TF2 General Chat and Speculation Station V8 - ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ Give Heavy Update

a single person helping out the sentry can make it so megaheal is outdpsed (teamfortress)
heck even a lone level 3 sentry can sometimes do it if the rockets land
the worst part of QF is not its supposed benefits, its the overheal.
you could literally equip stock medigun, never press mouse2 and you'd still help out your team way more.
As I see it, the QF's nature makes it better as a middle ground between stock and kritz simply because its megaheal isn't tied to either attack or defense. popping a QF uber at any time will always benefit the team simply because as long as people takes damage the heal boost will do its job negating it, even if its to keep you (the medic) alive and pull your out of death as a last resort. but as a jack of all trades it doesn't really excell at any given situation, so over time you can always work your way to use stock uber or a crit boost as you develop your game sense.
in other terms, QF (even after the nerf) is still a much, much simpler version of stock with an even simpler mechanic tied to it so any newcomer can just roll with it and get stuff done. however, It certainly needs a small revision to make it fits this role far better.
personally i use quickfix if my team isnt pulling back to be fully healed. The quicker heal speed helps me get everyone to a better level oh health than the medigun could do.
I know certain weapons are kinda bad in high level of play, but casual mode does have situations that certain trade offs can be useful and even more importantly, fun.
funny you mention this because quick fix is literally the only weapon in TF2 thats better in comp but not in pubs. no other item can even assume this title.
False. Vaccinator.
i mean its very easy to have a source of bullet or explosives nearby. comp isn't the place where people would throw themselves into a vac all alone...

This is real sad.
the guy does seem bitter af
Oh my god the guy is implying the Source engine is so buggy and bloated because all the devs are only looking out for their own bonuses and do their own useless changes.
And that coders are financially incentived to break each others' work.
His testimony is consistent with other accounts, such as the ones posted on Glassdoor. Given Valve's apparent lack of productivity, this information does raise questions. In spite of this, I don't think the statements made by these former employees should be used as lightning rods of anti-Valve sentiment. If anything, I would consider them half true; yes, the experiences they present are likely real, but only from a certain point of view. Unfortunately, given how taciturn Valve is, this negative commentary is our only candid window into their internal operations. Current employees can't really be trusted to be entirely forthright, what with job security being an obvious concern.
As far as how all of this relates to TF2--and yes, even their treatment of other live service games--I would say it's only part of a larger problem. It's quite tragic really.

I mean come on this guy is either trolling, had a mental breakdown, or this is the next Valve ARG.
Even the janitors have centuple monitor setups and rearview mirrors. Not even the potted plants can escape the corporate arm's oversight. Their barons roam the offices at night, stalking any prey that dares work overtime for anti-purge credits.
Is it truly that far-fetched to see a former employee seethe at their former employer? I'm sure to many people at Valve, it can be frustrating. Heck, we're certainly frustrated as consumers.
Lord Exor is right, we should take his tweets as half-truths. An ex-employee can hold negative views of his previous company, but I don't know. Valve been lacking a ton in... Online presence? Haven't seen PR from them, innovations with a visible impact to the common user (For example: VR and Steam Link seem out of my reach, as well as a ton of users), and Rich G. seems to be representing a horrible image of open office spaces. I remember someone posted about "Barons/Leaders" that could sway the opinion and fire anyone due to their massive influence, they are enfatized on his story.
Now the Combine wallls in the office makes sense.
He's obviously being hyperbolic, but being that he's actually worked at valve, i'm inclined to believe him. It just makes sense from what valve is actually doing.
People like Dave Riller and Robin Walker who are original Valve employees that worked on Half Life 1 are likely power players within the company and the reason that TF2 was supported for so long (besides the economy). Of course they can't force people to work on the game but as long as some of the bigger players within Valve is interested in TF2 that's good for us.
You also have someone like Henry Goffin who used to work at Valve and disputes that things are as bad as Rich claims:

The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. I doubt things are as bad as Rich claims that they are but I don't think anyone disputes Valve could be doing things better than they are now and their structure seems to cause some issues.
As a person that has followed every FPS thing Valve has done for the last ten years, it seems that things are falling apart more so now then ever before. What depresses me the most is how there is the zero information on the next major update for TF2. What am I supposed to speculate on now, VR games?! Artifact?!
I'm hoping the lack of communication means that an update is right around the corner but the frustrating thing with Valve is that you just don't know. It could just mean that they don't feel like communicating right now.
I don't think it's right around the corner, but I hope it's sooner then next year.
It isn't exactly without precedent for Valve to drop an update without any prior information regarding it. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if 2018 went by as the first year without a major update. With each passing year, TF2 reaches more depressing milestones.
I would be more worried if valve employees who are still active in valve start to publicly complain about the structure too, when that happens shit will have reached a really shitty point then.
In that case I am going to guess that they will be turned into "non-Valve employees" pretty quickly. And then we the public will go bananas because we will have confirmation of their shitty practices and demand answers. And Valve will be all like

What is a non valve employee anyways?People they hire for a limited contract to do work on their fundations like electricity or uncloging their toilets or can valve employees be demoted to non valve employees?
Uh, someone who isn't a Valve employee?
Rich later agreed to Henry that both hierarchical and self-organizing models have their pros and cons.

as I said before people have different experiences in companies and narrative plays a big role in that, looking at the broader picture of all experiences will give you a decent idea, however taking a single guy's ramblings on twitter as the cold hard truth is rather naive
So what are we going to do during this year’s five month wait?
i vote we talk about hiw
dunno about you, but putting my bias aside Pyro is quite fun to play, and things are tangibly better than they were pre and post JI.
being able to aim with the FT and getting rid of the waving issue really makes dogfigthing agaisnt brain dead pyro players far better towards you.
a shame they had to kill dragon fury tho
The waving issue for max damage didn’t exist for JI, so valve actually loses points for taking so long to fix it.
The fact remains that the class is still the worst in the game in terms of role effectiveness, and hasn’t been improved competitively by the update, since it’s still a low damage short range punching bag, with little impact on the game beyond reacting to enemy spy picks and projectile spam.
