TF2 General Chat and Speculation Station V9 - Sad Heavy Hours? Who Up?

Yeah, it's not like we saw a good amount of Spy, Pyro, Heavy, Sniper or Engineer. Or it's not like how that Pyro literally carried the last defense that one time and the chat was losing their mind. Or when everyone clenched their collective buttons when someone goes spy.
Yub, you can totally discredit any skill shown because not all 9 classes are seeing constant use; that makes sense.
And that's why I'm glad Smash Bros. progressed beyond a 17-year-old game.
I didn't know Jigglypuff was the tenth class. Thanks for giving us the leak Exor.
man, this explains so many things.
Why can't we have 9v9 with one class each instead of having 6v6 with mostly just the same 4 classes most of the time? How boring and stupid...
1) Organising a LAN or broadcasting it is an organisational hell
2) E-sport games, at least in my view, should be fast-paced, quick and easy to read and understand what's going on
9v9 while a competitive format is just really a clusterfuck and a slow format overall - it's not that enjoyable to watch and perhaps even boring to watch, to put it rudely
I'm using CSGO as an example, because I feel like it's the best example - 10 players, easy to organise, easy to broadcast; you can easily read what's going on, and the rounds are fast and enjoyable to watch, which is a good thing; esport has to be easy and engaging to watch, and HL is just complete opposite of that
Yeah I know right, i63 was so fucking shit, boring and stupid. If you throw in 9 classes going at it against 9 classes that would make it so much more fun and better and totally not a shitfest.
I mean, that's why people like 9v9 instead of 6's twice more am I right?
If you care more about speed than entertainment then why don't we just make comp LANs be 1v1 Scout only, on a tiny insta-respawn map? Can't get any faster, more organized and easy to read than that!
No offense, but have you actually ever played competitive formats ( not official matchmaking ) ? I've played tons of 6's and Highlander, and I can see the obvious difference why Highlander should not be the choice of official format.
A bit dumb that the decider was a map that EU doesn't play. Odd that Se7en didn't ban it, really.
Also a bit disappointed that the match stretched way past 2AM, way too late for EU gamers while for yogurttech it would've been the middle of the day or whatever. Not midnight for sure.
Probably because neither of the teams expected to go to map 5. It's sad, but keep in mind that If froyo had blaze and shade, they prolly wouldn't had even needed 5 maps to win.
Shame 7 had a medic problem, things would've went more according to plan if Raymon was still playing.

Seems to me that you have zero regard for what i've said, all of which are valid points in context of competitive class-based/fps games; play 6s and HL, and tell me which one is more engaging and faster paced
6s is fast paced and engaging, thus entertaining - no need to downplay the points i've risen
Seems to me that he has absolutely no idea what he's talking about tbh.
Guess the problem is I play games for fun, not to be super l33t in them. So to me it seems more interesting seeing a 9v9 with one class each rather than a 6v6 with mostly just 2 Scouts, 2 Soldiers, 1 Demo and 1 Medic, on almost always the exact same maps. I'm more of an update guy than a tournament guy. I never cared about comp TF2 because the players were the minority, now they are becoming more and more the majority and the game feels more like a chore than a, well, fun activity.
The effort to push 6s as the be all end all of tf2 comp would have gone over a whole lot better if classes and maps were fixed so that half the cast wasn't pushed into the "use literally only on lasts holds" category in 6s. If the comp community were less obsessed about jerking off in the mess that is 5cp all day and valve weren't moving at a snail's pace when it comes to giving more options for other classes and gamemodes in comp, 6s might actually resemble Team Fortress 2 by now. The fact of the matter is even now the game and the competitive community are both far to stuck in their respective ruts for most casual or highlander players to take any interest. There's simply far less content (in terms of maps and classes) in 6s than there are in any other version of the game, which is going to turn a lot of people off.
Reading your posts reminded me why I don't come to this forum anymore. Thanks!
Ok how about this, we stop giving a crap about turning the game competitive, and we go back to Valve servers with regular updates instead.
If you don't care about the competitive side of the game then why are you arguing about this in the first place lmao
You are incredibly misinformed and obviously dont care about competitive at all. Highlander has it's crowd but as others have said its a lot less organized, a lot more messy to spectate AND play, and is basically a more competitive pub. Which is fine, really, but it's not competitive.
Perhaps it's time to start caring about comp TF2, and maybe not care enough to play it, but understand how it looks, how it plays out and such. I also play games for fun, i'm not a known or any good competitive player by any means, but 9v9 is a lot slower and 6s is just faster and more engaging, so I prefer it more than 9v9. I also don't see how comp being more pushed is somehow going to ruin your "fun" - you still have your casual mode, community servers and such, none of this is being taken away
Well alright, I guess I just focus on personal preferences, rather than on what's best for a quality comp experience. I just can't get used to a game like TF2 being competitive. It's so unusual, this game was for almost 10 years anything but that, so please try seeing things from my perspective, now that I know yours. Also, I don't care about casual or community servers, nothing can compete with Valve servers. Nothing.
>Guess the problem is I play games for fun
>I don't care about competitive
Then why are you even arguing about competitive lmao, you clearly don't understand anything about competitive at all.
The why does almost no one care about it.
Stop being childish. I've played over 6 seasons of competitive Highlander and I completely agree with everybody else, it's slow as hell, except maybe on KOTH because there's a 6 minute maximum to the game after somebody gets the first cap. The game cycle is incredibly basic and repetitive. The teams basically sit and hide and wait for uber to be up so the Medic, Demo and Heavy can push, while Snipers, Spies, or Soldiers try to make picks and Engineers, Pyros, and Scouts flank or protect their combo. It's boring.
Because Valve didn't really care about it until 2016.
12k viewers of that tournament (i63) says nothing to you?
"This game is probably one of the most competitive balanced and most satisfying to watch games out there."
It's not nothing, but considering it's "one of the most competitive balanced and most satisfying to watch games out there", I guess the numbers should be more than that. That's why I said "almost no one cares about it."
hey look is ASIC 2: Opinion Bogaloo
I don't know, maybe because It's fucking 11 years old?
You're obviously here just to troll
