I mean I don't hate it.
I mean considering who posted it you're right on the money.
I love the parts in Super Mario Odyssey where Mario is put on a 2D plane and is represented by his old sprite from Super Mario Bros.
It's as if Classic Mario is the exact same entity as Modern Mario and trying to split them is a fucking stupid idea
The best part is that they have a 2d version of it outfit also, Nintendo always have a great attention to detail.
We're getting announcements that would have been revealed on the Direct now with Final Fantasy and Civilization, hope they can still keep some first-party surprises.
if the direct is delayed until next thursday the whole thing is going to leak
i feel it's going to be cancelled and the trailers are just going to be uploaded, with the direct going up on another day
Gandhi for Smash?
I'm sitting here with my Switch, which is really just a Breath of the Wild & Odyssey machine, looking at all these games announcing Switch releases, and all these indies Nintendo is sheperding in. And even though I don't see myself getting them anytime soon, or even ever owning more than ~5 games for it, it's comforting to know that the system is so popular and is getting so many games. It's kind of like buyer's confirmation, being able to think, "i made a good choice."
What do you mean by trying to split them? Do you mean like Nintendo making 2D Mario's and 3D Mario's separate and never merging the gameplay together?
tbh I played this for a bit on the phone and it's actually okay.
Maybe I'm wrong but I think he was referring to how SEGA recently did something exactly like that saying that Modern Sonic and Classic Sonic would be basically different franchises in the future
I'm here to bring some more bad news about the online situation. Guess not all games are getting it, even first party games.
Games that will NOT have have cloud support
Dark Souls
Pokémon
Splatoon 2
Still browsing through the big games, will post more if I find them.
ok this is getting ridiculous. So while Windows is recognizing the fact that I have my Pro Controller plugged in - Steam is saying there are NO controllers plugged in at all. Only when I use something like BetterJoyforCemu does it register, but as a virtual 360 pad. On my brother's computer Steam and Windows BOTH recognized my controller no problem, I don't know what the fuck is up and nothing is of help, and the r/nintendoswitch subreddit hasn't been helpful either.
God I love this. Adding a highly requested feature behind a pay wall. And then adding restrictions to what games allow it. This is getting really ridiculous Nintendo.
If nintendo wants us to mod their system they should just say, because it feels to me this is just them asking people to hack the switch.
This is from this morning. Supposedly.
All existing games will default to “enabled”. I specifically asked Nintendo about that and had that response. If a dev/pub wants an existing game to not support it, they have to ask. When submitting a game, you are encouraged to enable cloud save. You have to have a good reason to not support it.
Reasons to not support it are generally based around preventing a user abusing it to cheat in your game. I can’t think of anything beyond Animal Crossing being too concerned about players rewinding their saves, but some games that give a random weapon drop, for example, might want to also prevent rewinding.
Seems that the choice comes from other devs mostly and not by Nintendo.
Yeeeeah. In the given list there doesn't seem much of a problem with not enabling it for certain games.
Unsure about the sports games, but I know the rest have a very good reason you shouldn't be able to have a backup.
Feel free to keep firing at Nintendo for decisions that don't go with your visions, but at least don't do it until
you have all the pieces together. Makes for a small target when you shoot so fast.
In the case of Pokemon and Splatoon it's probably due to manipulating save data online, so for those games it makes sense.
It's a cloud save service. It should work for every fucking game. No other service does that. Steam does it for every single game for FREE
Why the fuck does Pokemon not have cloud support? Aside from Animal Crossing, it's arguably the most reliant on individual saves out of any other Nintendo game; if you lose your Pokemon save, you're never gonna get it back exactly the way it was. If I lost my Odyssey file tomorrow, oh well. I can play through the game again, I can beat Darkest Side again, I can buy the Sunshine shirt and Cowboy hat again, no biggie. There's no fucking Mystery Gift in Mario Odyssey or Snipperclips or whatever. If I tossed my copy of Moon down a storm drain, I'd lose hundreds of hours of content that I wouldn't be able to recover on my own. Shit that was released once as part of an event that I have no receipt for. It's not like DLC where the store has a record of you buying it, so you can just re-download it whenever you want. I get that they don't want people to save-scum or whatever for the spirit of the game, but denying Pokemon things like cloud saves and multiple save slots is denying the fans a massive quality of life improvement for literally no good reason.
That's fucking stupid.
That's why they want you to pay a separate yearly fee for Pokemon Bank
Pokemon doesn't have cloud saves because it could be used for cloning (rollback to a time before you traded a Shiny Mew, now there's two of them), it's as simple as that. This was why the 3DS Pokemon games didn't let you backup saves either (same with Animal Crossing New Leaf). I get that it's stupid but that's Game Freak.
What seems stupider to me is not allowing backups for Splatoon 2. At the very least it should tie your items and single-player progress to your Nintendo Account.
Splatoon 2 has no online saves for a really stupid fuckin reason- your stats, gear, money, EVERYTHING is tied to an offline save. The wii u had the same problem. If you lose your switch or save data, you're fucked. Back to level 1, lose all your gear and weapons, lose all your singleplayer progression.
Funny enough, it's also the reason people could cheat in splatoon in the first place, because they can edit the save file...
Looks like the Switch is getting Space Harrier:

Honestly Game Freak is this weird fucking backwards company and always has been.
