I remember getting triple plates for Anjanath and then double, I have 7 of them for some reason. Meanwhile getting Girros/Hornetaur parts is still torture. Good to see the desire sensor is still on point.
apparently if your shock trap + 2 tranq bombs don't subdue your target, beating the shit out of it while it's still shocked can proc the capture. who knew!
I didn't figure out how capturing works until after I defeated zorah magdaros
So I was helping someone capture something, just joined a random, the thing was almost dead, weak as shit and limping away. He fired a stone at it, then I fired a stone at it thinking "Oh it'll be fine, it's just a stone" the fucking thing died, I felt so fucking bad.
Yes, capturing gives more materials than carves and has a slightly better chance of rewarding rare drops.
So I'm still pretty new, but I thought I had an understanding of how the capture system works in this one. Had an investigation for a capture, and have level 3 knowledge on the monster. Beat the shit out of it for a little while, and for the 3rd or 4th time it gets up and runs to the next area. No limp. No skull on the minimap. I hit it twice more and it dies and I fail. What am I missing?
The canteen upgrades with story progress and you can unlock more camps in the field, that's about it
Don't quote me on this but I think if a monster is enraged it won't flee, so it's possible to deal enough damage to kill it before it runs off Anyway one telltale sign that a monster is almost dead aside from the more obvious ones such as limping is that they start dropping slinger pods, if you pay enough attention after the second pod drop the monster can be captured
It's not based on knowledge level for that, it's scoutflies tracking level, before engaging, collect as many tracks as possible until it doesn't say "Level Up!" next to the research points you get.
i already tested it, i only hit Y and nothing else, it still auto reloads. the only way to get it to not do it is to hit RT to take it out instead. the hard part is getting my brain to not hit Y now since ive been doing it for 40 hours
does the chance of feble hits increase with the amount of negative affinity?
Yeah it does.
Speaking of Ancient Civilization. The implication is that they ended up creating a lot of these species right? Like that's the reason the monsters are so weird?
Actually no. In lore the ancients went at war with the monsters/dragons and it caused a mass near extinction event for both. Some species like elder dragons survived this and others like the fatalis are still alive from this area. Normal monsters are more or less descendants of the few survivor species that survived said war, obviously with natural evolution taking effect over the ages.
I don't think the Ancient Civilization is responsible for any of the monsters. not sure if they added more about this part of the lore in World, but the Ancient Civilization was a lot more technological advanced than the current Civilization, and they had a huge, long war with the monsters (though it is implied it is the human who did something and caused this war) which resulted in the Ancient Civilization being destroyed.
Is the Ancient Civilization even mentioned in the games? afaik it's just unused concept art stuff.
Pretty much every game before World has mentioned Ancient Civilization in some way or another It's mentioned in some conversions, quest details and location details in previous games a lot. They aren't really unused concept art stuffs, but more like Souls game's style of storytelling. Also, a lot of the latter mechanics in Monster Hunter Frontier are recovered ancient techs
It did for me. In fact it was a problem because that was quick fire and it was making me waste coating and alerting monsters before I was ready so I had to rebind them.
Thanks for the tips guys. I did wonder about those pods, couldn't work out what exactly triggered them dropping. I was sure I had the scoutflies levelled too for this one but I could be wrong - I'll pay more attention next time. Cheers
Yeah, I've been playing with keyboard & mouse and its really surprising how natural the game feels to play
i actually dont think i can kill nerg using a HBG. his roar -> fly up into the air -> slam down attack has too much tracking/aoe to be able to be rolled away from (even with max evade extender), and i cant put my HBG away quickly enough to be able to superman dodge it ive carted to him 6 times now only through that move alone, and its a 1HK

Just got a sword with blast damage, holy fuck my framerate.
Equipping my palico with a blast weapon seems to be quite wonderful. Whever my little buddy pulls out a small toy ballista I start seeing massive explosions be created on big monsters dealing a whopping 120 damage each blast proc. I'm never getting any other weapon for him now this is the most perfect setup.
God damn all I ever do is take shitty screenshots in this game and I love it. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/238143/ac65fe10-8057-44af-b040-518385738078/20180815190357_1.jpg

textures are bugged right now to load in the lowest quality no matter what
After just having this come in and go "heard you like fighting big monsters, here have another" I know I'm going to hate this fucker. Doesn't help I've only just hit high level so I'm undergeared as FUCK to even think about tickling this twat.
I just hope MH:W get some more crazy events in the future, I haven't peeped the event schedule but I assume it's just to re-cap the PS Events. I miss fighting silly shit like a mini-Rathalos or Metal Gear Nibbelsnarf.
there's a shitload of people overblowing hackers/game breaking bugs rn. case in point, the person spreading misinformation that there's a 25% chance of save data corruption when killing xeno. this is absolutely false. the guy pulled out "25%" out of his ass because he was the only one affected by it out of his party of 4, and the cause of the save data corruption is the game crashing mid cutscene, and even then if it crashes mid cutscene the audio should still play, which you can listen to until the very end and then quit out of, not causing save data corruption. then there's also this clown https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunter/comments/97ly72/warning_hackers_are_able_to_alter_the_inventories/ who is again, lying that another user hacked his inventory. this is false, as the only "hack" (they're trainers, they're not hacks) is fling's +45 trainer, as seen by the very specific 8888 stacks. this trainer, and every trainer, cannot afect another user's inventory. this guy is trying to cover his own ass of using the trainer and not properly using it and accidentally giving himself 8888 stacks of all the monster mats.
