That part is likely. 15 minutes on the workshop would fill up a new crate case (with a new exclusive key!) Of course 50 is more than the one dude who is in charge of the entire TF2 economy is going to commit to including, so let's call it 20. No more than 5 of them will be for Heavy. There will be one Elite Grade Heavy non-hat-equip-region "misc" that would be $25 on the SCM if it were a Scout or Soldier cosmetic, but since it's Heavy only it doesn't bring more than $5. There will also be a new Heavy Metal War Paint Case (uses a separate, also exclusive key!) that will have a bunch of War Paints you can apply to all the same weapons since Jungle Inferno. There will be no Natascha, Backburner or Krtikrieg reskins (for reasons I have explained previously.) From both cases you'll be able to get all the unusual effects you've come to know and love (that aren't event or case restricted, or named Energy Orb.) No new unusual effects will be offered. A unusual cosmetics will be "Hat" equip region only. There will be 3 new weapons for Heavy, including a riot shield that replaces his primary. Unfortunately, it includes a permanent movement speed penalty. Heavy can "lower" the shield to give him damage resistance from the front 90º (similar to the Backburner, but in reverse.) When the shield is lowered, Heavy now moves at Brass Beast speed, and has a healing and overheal penalty. In spite of this, the competitive community will ban the weapon immediately and permanently. The second weapon for Heavy will be a new secondary. It's a comically huge Klashnikov named "Natalya" with a 25 round magazine. Pressing the fire button even once empties in the magazine with a spread pattern similar to the minigun (at normal accuracy.) Natalya has a painfully slow reload as Heavy's giant mitts fumble with banana clips. Second Banana indeed. The competitive community will ban Natalya until they have time to "investigate the balance of the weapon." The third Heavy unlock will be a new melee! It's an uprooted stop sign. It behaves much like one of Demoman's swords. It has a deploy and holster penalty, a 20% swing speed penalty, an extended range, and +20% damage. Due to a bug with the War Paint system, it won't be available in any variety except as a unique, non-tradable contract reward version. In keeping with a tradition started with Jungle Inferno, there will be a new contract weapon for another class. This time it's a new Scout primary! Poor Sout has suffered with no new unlocks in years, so Valve has made a new Scattergun called the Southie Slammer that has a 4 shot magazine, 10% slower firing speed, but pierces any damage resistance mechanics similarly to the Enforcer. Unlike the Enforcer, the anti-resistance function will work just fine at launch. The Southie will render the new Heavy shield (as well as Natascha and the Brass Beast) completely useless. Valve will address this issue well before 2022. I for one can't wait.
Well I called it, valve hates TF2 so much they forgot it’s birthday again. In the real world, this level of irresponsible parenting would see protective services come take the child away. Poor crabwalk rocketjump fortress, having to grow up with absentee parents 😞
Oh good, we're in the incessant moping stage again.
Have they ever forgot the birthday blog post? Surely birthday mode's on since it's automated, it's not in CSGO which had it's birthday mode turned on recently.
Is this not the observable reality in front of us?

By that logic, TF2 should have been the Second Coming of Christ around the time the Half-Life 2 leak happened.
Wow you sure got him! Trolled him epic style.
well metaru is pretty much right, we are in the sad moping phase now which, just like the other years, is entirely justified no communication, not even giving steve guttenberg his well deserved attention, and another summer passed without anything that even resembles an update, and all info we have is something VNN was told and for all we know it was a big jape. However Id rather not devolve to 5th graders jokes to show how much of a chad one is
Up lo lo Juan
I'm no Saint or pro or anything, but you guys are doing a good job of making the tf2punch section look just as bad, childish, and incessant as the rest of facepunch and reddit believes it to be.
I would hope so. Best case scenario would be a minor gameplay/balance patch before Halloween and a usual Halloween patch. If they decide to forgo the Halloween patch/combine it with the Heavy update (which is possible since last year set the precedent of them not always wanting to do big halloween blowouts), I wouldnnt be surprised if we get a tiny update with maybe a cosmetic crate next month and that's it.
