A US eshop code will not work for a european eshop account.
If the system in question is a Switch though, they CAN just create a US eshop account on the same system and redeem the code there, then play it from their normal French account.

The worst part is that the homogenization isn't even consistent.
Yeah sure let's just remove all variation of Toad hats and then just make one who has a hand cap that couldn't possibly fit the original hat inside anyway.
Also, arbitrarily implementing the star-clad hat on the Psycho-Kamek replacement, but removing varied color patterns from others.
Given that the game seems to have been cobbled together from previous 3DS M&L titles, this seems to have been a time saving effort rather than Miyamoto's decree. Hell, even some of the unique sprites from the game, like the robots from the goomba sidestory, are pulled directly from Bowser's Inside Story which they're conveniently remaking. Not saying I like this choice, but I don't know if it's something I'm gonna put effort into being mad at.
You may as well at least try to enjoy those sprites existing before Nintendo decides to never make anything using sprites ever again when they stop making 3DS games.
This is a bottleneck extinction event. This is proof that Miyamoto has been hunting down Toads for sport till driving them to extinction and the surviving ones have a limited gene pool variety, limiting their survivability in a changing world.
I really like the new WarioWare, but the voice acting is kind of weird. Jimmy especially sounds nothing like I expected him to, same with Crygor. I preferred the little sound effects they made a lot more.
This is the most frustrating thing to me. It's not just that they replace unique npcs with Toads, but the Toads themselves are made less unique as well.
This situation kinda reminds me of Mickey Mouse, as the franchise went on everything kinda became more safe design and story wise, with the exception of some fantastic shorts that have been releasing currently and kinda feel like a renaissance of the cartoon.
There is hope though, since Odyssey was so full of new ideas and daring additions to the art style. They just have to realize that people want that kind of imagination in the spin off games too.
Fingers crossed for Paper Mario Switch, if they are going to make it.

Went up to see my brother and his girlfriend with some of our friends and he surprised me with a new switch and the wayfarer edition of octopath. It made me feel a lot better after a summer of bad shit.

If I recall there was a interview(?) for Color Splash syaing that Nintendo said it was fun to remember which Toad said something when they look the same. Still pisses me off a. lot seeing this picture, all that creativity from the original games down the drain in the latest releases.

I really liked how the entire premise of the game is that Wario basically makes an E-sports tournament to make a lot of money. Very topical, Nintendo.
