TF2 General Chat and Speculation Station V9 - Sad Heavy Hours? Who Up?

I know it's not in topic, but fuck it.
Your present imigrants policy is fucking garbage, and will bring nothing good to you.
And it's hypocritycal that at the same time you're talking about excluding certain people from the pro community for being jerks, which is not a bad thing, but it contradicts with all-inclusive attitude that most of you here follow.
No 🅱olitics here please, go away with that shit to Polidicks
I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't working on TF2 anymore and only plays it casually or is the single man behind the mode we know as Mannpower.
Think we'll be seeing a new Heavy update this year?
yes
Knob off, you tosspot.
What.
oh well I played ut99 the other day and the bots said rude things to me
characters interacting with each other using mean words is not toxicity. they are not shit talking you(the player) but the character you're using to interact.
if anyone would ever use that as an argument might as well be careful to not end becoming Kenneth Lamar Noid
I think we can cross that stupid joke off the list.
uhh same as tf2 content. "purposeful toxicity" via game design is not a thing. Taunts are a core thing in shooters since before most of us were born.
A thought occurs; what could Valve give Heavy that would mix up his playstyle the same way the Jetpack did for the Pyro? Because I've been using Phlog/Jetpack lately and holy fuck is it fun to zip behind enemy lines, cook 'em all, zip out, heal, zip back in, and get 'em with the MMMPH.
I know I've said before I'd like if he had some sort of Banner or AOE buff that incentivizes building pushes around the Heavy (seeing the insane damage numbers I end up racking up when I play aggressively), but what does everyone else think? Is there literally any chance at all of them actually doing the "trade in Minigun for a passive buff and be a shotgun man" thing?
no because giving up miniguns is goddamn horrible and a waste of slot outside of very low level areas.
the best scenario will be him getting a projectile primary or a primary that doesn't need rev up.
Ah, apologies. I actually did read this one back when it came out, but didn't remember that tidbit or anything related to coming down on more entry-level banter as others here kept implying.
Also, I'm very sorry to hear about...all of that, Christ. If you see this, remember to stay fed and hydrated and stuff, that you aren't at fault for anything that happened, and you have every right to speak out.
Projectiles would definitely be pretty interesting, though I've always wanted to see the Deflector make it over from MVM. Naturally you'd need to nerf it pretty hard, given how it can just shoot rockets out of the sky, but it's still something I'd love to play around with. Heavy is one of the few classes where I struggle to actually make 4 distinct loadouts; all I've got right now is Stock (Iron Curtain/Sandvich/Fists), Roamer (Tomislav/Banana/Mittens), and Cart Pusher (Heater/Family Business/KGB). I tried messing around with the Brass Beast on the fourth one but it's just too shit, it's like an all-you-can-eat buffet for Spies
Regardless of the weapons he gets, I want them to take another crack at the Brass Beast, since I can distinctly remember liking that weapon once upon a time. And a Dalakohs buff would be pretty slick as well.
I can see Heavy using something like the Incinerator from Fallout but I don't think it'd change the way he is playedby a lot.
Heavy could use a primary that isn't the minigun if it actually gave his shotguns some use. It probably wouldn't ever see competitive play (not that normal Heavy sees much comp play anyways), and needs to be very distinct in its goal towards broadening Heavy's playstyle choices, but it could happen. The Super Nailgun from Quake, that one Chainsaw primary that's been on the workshop forever, maybe some type of railgun (would be hard to balance it and not make Heavy just a slow tanky Sniper), a Riot Shield Reinhardt-esque primary that supports having him lead the charge through chokepoints, or actual cannons are all very real and potentially fun ideas.
harpoon gun
a slow, single shot, one-target-at-a-time is the last thing heavy needs.
It seems to work pretty well as an ability for Roadhog.
It didn't. Roadhog was the first significant Hero rework because he was so prevalent in all levels of play due to his high damage and strong playmaking abilities (his damage was significantly nerfed, his mag size was buffed, and his heal was slightly reworked). Now he does barely any damage and is more a tank than an actual Hero of his own design. Old Roadhog was fun, but he was unbalanced.
Also, the Overwatch balance is the last balance team I'd take queues from for any game. They're the geniuses behind reworking D.va 3 times, Reworking Mercy and making her a 100% pick/ban character in every elo for 3+ months before finally nerfing her, and not touching Soldier 76 or Pharah (except for nerfing S76's damage by 1 per bullet) despite them seeing almost 100% p/b rate together since the game's release.
Said ability is also meant to pull someone out of cover/area ala Pudge from Dota. I don't think anyone wants to see that in TF2 - people complain enough about airblast.
not all harpoon guns are slow
a huntsman on crack is still not relevant for heavy. call it what you want
how about suplex as a primary that buffs his speed + switch speed allowing him to create the boxer heavy subclass where getting a hit with the KGB allows for a critical suplex
just give heavy a big pistol
like scale up the scout/engineer's pistol by 30 and there you go big funny gun
just delete Heavy. Problem solved.
the natural change over the years is trade rapid fire weapons for burst damage ones.
A weapon with a slow rate of fire but with pinpoint accuracy is what has proven to be the best(or least worse) way to tackle tf2 over the years in terms of sidegrades - the last example being the DF. In heavy's case, switching his current high hp all-defense playstyle towards a high hp all-offense miiiight be the way to go - by means either with the aforementioned switch from high DPS to high DPH weapon while giving it a buff to his mobility - kinda like giving him an M60 and see how it rolls.
There's a special place in Hell for people like you.
fine, here is an actual suggestion
basically rip Orisa's gun from Overwatch and stick it to heavy. It's pretty fun
I guess we won't be seeing you for a long time.
Weird projectileish bullet hell physics?
