I believe that Nintendo could do it, but I don't believe they'd do it just 2 years after the console came out. It's still too early; fragmentation between playerbases would be large.
I can expect more of this sort of thing around the 4th or 5th year.
His status as a Nintendo leaker is spotty at best. I'll believe it when I see it.
Calling him spotty is generous, Never forget:

Personally I would be extremely pissed. I knew an upgraded switch would come along at some point. but not even two years after releasing? That sounds like they are trying to double dip if true.
No they won't. Like. Are you joking.
Didn't they say a while back that they wouldn't be doing 4K stuff?
As a person who bought a switch from day one I would be pissed if there were already games i couldn't play already on it.
Have any of these "known Nintendo leakers" ever been right? All I ever think of whenever I see these types of "leaks" is this:

Digital Foundry had an article on how the Tegra X1 is made on a bit of a uncommon manufacturing process. I'm expecting a sidegrade or some little upgraded version of the Switch in the next 18 months, just for the efficiency of moving to a cheaper chip platform.

At first I mixed up Marcus Sellars and Liam Robertson in my head and thought this had some grain of truth to it. Then I remembered Marcus Sellars was the one who greedily ate up a bunch of fake Smash leaks and immediately shoved them out onto the internet without any degree of verification. I can once again rest easy.
Didn't Nintendo hold a press conference just to apologize way back when they slashed the original 3DS' price? No way they'd screw with people like that, especially while they're riding high on all sorts of lucrative good will.
I don't know why anyone ever gives those 'leakers' traction.
They're wrong constantly.

I dunno, fuck Marcus in particular
A revision so early is very unlikely. Stop giving that Marcus tweet so much attention. There are enough posts in that twitter feed exposing him as absolutely unreliable.
Speculation aside, real talk though; if they're doing a hardware revision this early, it might have something to do with the hardware-centric modding backdoor that the switch has,
as a hardware revision would be literally the only way to fix it. No idea if the rumors are true (especially considering who they're from) but the idea of Nintendo pushing out a new Switch
this early due to the vulnerability the Switch has built into it's hardware sounds like something they'd do, and gives it a slight ring of possibility in my eyes.
Nah, it's way too early for a revision; the thing still sells like hot cakes. Nintendo only puts out a revision once the market's been saturated.
However, I does seem likely for them to quietly modify the hardware to prevent privacy, without any fanfare.
I seem to recall this already being the case, with new consoles coming with fixed hardware, but I cannot find any article that supports my claim.
i don't think sellers just about understand's what the switch would need to natively run 4K
hint: 8gb of ram is not nearly enough
the fucking chips that it would need are used to power ELECTRIC CARS not handheld gaming devices
There will be a revision when the next gen consoles come knocking so Nintendo will be still relevant.
That post from Twitter has been taken down, so here's an archive:

From what I understand reading in the hacking community (Very little mind you), Nintendo would quietly do a hardware revision for certain exploits, and I believe the general consensus is that they either mostly likely have already or will do so relatively soon. They've really been pushing for better security, and for the most part, have done quite well. Piracy on the Switch faces quite a hurdle with what Nintendo has done to authenticate the games, by that I mean they actually check this stuff now. They just did a similar style of security onto the 3DS, which affected the biggest and easiest way to pirate 3DS games.
Honestly I'm just hoping that after they do this security stuff on the Switch, that they will do some actual features for the damn system. Like themes, apps, a web browser :V but knowing Nintendo, I doubt they'll do anything for fear of introducing an exploit or whatever their reasoning is.
I can't find any articles either but this is certainly the case. The original version of the switch has a fully rubberized kickstand, while the version I have (a month old) is mostly plastic with a rubberized piece at the bottom. Additionally the joycons have slightly different L and R buttons on top and feel less sturdy.
Yeah, if Nintendo wanted to patch the security explot that led to Homebrew in the Switch, it'd make more sense to do it quietly and with it being probably the only thing changed, rather than needlessly spending money on upgrading other parts of the Switch less than 2 years after it's been out.
So my left joycon keeps moving left on its own.
ive updated my controllers and tried to calibrate them and that’s where I can see the problem. It just keeps moving left. Think my girlfriend did it when we went in two player. Guess shit happens
dont supposed any of you guys have any other suggestions?
going to call the Nintendo help line tomorrow and ask for help but I bet they’ll just ask be to send it in for a repair. Guess that’s cheaper then buying a new controller.
Are nintendo any good at repairs
Repair dont take them that long and if they seriously cant fix it they'll just replace it. It shouldn't cost you anything
Thank you, I will keep this in mind. Quite reassuring
also guys, if you are still getting problems. Try cleaning the dust on your joycons. It doesn’t involve opening your controllers.
just done this myself from this video and my controllers are perfect again.

Decided to remake one of the original ghost models from Luigi's Mansion.

I'll be cautiously optimistic. We've had surprise directs before, but I also think they might just have confused it with the Fire Emblem Heroes direct coming later today.
