I'm kinda still mad about them stopping content for ARMS at the beginning of this year and they're still going to charge to access it's online content.
I can fucking guarantee they're not going to touch Splatoon 2's netcode, because increasing tickrate isn't just upping a switch, they'd have to rework a ton of shit to make it an acceptable tickrate
Well, they did support it with free content for a year.
https://www.pdp.com/blog/?p=855 Another set of Gamecube controllers, this time with two different C stick styles that are replaceable and in pastel colors with huge logos.
Hopefully a wireless version will come out at some point
Is every 3rd party GC controller gonna have those giant logos on them? I wish they just had a plain controller.
The pdp and Hori ones both have Pikachu Yellow, Mario Red and Zelda Blue. I'm sensing a pattern here.
smash ultimate will only have three characters and we've been lied to
Go Vacation on Switch is out, and still fun for the whole family. My siblings and I were at it for 4 hours straight of just straight goofing off(And absolutely wiping out on the tallest slope in Snow Resort, and seeing who survives the the river rapids on the Mountain Resort). I can confirm there is no online multiplayer, which is kind of annoying, but I guess maybe they never got it working? Local is where it's at, though. I played with the Pro, and both sibs on the default red/blue single joycons. This mode forces everyone to use motion controls, however, but we're used to it from the Wii version, still had a blast. The animals added to the world are cool, as is the picture mode that can be activated by left clicking(the game only mentions it in passing during a loading tooltip). We even raced to hunt down the hidden chests, including a hilarious yet-devolved-into-a-local-slug-match situation where we platformed around the castle in the 4th resort, knocking each other off by mistake. Tennis was fun too, very Mario-like, complete with burning shots, lobs, ect. Lots of punching each other IRL. It's just as fun as I remember, and the absence of a few Motion plus games does suck a little, but there's no way they would have worked on Switch anyway. If you have friends and family who like getting together to hang out, get this game for sure. The open world alone should keep anyone entertained long enough, like it did us.
Is online for Smash really that necessary as people are making it sound? Online on brawl was unplayable, Online for Smash 4 was slightly tolerable. And not much improvements have been made since Smash 4. So I don't think online for Smash Ultimate is gonna be an online seller.
uh yes its absolutely necessary. its a fighting game in 2018
But is it going to enjoyable and playable is the question. Not worth paying the $20 to play a lag fest in smash all the time.

https://youtu.be/DPFtcjAP7rw So it turns out my hunch was correct, and the remade K64 levels are indeed within Adeline's Guest Star Allies playthrough. Still really nostalgic to see them recreated like that, though Also, the arena of the final battle of GSA changed again like with the last characters- the flowers and spikes are now glowing, while the energy circle in the middle is now showing the background of 02's boss from K64. I got it as Daroach so it seems it applies to all characters, but that's still amazing.
16 hours into Octopath, I finally realized how to get subjobs and have been roaming around for the rest of them. Frigging love this game. I started as Olberic because I got used to him in the demo and then zigzagged to Cyrus and Tressa and proceeded clockwise around the rest of the world map for the others, the way different characters need to go to different parts of the map to progress and how everything's connected is really appealing to me.
https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/92hsuf/japanese_karaoke_app_joysound_is_free_to_use/ I downloaded it to test it and it works, during 10am-8pm saturday japan time you can plug a usb mic to the switch and sing some bangers for free
does it have gangnam style
Yes And it also has something even better https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/132890/b5a0ed1e-1406-4855-ad2d-179446da1f50/image.png A japanese cover of Despacito
So I got the Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1&2 for Switch. And my thumbs are not appreciating the joycons for this kind of platformer action, ow.
I wonder if they'll patch Octopath's end game cause boy is it truly awful. The grind for getting all your characters properly leveled is un-fucking-real and can take 4-6 hours of just boring mindless gameplay, then you have a boss rush with 8 fights in it that aren't too hard but still take up a good 7-10 minutes to clear followed by the hardest JRPG boss I've ever seen in a game. Oh and if you die to it you have to do all 8 fights again as there's no saving after the rush. It's so absurd in how bad it is that I can't believe it got greenlit :/
does it even make sense to buy a 3ds anymore? i was always wanting one, but now that i have my switch and the 3ds feels like it's reaching end of life, it just seems like it would be a waste of money
If it means anything, homebrew development has really matured and it's pretty effortless to set it up even on the newest version of the newest model 3DS. So you could have a portable emulation machine, among other things.
The games aren't going anywhere, so there's not hurry to buy into the system, but you can get 3DS' for fairly reasonable prices. Not to mention that, even with the advent of the Switch, the 3DS still has a very sizable library of great games well worth the investment. Even with myself owning a Switch, I have been contemplating getting another 3DS as my Monster Hunter N3DS' shoulder buttons are dying. It's still a worthwhile handheld.
There's also the cheaper option of going for the New 2DS, seeing as the 3D gimmick dropped off more and more in importance for a lot of devs.
i know there's the nerds that complain about the TN vs. IPS panel on the 3DS, but does it really matter?
Maybe when the online was first announced, but we're this close to release and we still haven't so much as a whisper of Nintendo going back to improve their servers - it's not jumping to conclusions anymore, it's making the rather sensible assumption that a product won't work better than advertised.
Also it's way, way more than the servers needing to be fixed. Splatoon 2's netcode is fucked horribly
the 3ds has one of the best Nintendo game libraries available. They sell used on ebay pre-loaded with games for around $150. I have had a 3DS XL for a long time, but have thought about upgrading to the New model to get the improved 3D stability. I'd say definitely get one, there's a lot of exclusives that won't make it over to the Switch ever, and the games are really affordable.
