TF2 General Chat and Speculation Station V9 - Sad Heavy Hours? Who Up?

nerf Demoknight pls
Vacc is the medigun Medics use when they've no idea on how to use the default medigun strategically.
Vacc is OP?
Vacc is similar to the QuickFix in that it's OP in a comp environment (fewer players, fewer damage types and usually just one type at a time) and a bit UP in pubs. It's not as extreme as the QF (which is OP AF in sixes and weaksauce in pubs). In a 24 or 32 man server, there's going to be too many damage types for the Vacc to be terribly effective. The Vacc's slow overheal is a massive detriment in comp, but it's quick ubers that stop explosive and bullet damage grind things to a halt. I say this as someone with nearly 800 hours as medic (with exactly zero of that in any form of competitive play) and a great lover of the Vaccinator. In skilled hands, it's the MTG Counterspell. You cast Crocket? I cast Fuck No. You cast Full Charge Campy McLongShoot? I cast Headshot Immunity. In skilled hands it's possible use the Vacc to shut down an enemy stock uber unless the pocket is really good at movement and melee timing.
Also, Demoknight has been nerfed to shit over the last few years.
Yeah, I like the Vacc as a concept (a healing gun that protects from different damage types is a neat idea in any game) and as a Sniper/Pyro counter, but I think they stuck too many gimmicks onto it with the bonus "can uber every 25% heal charge". Honestly, it's hard to balance any non-Stock/Kritz mediguns just because of how potent the stock Medigun already is. It's not like the Soldier's Rocket Launcher, or the Scout's scattergun, where it's a part of a whole that can be worked around, for all intents and purposes, it IS the Medic's contribution to the team. As easy as playing Medic can be, a good Medic and a bad Medic will have a huge difference in team contributions.
Also, I don't say anything cause it's pubs so it's whatever, but I'm so fucking sick of pub Medics that treat every wounded teammate to a Crossbow shot. Just fucking heal me with your Medigun so I can actually have full health in the next 5 seconds.
Yeah, I know, what I mean is that since cat-bots not alot of people queue the map anymore.
What do you mean, I just now took this picture. And whenever I put it on it throws me into Harvest and almost nothing else.

Anyone has submitted content to the HiGPS weapon analysis? I'm thinking about finally sending some Medic crossbow gameplay (next sunday episode). Its a fun weapon, and being judged seems like a good way to improve.
FLASH SERVER EVENT!
Join 188.165.207.20:27024 in TF2 to play the Medieval Event. Try out great medieval maps like cp_helmsdeep, cp_burghausen, pd_degroot, cp_degrootcreep, medieval Harvest, and more!
This makes no sense to me. The Crossbow offers spike healing and bypasses the crit healing mechanic entirely. If you're concerned about getting healed in a hurry, hold the fuck still for a microsecond while the medic arrows you. There is no lag compensation for friendly fire, and if you're bouncing around like a subatomic particle it's probably not the fault of the medic that 3 crossbow bolts in a row missed you. If you're doing this as a scout and bitching at the medic, fucking uninstall. (I hate friendly Scouts nearly as much as I hate enemy ones when I play med. "Doc, c'mon man!" [Runs away from me at 400 HU/s screaming "Fiyah! Fiyah! Fiyah!"])
If you're injured and actually care about pushing the objective on whatever map you're playing again hold the fuck still (preferably outside of sniper sight lines) so the medic can lock his medi beam on you and build some gabendamn uber. If you're not a complete retard and actually protect the medic you might even get to go shiny for a couple seconds.
uhh it'd trash in comp especially because of the availability of dmg sources
anti bullet? roamer and stickies up your face
anti explosive? literal 2 scouts always around
in pubs theres always a few dominant players that do the most work so it's easier to block these guys in particular. Also far more class stacking.
so, complete opposite of what you said.
That medieval halloween map was fun as heck.
You can stack resistances, and there are only two damage sources in 6v6.
50% of your ubercharge gone in 2 seconds doesn't seem much like a good idea
You should only need those two seconds to fend off an attack.
okay, guess we ought to wait for the input of a player with actual competitive experience then.
Or you can just read the statement over why it was banned on the Global Whitelist.
The Vaccinator has been a very controversial weapon across all regions. It was primarily used when there was an Über disadvantage for your team due to its high defensive capabilities. The weapon also has the capacity to force awkward team fights and removes the 6v6 fundamental of Über tracking altogether. The Vaccinator is also the only Medigun that negates forms of damage while still allowing those affected to capture control points. For these reasons, the Vaccinator is now banned.
those reasons have little to do with what you or the other guy thought made it strong, but good find.
I didn't do anything but mention weapon attributes, I didn't say anything about what made it too good in 6v6.
yep. apparently it's basically the loser's medigun when you get pushed back and have no time to charge a long stock uber. kinda fills the requirement of "crutch" when you think about it? good riddance.
Two months ago i sent him a demo for the crossbow episode at the time. My gameplay made to the video and it was super cool.
Pro tip: he really likes demos in which people focus on the objective and/or playing in the most effective way. For example, (even if your demo was focused on the crossbow) he would much rather see you use the medigun over the crossbow if your aim with it is trash. That's it, good luck.
dangitttt, i've been trying to play with a group of people in those maps for like evaaa, and i missed it. However I'm super glad to hear that people still genuinely enjoy the sillyness of medieval mode, i hope valve puts a tiny more amount of support into it. It's very fun
It's called "missing the crossbow shot". Sorry you got into a tuff because i said that.
Hope it's not too late to throw in my somewhat large list of balance changes, I'm new to this.
balancing pyro weapons
Been sitting on this for awhile, some feedback would be great =D
The Detonator is actually probably the strongest Pyro secondary in the game if properly used, especially in terms of giving Pyro mobility.
I'm not sure buffing it would be a good idea. At least not in the mobility department.
Actually, it is my go-to secondary, though I don't use its jump all too often. I feel like it costs way too much health to viably use it in a way that isn't getting to some perch or jumping right onto someone who's low. Maybe it would be op, but it would be nice to use it to get places faster
The problem with buffing the Detonator's mobility function is that the Jetpack now exists. I think the Detonator is fine right now, it offers a middle-ground between combat use/damage and utility.
If two snipers, scoped and fully charged, click on each other's head at the exact same time, who dies?
the one with the better connection, it's impossible to give an answer as latency will always be there, but this may answer your question

How about LAN?
Detonator's becoming my favorite secondary as well. Hell, I'll try to kill people just with it alone now-a-days because of the challenge in it, that I actually find really fun when I can pull it off lol.