Pretty sure they forgot to time the birthday at least twice in the last few years. I expect a post on Monday.
As far as the catbot situation goes, it appears to be a very small amount of catbots which, given valve fixed the issue ages ago, just get kicked very early and don't even get to be active in the first place. Looks like some dude wanted to be an epic cheater, made some catbots but was seemingly not informed enough that they don't really work anymore. Source: No one on reddit, steam discussions etc. is talking about this. The very few people that encountered them have reported that they just get kicked instantly.
only on medals.
Frankly, I think TF2's in a phase of its life cycle where all the old guarantees (a big summer update in June/July, Scream Fortress and Smissmass updates with major new content that isn't just a new cosmetic case) are no more, and any further major updates will drop very inconsistently and with a year-long (or more) wait between them. Not saying the game's ded and all is doom and gloom, but it's pretty clear that the current TF2 Team simply can't (for lack of manpower, energy or focus; they're quite possibly guys that also work on Valve's other titles and projects) deliver as regularly as we've come to expect from TF2 developers between 2007 and 2016. Right now, there's really not much to speculate on, as we don't even have any ''what we're up to'' blogposts and teasers to go on. I'll just keep an eye on TF2-related news and this place, but I wouldn't be that surprised if a major update doesn't even ship this year at all. Hopefully the game stays populated with players (and not just bots/cheaters) for years to come despite the much lesser influx of noteworthy content.
if you believe this place was ever taken seriously at any point, I got bad news for you.
Go watch some good comp tf2 https://www.twitch.tv/essentialstf
The last ounce of opticism in me says that the reason the TFTeam isn't communicating is because this is a very busy period for Valve. Artifact, 3 VR Games, TI8, In the Valley of Gods etc... I don't know if Valve ever had this much stuff in development at the same time, feel free to educate me on that.
[stances aside this was a good burn] I'm long past the point of batting for Valve (or any developer, really). I just don't see much point pouring what is essentially liquid whinging into the thread. Updates either happen or they don't. Who knows, maybe we've finally seen the end of updates and Valve will move on and start considering TF3 or something. I don't like the fact they stay so quiet, either. I saw a tweet thread the other day about the whole "removal of adult games" from Steam thing that was the most informative stance I've heard from Valve about it - and it was off the record from a Steam rep who was hosting an event somewhere. Valve is sorely in need of better communication as a whole - not just for TF2, but for everything under their umbrella. But they seem to refuse to improve on it, and just rely on dropping statements or the occasional defusal AMA by Gabe when a situation is publicly loud and dire.
They were obviously too busy working the International to post anything.
It seems i63 has improved weapon viewmodels; I wonder who made them.
Would you like halloween spells to come back this TF2 halloween? To be honest I'd rather have spells back than new cases with cosmetics/effects.
i would like the return of the spells in an easy to obtain manner, like maybe a spell store like the contract store during jungle inferno. I can say that roughly 2-3 years worth of play back when spells were a thing and i only ever got 1 horseman footprint spell, and i fucked up and put it on the wrong hat. And i have been wronged by Valve for preventing me from being able to rectify the fuck-up. I don't want to spend an absurd amount of keys for a glitch HHH Head with the footprints on it, plz.
https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/113126/d0dc13f5-ba80-44e6-93bb-ab1d747ec137/halloweenprocess.png I might do more of these, they're fun to make
every single year the lakeside spells have been demanded and every single year it has failed.
Let's hope the major update drops in September, cause if it drops in October like last year, we won't get any halloweeny content again.
what if that's exactly the plan
Just went thought Jill's steam screenshot library and I noticed that he mostly just took TF2 screens since the beginning of his account, but ever since 2017, he stopped. Last TF2 screen he took was on 12 Sep, 2017. Is this a red flag?
I haven't taken a screenshot of TF2 in a few months. Doesn't mean I've stopped playing, it just means I haven't seen anything screenshot worthy.
