Blast dual daggers with the looting cloak DOSH https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ON-7v4qnHP8
Fairwind Charm can't be upgraded unlike the craft-able Blessing Charm with it's upgrades. You can get Blessing Charm III in time and not have to wear specific armor to get the skill to 50% dmg reduction. You can get Blessing Charm II before Nergigante and be able to wear whatever else you want with 30% bonus, if anything Fairwind charm is not all that OP, and it only gives like 1 level in attack boost which is not all that amazing later on when you could get Attack Charm II or III to boost a few levels up. Divine Blessing is really good though and I think(?) it saved me from a 2nd cart on the last story quest cause there was an attack that blew off like 3 quarters of my HP when it kicked in.
all 3 levels of devine blessing on the charm would be nice i currently use armour with that
get the high rank bone set, it's easy to craft and has everything you need for Hunting Horn early on

Horn Maestro, Slugger, Partbreaker, depending on whether or not you get a horn that can heal anything with recovery up (not speed)
i have so much money its not even funny somebody help me i have addiction, these poor diablos are just goldmines im drooling
why isn't everyone using wide range, it's amazing
meanwhile, I went with my friend who's already somewhere at early high rank, and he gawks at how weirdly hard it is to fight him this time in low rank aswell
new handler outfit suggestion: Literally a fucking gag that mutes all of her voice lines I would pay way too much for this swear down
Have you consider trying to use different weapons? For my first encounter against Nergigante, I fought it with my gunlance and got one shot when it sat on me (more like a flying headbutt), so I switch back to my longsword and attacked iit from behind. It's pretty much like what others have said. You'll have to learn the monster's movement and think through before you attack or use some other equipment if it helps as well. Also, Later I started to farm Nergigante so i could build Nergal Reaver and during my farming session with a party I killed Nergigante with my slinger although I didn't take the shot when it hit, but it came up aferwards on my reward screen https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/238942/7083789d-a78e-49f6-b079-1755b0ec7628/20180818174545_1.jpg and how my character looks at the moment https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/238942/e8e4b4ed-558c-4f76-b925-00075a43806b/20180818153837_1.jpg
I want a mod for her to be completely invisible, she's already stained my campaign experience. At least if she's invisible on top of being muted I could just pretend she was the MC's hallucination.
More like Bandit Cloak with HBG machine gun fire.
Kushala Daora is the most annoying fucking thing in this entire game. Everything he does knocks you back. I had no problems with Teostra and Vaal Hazaak but this fucking duder won't let me get a single hit in. Get too close to him? Get knocked back like he threw wind at you. Leaves tornadoes that last forever. Rarely if ever touches the ground. This is infuriating.
Just hoard Flashbugs in your item pouch you can craft well over 3 Flash pods in a mission and just beat Kushala in like a drum, or you can use a LBG to knock him down from the sky, and if you have a lot of berries from doing bounties you can turn them all into different forms of bullets specifically meant to take advantage of his weaknesses.
Wind proof doesn't work on him from what the wiki says. I keep forgetting about flash pods.
Aw that's awful, welp good luck with the tornadoes and that wind aura he has.
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/130186856812773377/480618237705584640/unknown.png Frames before disaster I didn't have too much trouble with Kushala personally, but he got tedious when he was summoning so many tornados I didn't know where I could move. Just make sure you have flash pods and flashflies on you at all times and flash him when he moves out of the tornados.
Only his actual set prevents wind pressure since his wind is "black wind" and wind proof only protects from Lumu and wing flaps. Poison however, prevents him from using his wind. It also lessens the force of his tornadoes. Rocksteady mantle prevents his knockback as well. Long Weapons also work but in general you should be attacking his head anyways since his body doesn't have a weakpoint unless you're desperate for claws.
Im starting to think the charge blade isn't all that good. Sure its got a shield which is nice and all but the greatsword/hammer just deals way more damage than the charge blade in axe mode. Im genuinely considering giving up my life of charge for a hammer.
the only problem I have with Kushala Daora is that his final "summon fucking shit loads of tornados to encompass the battlefield" death rattle lags the shit out of my game.
Axe mode is just to hit things high up (tails/head) and for the Super Amped Element Discharge. You can build up phials really quickly, so you can keep smashing that shit.
Healing with the horn is pretty worthless imo, potion pretty much always heals faster than you performing all those melodies and you are wasting time not dealing damage. If you really want to do a healing build, I'd recommend a Wide Range SnS/LBG or even IG build instead. Hunting Horn can match up the damage output of most other weapons while increasing the damage output of others, so you should be attacking and buffing your team instead of healing. While you can still do a Wide Range build with Hunting Horn if you wish, it is very inefficient as putting away your HH during battle is slow and messes up your melodies. Not to mention your attack are quite slow so you can't really react to a lot of a stuffs and heal in a instant. Horn Maestro is a overall good skill for Hunting Horn, but it can depends on the Hunting Horn you're using as well as your playstyle. If you aren't frequently performing melodies then you can choose to skip it. Although for early game build there's not much choice so just get it. Slugger can be useful but it isn't something worth going for. It's a good skill if you have the points to spare Partbreaker is pretty meh. It is easy enough to break most parts in solo and the damage increase isn't really that obvious in multiplayer imo. If you are really going for parts then it might be worth building if you have points to spare I guess. For later game builds I would recommend going for High Earplug and Weakness Exploits instead. For melodies, Self Improvement is the most important and the easiest/simplest melody to perform. It's a speed buff to yourself and Mind's Eyes on Encore, try to keep it up for the whole fight. Not sure which patch the PC version is on but iirc one of the updates buffed the Encore to provide a 15% attack boost to self as well. Attack Up / Defend Up are the two other essential melodies for Hunting Horn, it can benefits anyone with any build, so these two should be the main melodies you should go for when looking for Horns. Wind Negate / Earplug can be useful, although they are nerfed in this game that Encore wouldn't increase the power. I personally prefer Wind Negate over Earplug since those who need Earplug probably already built it themselves while no one really build for Wind. Muck Res. / Status Res. / Other Res. can makes multiplayer game a lot safer as they greatly increase survivability, but not many Hunting Horns have them so they're pretty situational. While the other melodies not listed here are useful, I generally wouldn't put them in a higher priority than the ones above so they are just a bonus if the Hunting Horn has them. Anyway, while I play a little bit of Hunting Horn, I wouldn't call myself a main so feel free to correct me if there are anything wrong with the stuffs above.
I'm no main myself and these are just from personal experience since I used datura horn iii which only has health recovery anyway and Earplugs (L) so my reasoning was mostly built around that
Yeah I didn't meant to offend or anything and I can see where you are going from, but I died a little inside every time I see a HH trying to heal while staying away from the monster. It's rarely useful imo.
no offense taken, i just figured it was a feasible idea by this point i'm firmly seated as a lover of the bow and SnS either way
I'm new at Monster Hunter games, do you lads recommend a Controller or Keyboard for this one?
There's still the problem that KBM doesn't have mouse raw input, but I've been enjoying my time with KBM just fine.
I say go with controller; everything you must hit is very large and controller is just intuitively more relaxing to play with
