TF2 General Chat and Speculation Station V8 - ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ Give Heavy Update

I dont play fortnite either and I love tf2. lol. Im just saying with how long these guys have been doing a labor of love and how sparse these updates are getting I think maybe its time.
There are more games than just Tf2 and Fortnite
Im saying all games have their time and can we really be upset if these devs who have worked on it for so long are starting to maybe want to move on?
Valve just seems to have a manpower problem in general not just TF2, 350ish people doesn't seem like it's nearly enough for all they're doing. Does seem like they're interested in expanding though with the new bigger office and new website though.
There's a very limited number of PvP multiplayer games out there that have high player counts, and I don't want to play any of them.
Yeah but new hires understanably usually want to work on new and innovatiev projects, not an 11 year old legacy game. I doubt their expansion will help, maybe its just time for tf2 to transistion to community support only.
TF2 and Payday 2 (to a small extent CSGO) are the only multiplayer games that have managed to really grab me, more of a single player fellow.
I can somewhat agree with this sentiment, but I have found rainbowsix to be loads of fun too.
I just play TF2 cuz it's fun and there's not much else compared to it in the modern age with it still having a playerbase.
If it gets updated it's a celebration, but I just enjoy the game as it is and don't tend to care if an update take months to a year to come out.
As long as it 'eventually' comes out and promises aren't broken.
I know some people cling to wanting an update asap and are sick of Valve's bullshit, but what can you do 'eh?
sir you aren't allowed to say this here.
That’s bull. There are indie games with like, a two man dev team that get more community interaction and communication than tf2, a legendary genre-defining mainstay in the FPS community.
i still gotta pay to play the game. dunno what you're talking about
communication sure, but we are talking about ability to release content for a giant genre defining shooter. If I was one of the five guys tasked with keeping this thing afloat I would want to move on and advance my career.
Content is as simple as changing a few lines of code (like turning off random crits!) and adding community requests or content that is already made (frontline when).
The dev team at my job could do that, probably for free, be overseen and approved of by valve, and there we go, small updates every once in a while while the tf team proper works on the larger stuff and the overall plan.
But no 😒
Weren't we just speculating a few pages ago that, at this point. adding new content to the game might be a huge burden on the engine?
if it's permanently relevant stuff like weapons, that's no problem
if it's garbage like the bioshock president skulls for soldier, then no pls.
This is a fair point, and a big problem with valve. I think the best couse of action now is to release heavy changes and then start shipping community updates every few months. Requires minimal manpower and keeps community going. Then the devs can also work on other things and get their bonuses. :-/
If we're on about the medals thing, I'm almost certain that's due to projects popping up everywhere wanting 20 new medals to be added in-game every year.
I think vnn jumped there in thinking it's due to the engine falling apart, it's been held together by tape for literally years at this point.
Yeah, I think thinking they dont wanna add medals anymore because the "engine is falling apart" is a bit much
I'm honestly surprised there isnt a more streamlined and simple system for medals yet given how annoying it must be that every drive-by clown wants one nowadays like the "unusual bug hat"
Hey! Since TOWIV3 thread is rarely checked out by anyone, I would like to get an opinion from the bigger part of the comunity (its a realy small thing that wont change much but I was thinking about for like a month now)
Skärmnyckel
Level [x] Wrench
+If a BUILDING is LVL 3 you can now spend 35 metal per swing to create a shield around it
+You can do it up to 3 times
+LVL 3 Shield protects against around 120dmg, LVL 1 against around 40dmg
--You need to wait until the shield is gone for 1.5s before you can start creating a new one.
+10% faster swing speed
--20% health on buildings
--25% slower repair rate
Feel free to say how unbalanced it is, ha. every word counts!
Seems like an MVM weapon primarily. I like more uses for metal, and the tradeoffs seem decent.
no idea if it would be really balanced, but sounds alright.
Why the fuck is Valve comp so fun?
Is the problem with people abandonig fixed yet?
What problem was it again?
everytime a teaam was losing they abandon and then just wait for penalty to expire
If someone leaves mid-match they're replaced with a bot.
One of the times I tried playing comp with my bro, our medic (who sucked) quit and was replaced with a bot that immediately performed better.
Wait really? I haven't touched TF2 comp ever, but does it really replace dropped players with bots? That's really cool.
It's better then nothing...
I thought I heard though if enough people dropped it acts like the match didn't count though. Which was the main reason I never got past beta with comp. If that's not the case maybe I'll start looking for some dedicated teammates that communicate to play comp with perhaps.
I wouldn't know I usually just sit in queue for 30-60 mins and then give up
