"reeee jill u play borderlands this is clearly proof you are not working on the game!!!!!!! valve suckkkss!!!! artifact card game lol"
=/=
"I wonder what the TF Team is doing. I don't feel good not knowing what they are doing and would wish for more communication."
its okay to be salty about the lack of communication and ill personally join the salt circle if we go out of august with entirely empty pockets but accusing a developer we know is active in the community of being lazy and doing nothing is pretty fucking childish
Also the whole "I don't wanna sound like a crybaby but it sounds like you saying that what I said is stupid means you wouldn't give a shit if they just gave up on the game" thing is pretty counter-productive. I too can understand being annoyed by the radio silence since we just came hot off the heels of a huge update, and the only thing close to a hint we have of a future update is vague wording from almost a year ago, but TF2 isn't dead or dying, and we're starting to enter prime update territory with the halloween and christmas events coming soon. If we don't get anything notable into the beginning of next year, then maybe the whole "valve gave up on TF2" thing will be justified, but it's only been 5 months since our last update and summer update droughts are common.
Stop acting like TF2's age means anything. It's a live service F2P game, the rules are entirely different.
The TF2 Comic Issue 6 came out 11 Jan 2017, I wonder if we'll get any news on it this year now that Jay Pinkerton is back at Valve. Maybe he is working on Artifact full time?
Don't imply that its age means nothing - if it didn't mean anything, we'd have the same amount of devs in TF2 team, same amount of support throughout all of those years, but clearly this isn't the case; the developers can get fatigued by working on the same title for 11 years, and since they have a choice, they work on something else
Give me an example of a "live-service game", whose support didn't stagnate in it's latter years, but stayed consistent when compared to previous ones; although different rules will also apply to that game too, because they probably don't allow their workers to just switch to work on a different title
It still bends to the realities of video games, live service f2p or not.
I would like to take this moment to commemorate the fact that this prediction I've made roughly 1 year and 10 months ago is more likely to be true than ever:
There's about 2 major updates per year now, which are the only updates where they ever do any real balance changes.
There's maybe two other updates with community cosmetic items. It is slowing down indeed.
Honestly, I think after the second Heavy update and the final comic comes out (roughly 2.5 years from now I'd say, optimistically speaking) they're going to call it quits in regards to any more content.
There'll still be bugfixes but not much more.
Don't worry man. Harry says we should let TF Team do whatever they want. So let them.

Jill just needs to play the Valve system and blackmail people to work on TF2.
I don't know if TF2 is going to be not supported anymore soon, because it would be really dumb to try and make it more competitive and then just stop doing that.
League of Legends is only two years TF2's junior.
League of Legends was also the top PC game in the world for around 4 years and is only falling off because of multiple issues related to development, such as the company's toxic sexual harassment culture coming to light. They make billions every year from the game.
I find it strange that some people are saying TF2's support is going to die soon. We literally got our first spring, (pretty much) major update in years. The hacker situation much improved. We haven't even passed summer yet.
While I agree that no communication and no hints for the next update is strange and worrying, there's still no big drought as one in 2017 was, though we had probably the most communication about an upcoming update in that year, and we got "spoiled" from that. By that I mean we now find the classic TF Team silence about an upcoming update worrying, but it will all be fine if they release the update soon. I will join the pile of salt if there's no Updates or at least info in the following month or two.
people saying tf2 support is gonna die are fucking delusional as this isnt even the longest wait
You guys will look for any excuse to absolve Valve of wrongdoing. As long as TF2 makes more money than most AAA games, it deserves updates and support. It does not matter that TF2 isn't Fortnite.
Honestly all I want is a que system for workshop maps and maybe similar for custom modes.
I was literally only explaining why League is still so consistently updated when it's almost as old as TF2. Jesus man, get over yourself, I want an update soon just as much as anybody else here.
That's why they still support KF so regularly. Because they released a new game.
Also, comparing KF to TF2 is like comparing Pizza to Cake. They're two completely different games with two completely different origins. They only begin to look the same when you strip them down to their bare essentials.
does tripwire have another game that makes them 10-50 times the amount that killing floor does? let alone multiple of them?
And I explained why that doesn't really mean anything relative to what we're discussing. If it isn't Riot Games, it's Tripwire; there are plenty of examples of games or game series continuing to see consistent developer support, and it doesn't matter how much money the games make, as long as they're profitable for their parent companies.
I don't understand how pointing out that Valve's work culture and normal work culture is somehow "excusing" Valve; It's quite obvious that Valve's culture is worse, because team sizes aren't always stable, features get added and left out (because a guy working on say like, replay system adds the shit, then leaves to work on whatever and doesnt care anymore), updates are irregular as a result of that, and content wise they can suck ass
Compare it to normal work culture, where team sizes are stable, every goal is probably clearly set out (and then finished), and all features are supported, because the very same people stay and work there for most part, it's obvious that Valve sucks ass here; but we can't get to comparing the quality of support in different games to Valve games without mentioning this fact
The people deriding Valve are very cognizant of this fact, and that in itself is a major point of contention.
It kinda seems that the only reason why Valve's work culture is the way it is, is because 75% of all games are bought through Steam. So they either do: 1. Nothing 2. Whatever they want 3. Support TF2, CS:GO and Dota 2, just enough to not have people bother them all the time. So it kinda does seem like the only way to get more TF2 stuff, is to just complain.

Valve doesn't care about people complaining, and they aren't working on TF2 begrudgingly to avoid complaints. In fact everything we've heard from valve employees says that the people working on TF2 do so at the risk of their own job security because the higher ups don't want people working on low priority projects. Valve as a whole has some big issues that hamper the TF team's ability to do its job, but if you think the TF team themselves, the people who are risking their own jobs when they have every opportunity to switch to other projects, don't care about TF2, then you have no clue what you're talking about. Everything we've heard from people visiting valve and former employees speaking about the company indicates that the TF team itself is very passionate about the game, and the problem lies with the larger company as a whole.
its a shame at what seemed to be a game dev utopia was actually office politics hell
according to one guy who shits on your average hierarchical company structure just as hard
I found this at a store yesterday and instantly bought it. I love that I found it. Wish I also got the RED one though.
