really should fix it. Some cars with the same displacement/cylinders sound the exact same and the boxer engine sound doesn't exist
Fwd are typically the lightest so they are more tossable, and also you can be lazy with them - any understeer can be countered with lift-off, and oversteer can simply be countered with more throttle.
I feel like maybe I'm kicking up too much of a fuss but it's really killing immersion. Doubt anythings gonna be fixed, it's this new 'granular' sound engine apparently. The 'good' engine sounds from last year (see: R33 GTR) were just old sounds that hadn't yet been updated for the new sound engine.
The GTRs here share a sound file with like 6 other vehicles. What the fuck? That's just lazy. All of the Imprezas sound like EL 2015+ WRXs. Loads of V8s are using V12 sounds.

I've been aching for a good open-world acing game for ages and FH4 might fit the bill, been watching some streamers play it and it looks good so I'm tempted to buy it. However way back when, I had the demo for FH3 and for some reason it didn't like my wheel/pedal setup (wheel and pedals are from different manufacturers) and was unplayable, has anyone had any issues like that in FH4?
Really enjoying FH4 but I'm having some stutter issues that get worse the longer I play (to the point it almost gets unplayable ~30 minutes in). I have 2x4GB RAM, an XFX 280x and an i5 3470. What component is holding me back? Could it be my VRAM (I only have 3GB)?
idk about vram but i had absolutely massive framerate and stuttering problems in horizon 3 when i had only 8 gigabytes of ram, when i upgraded to another cpu/motherboard combo with 16 gigabytes of ram without changing my gpu the game ran perfectly
You're right on the borderline for minimal requirements, your CPU will be bottlenecking your GPU and depending if thats DDR3 or DDR4 memory, that 8GB is getting hammered.
Also if you don't have a fuckhuge pagefile to make up for it or an SSD, you're going to get stutters as its a UWP game, they absolutely hate HDDs because them hammer them with requests.
maybe 10 points was too low but the increase to 40 forzathon points for a wheelspin is way too much especially if you dont have the bonus.
kinda pissed i was saving my point and was going to buy 50+ once i saw what this weeks cars were

Yeah, too bad since I don't really have the money for an upgrade. Investing in DDR3 seems wasteful too since i'd probably have to replace it later with DDR4 anyway. Sigh.
And I thought my 8GB pagefile would've been enough ;(. Any size that's recommended with 8GB RAM?
