we're hardly getting that, and no new item updates means the workshop community is out of a job. That concerns me, even though it might not concern you.
One major update a year is terrible, but I do agree they should at least communicate.
Oops ! My bad.
The workshop community shouldn't be looking for a job making community items for a videogame in the first place. It's like genuinely thinking you could be a youtuber and make a living. There are thousands, millions of submissions on the workshop already. You aren't working with Valve in any capacitiy - in fact, they showed a severe lack of actual attention, as proven by the Hazmat Headcase Sniper situation. They simply add your items to the game. I can understand being upset that the new crate system completely fucks over money made from the items you get added, but treating making tf2 items like anything other than a hobby is foolish. I'd imagine even people like BANG! wouldn't make enough to have a comfortable living just from TF2 item royalties, he's gotten in dozens of items at this point, and was one of the first workshop contributors.
I'm fairly certain a lot of the top contribs actually do.
I just mean relatively. Like, let's be real; if this were any other studio, TF2 would be long dead. Valve has other things they want/need to focus on and I'm willing to accept that, given the amount of content they've added over the past decade. If we still manage to get something as big as Jungle Inferno, where we get an SFM short, 6 new maps, new campaigns/contracts, five new weapons (most of which are actually fairly decent/viable), and a shit-ton of balance/gameplay changes annually, then I'll be a perfectly happy camper. Throw in the usual Halloween/Smissmas updates, a few new workshop releases, and general balancing and upkeep, and I'd say that's a totally comfortable place for TF2 to reside at this state in its life. The days of multiple full-class updates and exciting new game modes every few months is long over, and I honestly don't think we're ever gonna get to that place again. But if they can do something REALLY huge once a year, then I've got no problem with that, so long as everything is more or less functional (and is fixed in a timely manner if it isn't).
man some people have such fragile egos in this game i watched as my team's demoman couldn't kill a single sniper a foot away by missing all 3 shots with his loch & load, then instantly switching to the old standby of "pull stickies out and smash that m1+m2 as hard as i fucking can", getting melee'd so i decided to laugh taunt in the distance at the same time the sniper who killed him did & tell the sniper "nice kill sniper!" in chat then he instantly put a kick vote up and started calling me a "retarded nigger" and since he was in a party it went thru due to them having majority on the server.
That isn't correct; the age of live services is here, and it isn't going away any time soon. Saying another company wouldn't maintain TF2 past a decade is simply false. League of Legends is still actively updated by Riot, correct? And do you think Epic Games will let Fortnite die? Even if TF2 weren't maintained, at the very least we'd have a sequel by now.
Just had a spy who backstabbed everyone like 10 meters away with 800 ping, ofcourse spamming lenny binds in chat , etc. Is this some sort of new cheat?
In-game reports actually get read and lead to half year matchmaking bans now. Even for griefing like that.
Casual? If Casual that's retarded because I could easily get banned for killing friendlies daily.
Valve announces that Todd Howard has temporarily become a part of the TF2 team. Everyone who has a copy of Skyrim gets a Vintage Dovahkin hat and a new Fus Roh Dah taunt .
That is definitely a feature of at least one current TF2 cheat. I'm not sure which one. I saw a spy doing it on my team while the enemy team raged about his facestabs. From my perspective, he teleported like a player with terrible ping, but it was more "regular" than the normal stuttery nature of high ping player movement. He was also auto-backstabbing from odd angles constantly. It only took 3 tries to get him kickvoted. It would have been more obvious immediately to his teammates if we could, you know, FUCKING SPECTATE him for a bit.
why would strangers get rid of the reason they're winning? you overestimate the internet.
SVDL and NeoDement make a comfy living exclusively off of TF2 revenue, last I checked with either of them regardless if it's my living or a h obby it's still something I dedicate plenty of my time to and something valve wouldn't be making any money off of TF2 without, so to have this sort of dismissive attitude is effectively shunning the sole reason TF2 has received support for a decade.
It's sad that's It's quite hard to kick cheaters. I often see legit players get kicked more than cheaters.
rip the thousands of workshop weapon models that'll never go anywhere
imagine if we got more reskins just to use some of those brilliant weapon submissions god, please.
Valve likes turning down easy effortless money for some reason.
the TFC rocketlauncher would be so godly for DH
A TFC throwback update with one reskin per class would make so much money, but it will never happen.
I don’t even know why people make weapons outside of stuff like the arms race commun events. Valve doesn’t add weapons to the game any more.
It's a funny thing, hope...
i'm still mad we never got a crowbar as a all class melee like come the fuck on valve, i'd pay a fortune for a strange killstreak one
Why have bots not been added to casual mode? even ones running off of mere auto-generated nav meshes would be better than waiting for the autobalance to start up and force someone who doesnt want to switch onto the opposite team.
lol valve themselves made a fully textured tf2 crowbar for meet the medic. @testinglol could post a picture. they were so close.
What's being forgotten about Jungle Inferno not retaining players is that queue times were absolutely abyssmal for casual and oftentimes you would get into a server with 12 people. I'm sure that put off a lot of returning players - no one of my friends that re-picked up the game are still playing now.
What are you talking about. I live in the middle of the South Pacific, and even in the dead of night of North America I can find a game in mere seconds if not under a minute. It’s only with large parties that it takes a little longer, but I’ve never heard of struggling to find a game after JI, especially since now you can queue for a match while already in a match or community server.
He's talking about post-launch Jungle Inferno, wih was a complete chaos and was nearly imposible due to server overload and other issues. AKA: Queqe Inferno.
It feels really good to drop a med's uber after he kills you with a random crit crossbow from miles away in the previous life.
