TF2 General Chat and Speculation Station V9 - Sad Heavy Hours? Who Up?

Not really. Just a Minigun that shoots projectiles - harder/different to aim with, but the reward could be more damage.
So...
the Super Nailgun?
yeah, weezer fans get the worst treatment
real talk i do think we'll most likely see something unique for new primary heavy weapons, but i just want a new shotgun for once (even though i mainly run sandvich)
I'm imagining something with the firerate of the Tomislav and the thick, meaty "TWHOCK" sounds of the Huntsman and even if it turns out to be shit I think I'd have to use it for that reason alone.
Give Heavy the BFG.
Robot Agent, I have one piece of advice for you: upon finding oneself in a hole, stop digging.
The really sad thing about the goldrush author (other than his idea of what the last point on a payload map should be) is that at this point his antics are the only sign we have of any Valve employee paying attention to TF2.
So, em. About toxicity "in the game" and not outside of it
Should Valve "backport" the way they deal with it in Dota 2 into TF2? (Low priority and etc.)
If any of you guys haven't before, I highly recommend trying Quake Champions to get an idea of how good the Quake weapons feel in a competitive FPS. Right now my big inspirations for weapon ideas are the two nailguns (the basic nailgun is exactly what the Syringe gun should feel like, and the Super Nailgun would be a perfect primary) and the rocket launcher (classic Quake RL). I really think almost every weapon in that game could work really well in a TF2 setting, aside from maybe the Big Rifle and the Railgun.
it's been said time and again but imagine just having a punt gun as heavy's primary

Once you fire this baby, you will vaporize whoever's on the wrong end of the barrel, the building behind that person and your shoulder.
Having a hard time understanding, but not relevant how? I could totally see a weapon like that working for heavy if given the right design visually. I.E; big railroad spike gun that fires every half second or longer that deals a lot of damage but with a projectile speed slightly slower than the rocket launcher. Could be heavy's grandfather's railspike tool or something like that. Old family relic that heavy found on a trip back to his home. (Then again, I'm more describing a super nailgun rather than a huntsman on crack at this point)
And if you mean gameplay design wise, I feel like demoknight is a good reason on why that doesn't matter if it fits the class. It's so out of place in comparison to what demoman is as a class and it's still a great addition to the game.
Does Watergate still crash for anyone? Because it crashes for me for some stupid reason.
IF we're going to give any type of projectile based automatic gun from any game I'd rather see the Plasma Rifle from Doom be given to heavy over Orisa's lol...

God I can't wait till Doom Eternal comes out...
Super Nailgun would have to be Medic's... Since that's what his primaries originally were heh...
The thing about the Minigun is that it's kinda already the perfect compliment to how Heavy moves. It's arguably the only weapon in the game where it actually pays to use it to lay down suppressing fire, not only because you don't need to reload, but because it's got enough spread and damage to pick off even distant targets if they choose to ignore it in the same way someone might ignore an Engie blindly firing his pistol down a choke.
With the Minigun, the question is never really whether or not you'll be able to hit your target, so playing Heavy effectively relies moreso on positioning than actual aiming. You can be a crack-shot, but that won't help you if you've overextended or let a Scout get the drop on you. The fact that Heavy doesn't need to worry about aiming as much as other classes (especially bulkier power classes like Soldier and Demo) helps make his existence as a big slow target more manageable.
So ideally you'd want a weapon that plays differently without shaking up that balance. For an example of a solid side-grade, you have the Tomislav, which has a more focused spread, so you'll need to aim more carefully, but it also has a much quicker spin-up, so you can afford to take your time a bit more than you would with Stock. Then you have the Heater, which isn't good enough to be called a straight side-grade, but certainly isn't bad, just situational. And then at the bottom of the stack you have Natascha and the Brass Beast, which exasperate Heavy's existing weaknesses for minimal rewards that he doesn't even necessarily need in the first place (an easier time aiming/more damage).
If you want something like a harpoon gun that would decrease Heavy's rate of fire (essentially making the whole "use gun to put bullets inside bad guys" process slower), you'd need to balance it out with something like a speed boost or flat-out removal of the spin-up mechanic. Otherwise you're just gonna get another Heavy primary that's all but entirely useless unless he's either pushing a cart or getting pocketed.
Giving Heavy a bigass harpoon/railgun that fires out Huntsman-style projectiles slightly slower than the stock Rocket Launcher (but which doesn't have to be spun-up, allowing him to maneuver about at full walking speed) sounds like something that would be an absolute blast to use.
to be an efficient class heavy needs to be able to spread his firepower onto any number of encounters in a single rev up. If you give him a gun that needs to reload between each shot (which implies it can also miss) then you might aswell go shotgun heavy and get slaughtered the same way. The post I replied to was about a harpoon gun, nothing about nails.
Ah, yeah. Was arguing the wrong argument then. With that, you'd be right. Heavy would just be a tankier huntsman sniper which makes him useless and not fun to play against.
I haven't tried it on my new computer but I don't think they fixed the glitch that causes the memory leak and crashes the game once it hits 4GB of memory used (open your console, it will probably be filled with with errors related to a sound file).
New era of TF2.
>Play Sniper
>Get banned
I would love Heavy to use heavy weapons that no other class could even lift. Maybe something between goofy and threatening. Could it be a cannon that fires a giant iron ball, or a ball made of bullets?
One thing I think we all can agree upon is the lack of Heavy and Medic voicelines. They could write something pretty cool, witty and memorable to at least ease the impact if the update ends being a complete shitfest.
Super Nailgun (at least in Quake Champions) does ~20 damage per nail, and the regular nailgun does about 10 and is one of the three stock weapons. IMO I'd give the regular nailgun's aspects to the Med's syringe guns, and give Heavy the Super Nailgun.
To be fair in that clip where Dario bans the guy he was acting like a hacker, spinning around after shots. Dario had good intentions unlike the time he was sorta being an asshole to the people pubstomping in Mannpower and telling them to switch teams when it wasn't even possible.
I'd still prefer the medic get the super nailgun as it was his original gun ( he didn't even share it with sniper or scout, who in tern got the normal nail guns ) in the previous titles. It's essentially the medic's version of the "Original".
if that's the case, this will probably fix your problem

Some Spy-main raged on my steam profile for the first time in ages, just because I told him that de-cloak is really fucking easy to hear when he de-cloaked behind me to try and get rid of his domination.
this is what the president must feel like all the time!
Yeah, but how about actually taking your time and effort to figure out if the guy is actually cheating or not.
if you're pretending to be a cheater, you have no one to blame but yourself if you get kicked for it.
To be fair, I'm almost certain decloak is still (and has been) bugged for ages and occasionally for seemingly at random and for no reason plays the sound twice, making it much louder than it would normally be.
kicked=/=banned
Being kicked for doing something silly is one thing, being banned for 6 months for not cheating is just beyond ridicilous.
What? Individual players do not wield the authority to ban players from valve matchmaking or casual, only whatever community server they hold permissions on.
You can get your buddies to kick someone and then all collectively report them for cheating and hope valve’s machine learning stuff decides correctly, but that’s not how it works.
the fuck you talking about? mr casali is very much still employed
What? I had heard somewhere that he wasn’t. And... wait so this is the same dirtbag who admin abused with that whole mannpowert thing a while back....
And he’s sill employed? I know valve is terrible and the worst and everything, but god damn that’s having low employee behavior standards.
