TF2 General Chat and Speculation Station V8 - ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ Give Heavy Update

That's nice... If he's shooting you he's giving away his position and you can possibly kill him before it fully charges. If he runs back to spawn to recharge and come back and the flag isn't already gone then his teammates could have easily grabbed the intel themselves and ran it for a cap and it takes up to 20 seconds to fully recharge a completely drained Dead Ringer.
I don't quite understand what you're trying to get at with this post.
You do realise people generally camp around the intel to protect it and the Dead Ringer spy can't cloak on demand to help make it easier for him to get close enough to the Intel right?
Yes? That's the point that's being addressed here. A DR spy can quickly jump onto a fortified intel, and feign away to keep stalling for his team to make a push. I've done it, I've seen other people do it.
The point was if there's 5 people guarding the intel, there's also a good chance they'll find the spy before he gets remotely close to the intel and attack him before he can pick it up as well.
And if he doesn't (which happens often), he can keep abusing the DR and CTF mechanics.
What I'm trying to get at is CTF is a flawed mode and making a deal over a Spy watch being usable to extend the flag's neutral/dropped position isn't doing you any good. The Dead Ringer wasn't designed with CTF in mind. CTF is just a mode that exists in the game. The devs haven't actively balanced around CTF mode for years.
no one cares that CTF has a bad reputation. DR beeline is a very common and effective way to constantly reset and bring a flag closer foot by foot because there's no countering a shielded unflickerable invisible person outside of parking a dedicated pyro + dispenser (which even then can be avoided with spycicle and slightly less beeline). it is a legitimate thing to vent about and you aren't gonna stop people from posting because it annoys you.
Hum, finally got around to getting another Strange Plaid Potshotter mk.II but not sure if I should use it to make a Festivized Shotgun or Panic Attack. Shotgun would probably be the safer bet, but I also have a Festive Shotgun as well ( I like the flannel like paint, it actually compliments festive looks IMO, why I used the first one I got on the Heavy's Minigun ), but I actually do enjoy using the Panic Attack thanks to the fixed bullet spread. I also think it looks a bit better IMO. The black kind of breaks it up a bit more.
This is mainly to be used on my Pyro, as I don't festive Engineer or Soldier, and I generally don't use shotguns on Heavy for obvious reasons.

Also on a side note. I'm curious as to anyone having any idea's on how to improve the voting system in this game. Not as much as changing how it functions or works ( outside of keeping parties from abusing the shit out of it ), but ways to make changes to keep people from just hitting F1 to make the box go away lol. Think there's any good way to do that to encourage people to actually look and vote honestly.
Currently, I'd think it was just where pops up and the fact that it's distracting, it pulls your eyes away from the game and people just mash F1 to have it disappear as quickly as possible even without seeing what it was about in the first place.
I guess another one would be when voting to kick someone off, I wish there was a way to actually see what that player is actually doing to see if it was a good reason to kick him. Half the time when it pops up, I'm not sure that it's not just a jackass that's trying to get people kicked off or if it's a genuinely good reason. I can't always just find where this guy is to see what he's doing and if he needs to actually be kicked or not.
Any good suggestions?
I wish there had been more High Roller's weapon skins.
It's one of those very nicely detailed and just overall pleasant skins to look at.
You need to work on your attitude, jesus christ. Why the needless lashing out at the end? I understand how it works just fine, and you responding like a child with "well if you dont know how it works then just shut up!" isn't going to make your rambling any more valid than what I say.
One gripe of mine that I'm surprised that haven't fixed is the timing of the countdown.
"Mission begins in 5... 4... 3... 2... 1......... ............... BEGIN"
Just had a really strange dream last night, stupidly over TF2.
I was playing an update announced as the About Time! update.
It was really odd, I think it added a bunch of things that were long abandoned.
Cuz I was playing MvM again and the page for it just had a skeleton janitor with cobwebs over it with a bunch of things never again used piled beside it. (noisemakers, decal tool, etc)
A bit grim but suited the idea and TF2's humor.
So it got me thinking if such an update existed, what would it contain content wise?
Dusty Crate, a return of the Shuffle Crate.
Containing:
Noisemakers old an new
Strangifiers for weapons without strange variants.
Chemistry Sets
Paints old and perhaps new tinges of paint, only as extra loot.
Cosmetics & Weapons made specifically for the decal tool.
Also from the update, gameplay additions:
MvM:
MvM new missions picked from the popular iron gauntlet and canteen crasher community events.
New botkillers for new missions
CTF:
Return rate of intel is increased per teammate nearby (scout 2x return rate).
Removed intel capture crits and made a command to activate it for server owners.
Gamplay Changes:
Removed critical hits can be toggled for server owners.
General Changes:
Casual:
Casual now has a tick box if you want to join a community server with your casual settings (would only join approved servers)
Legacy browser has been updated with a spiffy user friendly UI.
Return of Quickplay don't care what you play as long as there's fighting? Casual introduces a 'Quickplay' button which just throws you into a populated server quickly.
