Think of it like how they did Majora's Mask under a year by using the same engine and assets as Ocarina of Time. Same idea with Super Star Saga and Bowser's Inside Story on 3DS using Dream Team and now Luigi's Mansion using Dark Moon's assets. Easy to produce and quick cash, and given how successful the 3DS is, it's a no brainer.
that makes sense. i just feel like it's a game that deserves better
That's the problem when you need to account for a screen that could get hard to see in direct sunlight. However this remake doesn't seem to be as bad as I thought it'd be in that department.

It calls for a celebration indeed. *Yays monotonely* OVERKILL's The Walking Dead is releasing on the Switch too, right?
At least Luigi’s Mansion coming out on 3DS instead of the Switch means Nintendo won’t have the gall to charge $60 for it
would much rather play luigi's mansion on the switch... i dont understand nintendos obsession with porting home console games to the not-home console
It'd be more understandable if portability wasn't the switch's big gimmick. Like, 'hey now you can play this home console game on the go!', but then we'd be able to do that on switch as well.
I honestly don’t really mind that Luigi’s Mansion 1 is coming to the 3DS and not the Switch. Mainly because, with just how nonchalantly they announced both it and the Bowser’s Inside Story remake, plus those games & Persona Q2 being released this late into the system’s life, it really feels like developers are just going through and finishing up their backlog of games they wanted to make on the 3DS before switching full-speed to developing for the Switch. And why not? The 3DS still has a much larger install base, so releasing these games on that console isn’t going to lose them anything. Would it have been great for those games to come out on the Switch? Yeah, sure. But the fact that they’re not isn’t that big of a deal IMO.

I got myself a 2DS XL recently and I'm looking to get more games on it. Been thinking of getting Monster Hunter games, for example, but so far I only found pre-owned copies for like £25-30. Does anyone know a website or store in London where I can get them cheaper than that? Also for example Shovel Knight is like £25, I'd pay £10 max for it.
WarioWare should've been a warning sign. Despite it being a well liked Nintendo franchise, it sold poorly on the 3DS.
I recently bought WarioWare Gold and it's pretty good so far. One of the gripes I have with it though from what I've seen are the mini-games. Some of them kind of seem boring and honestly I wish they brought back the others like the spinkicking Wario game from Twisted (which is an actual microgame in the game mind you), the Hockey Games, or the one where you launch endless mini-Warios at fruits. Wish there was more variety like that .

Dark Souls Remastered release date: October 19 In case if someone doesn't know.
Are you guys serious about the Luigi's Mansion thing? Learn a little about the game's development; it makes perfect sense why they'd do this. 3DS wasn't Nintendo's first system since Virtual Boy to retry 3D. The GameCube was originally supposed to have stereoscopic display capabilities. During development, it even contained specialized graphics hardware geared towards rendering binocular views of the same scene; remnants of that hardware actually still exist in the release-model system, albeit permanently disabled. The game they developed to show this off? Luigi's Mansion. It's literally why the entire game is rendered with that "diorama" camera angle for every room, to show off the sense of depth. Of course, when the 3D aspect of the system was cut, the game - and every other GameCube game - would only end up being playable in 2D, even though its entire visual presentation remained as an artifact of that development period. Flash forward about ten years when the 3DS becomes a thing (they'd tried once more shortly after the GameCube with the GBA SP - with plans for certain GBA games to be 3D-enhanced - but the LCD tech was nowhere near 3DS level yet) and they figured why not resurrect the original concept with a sequel to Luigi's Mansion to show off the 3DS's stereoscopic hardware? Hence, we got Dark Moon, fully playable in 3D. But the original still never got that opportunity, and now that the 3DS's life is wrapping up, I'm 99% sure they thought, "Well, we need a final bit of support for the 3DS and we still have the Dark Moon assets and engine lying around, so while we still have the chance, why don't we port over the first game so people can play it in 3D like it was originally intended?" I mean, it's pretty obvious why it's going to 3DS over Switch. Yeah, Switch is more powerful, but it's still not 3D. And I don't care how much of a gimmick you think 3D is, it's a major component of why Luigi's Mansion even exists.

Ah, the EA school of thought. "Better hide this limited supply of physical copies in the corner and not bother to tell anyone."

How do you guys feel about Mario Party gameplay shown so far? The mini games look awesome, visually it looks fantastic, but I feel as though they still sort of missed what made the board gameplay so fun. I’m glad they’re back to the original set up but the Map they showed looks so small and less exciting. I thought it was strange that a player was able to get a star on his second turn. 10 coins is way too low for a star, feels too easy to get em. Other than that I’m pretty excited to play it, as long as the mini games are awesome.
It doesn't look that good. It looks like a step in the right direction but that's about it. NDCube has always made really good minigames (outside of the "boss" ones) so I'm not shocked that they continue to look alright but the board design just looks awful. I made a big effort post about it before but I think it's a game that's on a dangerous line. NDCube is finally listening to fans and is slowly walking back the car and grid tragedy and I want to praise them and support them to show that it's what people want- just work on board layout. But on the other hand I don't really want to support it because of all the NDCube trappings (useless to broken items, broken coin economy, star numbers randomized and more) still being around to destroy what could of been a Alright game.
You're gonna feel really dumb when they announce Luigi's Mansion remake doesn't support stereoscopic 3d like some of their recent titles
And with how hard they have been pushing the 2DS and releasing a new 2DS special edition every other week. It's obvious that Nintendo doesn't care about 3D anymore at this point.

It's already confirmed to support 3D, I believe.
And here I thought you were contained in the Smash thread. Must be a breach.
Literally my first time seeing the box. Still if you think for a second that it was more than a cheap asset flip as opposed to "playing as originally intended" you're wrong.
Why can't it be both?
