what if they never show the direct and all the announcements that would be in it just slowly leak out
i don't want to imagine
The new direct is looking to be a Smash only direct with everything else already being announced because of the delay
Was able to get a x100 JP on a boss fight in Octopath. Wished it was EXP but it's pretty nice getting 60.000 job points for my 4 characters at once.
Nothing on the Splatoon front either. So there's that I guess.
I just can't take it any more. I fully understand why they postponed it and feel for those effected, but the prospect of a new Direct has left my hype levels on high ever since they announced it. It's like hype blueballs, I need relief but Nintendo just won't give it to me.
I'm mostly fine waiting for the general news, but the fact that we almost certainly missed out on a Smash announcement is making me go hype-stir-crazy.
god damn when I finally get a Switch I'm gonna be at least £500+ in the hole from all the fucking games I want
I wanna go back to the wiiu where there would be 1, maybe 2 games a year I wanted
...or in some people's cases, 1, maybe 2 games they wanted period.
Enter the Gungeon is an absolute bop on switch
all these companies just dumping their own reveals after the Direct got delayed kinda showcases how pointless directs and the delay are
now nintendo has to edit out everything that already got revealed, maybe edit new stuff in if they want to make up for the time difference and generally drag out what was meant to be 35 minutes of footage announced a day in advance to maybe 30 minutes of footage shown a week or more after it was first mentioned. this is probably in addition to shit like "woah guys XB2 DLC comes out this weekend, here's a quick 5 minute overview of the lore and worldbuilding"
Delays yes. Directs not.
"getting a slow trickle of information over the course of several weeks really shows me how pointless getting all of it at once is"
I perfer Directs over waiting for the few scattered trade shows they go to, then getting the info relayed by a bunch of journalists. The Direct format is the way of the future, and I'm amazed other companies don't copy it relentlessly.
If that was actually somehow an option I would be so goddamn impressed and buy it on principle
Directs are basically visual magazines.
I much prefer the Direct format over any conferences because they often go straight to the point.
Also if anyone noticed the trailer music was made by Hideki Naganuma
You know, the guy who did Jet Set Radio's OST
That's how you turn my hype dial from 10 to 11.

Just a reminder that NintendoLife knew about the direct before it was announced before the rescheduling as well.
It's been assumed to be the 13th for a bit because of the splatoon 2 stuff iirc, just a shame it didn't come out earlier I suppose.
It makes sense in 13th because that's when they upadte the eShop with releases and stuff, but I do wished it was earlier.
When is the Smash Direct today?
If it actually ends up being on Thursday that just manes nintendo knew this whole time and decided to be silent for no reason.
Or, Nintendo caused to earthquake to delay the direct
It's a conspiracy. Nintendo wants us to think they're actually working on games, so they plan to cause countless natural disasters and delay this supposed Direct until they have something to show.
wait wait wait
they are basing their headline on this tweet
https://twitter.com/ptrain_official/status/1039392813069131779
it says the 13 for japan
it could mean that we could get the direct as soon as tomorrow
Hmm

apparently the music is a fan remix, so might not mean anything other than Disney using a vg music playlist or something

They seem to have moved pretty firmly away from it being a series about video games, honestly. The original idea for the sequel (as I remember it) was gonna involve home consoles and the death of arcades, but then I guess they figured it'd be easier to just make the Emoji Movie but with Disney properties VV