(searches with all gamemodes in mind, minus misc gamemodes).
Legacy Browser is available to use in the casual menu to find current casual and public servers fitting your settings.
Competitive:
Be rewarded for your determination with a free case which doesn't require a key! (rewarded after so many completed matches, limited to only 1 case per day)
The case will contain a large and expanding selection of always factory new skins and rare themed cosmetics that can only be gained from the competitive case.
(none are marketable)
Game notifies you if MMR failed to find similar ranked players and if you'd like to be matched to any rank at a lower XP rate if ranks are lower, higher if they're higher.
Misc Changes:
Every player who logs in from now till forever will gain their casual and competitive badge as cosmetics to wear, these will update visually as they progress, wear it with pride!
Badges can now be equipped in the action slot (action bind does nothing but play a 'ching' metallic sound effect, akin to Duck Journal)
Decal tool can now be colored officially again!
And that's all I can really think up of, sorry for the large post over a stupid dream.
But hey, it got me thinking and surprisingly an update based around bringing back the abandoned/demanded stuff can actually be quite a meaty update.
What'd you guys want to see out of an update which theme is bringing back or update abandoned/demanded stuff?
On the note of Botkillers, I doubt anybody would value them very highly even if new ones were added. War Paints exist, so people aren't looking to migrate to even newer reskins. Especially if we have Unusual skins and the like these days.
I think it'd be best if they added them in as Botkiller-ifiers in the same way as Festivizers. If they really wanted, they could even add new Australiums as an always-Factory New War Paint.
Botkiller-ifiers, or adding the ability to add war paints to botkillers, would probably be the best way of approaching the issue, yeah.
Perhaps along with a new pool of killstreak effects.
I'd love to see them add new killstreak sheen-types along with new eye effects.
We have that shimmer effect right now, and people have made mods for a pulsating effect to replace it. I think it'd be neat if we had stuff like that, but it might add an unnecessary amount of extra "tiers" of killstreak effects, especially pro.
You should copypasta this onto r/tf2. I'd be curious to see what those people think
I don't really touch reddit nowadays unfortunately.
Plus too used to basic ideas being shot down all too often with next to no constructive criticism other than "it sucks cuz I don't like it"
making custom tours official is a big no, at any rate.
This still boggles me to be honest. It's been how many years now? Still no community MvM content at all?
it shouldn't actually happen though. Problem with sales share, problem with bias, problem with immortalizing terrible design. You don't want to glorify things made by people bad and clueless at the mode.
really, it's pretty similar to balancing around casual joes rather than comp people pouring their souls in the game.
I mean we did get Junction and Hoodoo made official.
It's just baffling how little Valve has actually done with the material they had laid out. They could very well do a contest similar to the artpass contest where they control the layout and bot pathing and look to community members for wave designs (or just reusing existing maps it's crazy how they practically reinvent the wheel every time they wanted a new set of missions aside from the mecha engine backporting the mechanics to a few maps). The tools are there, it's just there's no fanfare or draw for custom MvM content aside from a very small subset of the community. People will play custom MvM, it's just they're not in the public eye so there's a very very slow feedback loop for people wanting to hone their designs -- sometimes the loop comes to a standstill simply because there isn't enough desire to play them.
feels like that for the most of the community the excitement of MvM died around the time 2cities started to near 2 years old
after that it was some people who enjoyed the game mode and mann up grinders who legit don't care about the mode if they can't get golden guns out of it
even if they inject new life into MvM with an update focused solely on it its going to take a seriuosly strong ammount of work to make people jump back into MvM.
Only posting so people can see the seventh page. Hopefully that bug gets fixed soon enough.
Honestly I don't care as long as there's new missions in MvM. I just want something new instead of doing the same old shit over and over again.
The fact that facestabs are still a thing in game after ten fucking years really makes me think Valve doesn't give a single shit, it's astounding.
I think all you really need is some cool new Australiums (and possibly other shiny weapons like silver and/or team colored ones) as rewards, a snazzy update page, some new maps and missions and most people would be happy to play some MVM again.
Update the Squad Surplus voucher to have some random rare drops like strange parts, a few exclusive unusual effects for hats and a few exclusive war paints since they're basically useless now.
As for payments give the event a unique Tour of Duty ticket. Don't make it required to play on the new maps, but if you use this exclusive Tour of Duty ticket any Australium/shiny weapon dropped during the event and a few Botkillers get an exclusive unusual effect. The ticket reverts to a normal one after the event the map/mission makers get a cut of the ticket sales.
It's frustrating to see Valve just let the MVM gamemode rot with old content when an update like that probably wouldn't take a huge amount of time/resources and they have tons of community content they can pull from. Could you imagine if the Blue Moon update also shipped with this kind of MVM update?
Sigsegv asked Jill about updating the Source 2013 base
I've emailed John Schoenick (a.k.a. Jill) about this a few times, and he says they still do plan to get this stuff updated, but that higher-priority tasks keep coming up and getting in the way. So... Valve Time.
We have confirmation they're working on something
you can't fix latency
