i dont think its that hard to convert lumbermill or offblast for koth, someone might already done that
Pretty much all of the official arena maps are horrible for KotH to begin with either because the point is too far open and can be seen from spawn, the point is too closed off and the only way in may as well be a horrid narrow choke or uphill climb, and of course none of the spawnrooms are designed to be reusable so adapting them would make spawncamping way too easy. Even maps based on existing 5CP center points have isolated issues due to defender's advantage or having too few angles of approach -- of course neglecting to recognize that the reason center-point gets retaken in 5CP is because too many people wiped at 2nd and the defenders pushed back, whereas in KotH the team with the point is content to just sit on it.
now imagine someone trying to turn yukon into a koth.
I wouldn't want them directly converted but it would have been nice if they had been designed for a game mode that wasn't destined to die. Hindsight is 20/20 though, I'm sure the TF2 team would have done a lot of things differently if they could have.
I used to have a Natascha (I don't remember if it was strange or killstreak, could've been both) named "Slowdown Showdown." It was mainly reserved for countering demoknights, though.
Wouldn't LumberMill need a bit of touch-ups to make it fit for KoTH?
the fuck is lumbermill I assume lumberyard?
Yeah. I meant that .
You'll note the second part on my prized Natascha is Demomen killed. I put that gun together back when the Half Zat had random crits and gave full health on kill. This was also when the Loch n' Lol did 125 PLUS damage spread. Ugh.
Idea: The next update is the Replay Update 2, which adds replay support to all Valve Matchmaking servers and a revamp to the replay editor.
I feel like they could probably do this somewhat easily if they just made it so anyone could easily record a demo file and the demo files could be edited by the replay editor. Demo files just recreated games but record it on the client from what I understand so it wouldn't take up server resources. Maybe have it always record and after getting killed you can press a button which creates a bookmark to that life and saves the demo. Also have the option to save an entire demo after a game (along with more saving options in the advanced options). Probably not worth the development resources though.
Maybe also have them not getting curropted randomly after a few updates.
neither of those affected heavy any worse than others. Infact it didn't at all because lmao you let people get melee hits on you as heavy and the old LNL damage threshold didn't change at all for 300 hp. And natty sucked back then, was better off with stock anyway. does maining heavy automatically grant a free pass to oversized egos and entitlement? it seems to be quite the stereotype with the class.
Well that is kinda a feature. The replay menu literally tells you that that is going to happen, and it's entirely understandable.
Wat. Where did you get that idea about heavy mains, valve server potatoes? Play heavy for long enough or in a competitive environment, and you’ll realize what being only marginally more useful than pyro feels like...
Alt+tabbing has caused the invisible players bug for me since a windows update a couple of months back. It's annoying to paste "record fix;stop" in the console every time i want to look at something outside tf2.
I think you're wrong on every single point there. In reverse order: Heavy mains are so incredibly rare that it's difficult to get a sufficient sample size to determine any characteristic about them other than "long suffering." There are a couple YouTubers who main Heavy. Teal Opal seems like a nice kid. I find it difficult to sit through a Joey SlapNuts video. Does FUNKe consider himself a Heavy main? The most famous Heavy main who doesn't have a YouTube channel that I can think of is Joe Biden. He's 66 years old and once of the nicest guys in TF2. Are you sure you're not just passive aggressively complaining about Exor? Natascha absolutely did not suck back in the Loch n Lol days. Especially before the Love & War nerf. I wasn't around for the insane slow effect days, but I've been using Natascha since I unlocked the achievement weapon (Unlocked Dec 30, 2013 @ 7:25pm.) It's designed to counter Scouts and Demoknights, but it's also great against explosive jumpers, WM1 kamikazes, Widowmaker engies who want to exploit Heavy's hitbox, etc etc. There was a short, glorious period before L&W when Valve buffed Natascha to have 300 ammo. That was the same update that restored Heavy's Sandvich voice lines. Good times! The only time the Natascha sucked was after L&W but before the 2015 buff that gave Natascha and the Brass 20% damage resistance while spun up. That buff of course has now been nerfed to the point of near irrelevance. Also, Natascha was and still is the best sounding minigun. The 2 shot/125 damage Loch N Load was incredibly irritating to fight against as all other 8 classes (this was when winbombing was still a thing, too.) You are aware that Demos like to peek corners and spam out Heavies, right? The Loch's faster projectile speed still makes that easier than stock pills, never mind the damage bonus of the old Loch. The reason I don't get spammed out by the Loch as much anymore is because the Iron Bomber is a thing. Heavy has the biggest hitbox in the game and a glacial movement speed. To kill a Demo you have to get the jump on them and hope for no sticky traps. I have over 1000 hours being slow and fat, and I think Demo counters Heavy in more situations than he doesn't. The old Zat was fucking training wheels for demoknight. Random crits and a full health recharge on kill for literally no downsides. There was a truly awful period between the arrival of the Tide Turner in June of 2014 until December of 2015 when the Half Zat finally got nerfed. That combination was possibly the most annoying combination of Demo weapons to fight against. Also, your entire post makes the assumption that I built my strange Natascha to avoid getting killed by Demoknights. What generally happened was I'd be playing a class besides Heavy (often Pyro back then), be killed by a Demoknight, get annoyed, switch to class #5, equip Natascha, rid the server of at least one black Scottish cyclops. I'm sorry, your entire post is https://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/1/13/Heavy_jeers03.wav
Best gamemode for glitches you mean. While not strictly possible in standard Arena, it is possible to spawn both without a team and without a class in all Arena mode derivatives (such as VSH, Prophunt or Dodgeball) through console commands. Since Arena mode is basically abandoned, it will never be fixed either.
I wish Arena was another mode you could search for or like, Sudden Death occurred more often on other modes. I just like the whole 'no respawn' mode, makes things tense.
Yeah you got me there; my ego is sooooo big, I talk about how great I am non-stop.
I've seen countless heavy mains on sourceop throughout 11 years that fit the description. The fact that you automatically assume you're the center of attention proves my point, no?
On Not really, you're passing blanket judgment on all of us based on an anecdotal experience. I can say the same for Scout mains and Sniper mains and Soldier mains and--well everyone. There isn't a one-size-fits-all situation here.
It's now been 145 days since a blog post, the new record. Previous longest was 139 days
20th anniversary of Half-Life is coming up in November, the headline on gaming news sites: "Company silent about 20th anniversary of their first game, which was a milestone in gaming history"
i'd be silent too when i look at steam and its hundreds of shovelware, trolling, ironic, virus bait and anime titties games gabe lost his soul to money that he doesn't even need rip
He became a Dota 2 fanatic, has ten thousand hours and mains Sand King apparently.
Speaking of Gabe and Dota 2 just reminds me of that picture of him playing a Dota 2 bot match on his laptop alone at a table. I don't even recall where I saw it, I think it was something to do with his son on twitter.
Apparently he only does bot matches, even though earlier he said he plays multiplayer matches under different names, he was asked if he did it in TF2, Dota 2, and CSGO.
