Monster Hunter - PC can finally get hip checked too!

Higher damage and, well, the special ammo types.
Also aiming the Dragon Piercer is the most awkward fucking thing in the world oh my god
are you using the actual aiming?
...Yes. Am I not supposed to? It's super awkward because when I aim I have to form a claw to move the pointer, even though I cannot physically move and there's literally no reason as to why it doesn't aim with the left stick in that mode.
nah i just thought maybe you werent using it or something, yeah its a little weird to use
It's probably the only thing in this entire game that I could totes see being mega easier on the Mouse and Keyboard.
Can anyone who's bought this game tell me how the optimization is? I'm weirdly and irrationally hateful of playing games that frequently dip sub-60 fps.
i7-8700k, GTX 980 and 16GB RAM.
It runs pretty well. If you have to you can disable Volume rendering and get a pretty sizable fps boost.
Good to see Kirin is just as infuriating to fight as it's been in every past game.
And by good I mean not good at all, fuck Kirin.
do you usually get a solid 60 fps or higher?
I don't monitor my FPS so I don' t know what it is exactly but whatever my fps is it the game never slows or hiccups.
Anjanath gave me a shit load of trouble but after that it's been a breeze? Either I got gud or the monsters weren't that bad. Even Legiana didn't really give me that much trouble. Is there an enemy I should keep a lookout for that's particularly troublesome without spoiling too much.
Cannot wait for that event to be live on PC.
I want my damn wiggler hat
Mephisto and Baal's brother will probably give you trouble.
That's similar to mine except I have an older i7-4790k. I can max it at 1080p and consistently get 60+fps if I turn down volume rendering (which is volumetric fog) down to low (even more off as mentioned above). I personally like it since it adds some depth to the game but it's a very subjective setting since with it off the game does look sharper in the distance.
LOD Bias (which controls detailed models in farther distances) to Mid can also make me get away further with a 80+fps on my 144hz monitor, and other than those two, other graphical settings are easy to max out while keeping a consistent 60+fps.
All good info, thanks a ton.
Basically pushing through as fast as possible to get to the plunderblade. This is going to take a while...
Theres also apparently a fix by some community member that makes the game run better on lower end systems (something about the way it handles threading)
In related news the monster hunter reddit is hilarious right now, there are so many posts of people complaining about the network connectivity issues and flaming anyone that points out the game has been live for 4 days with these extremely immature arguments.
Seen a few people claiming that the game devs are incompetent if its taking them "this long to fix it" or that they are "cheapskate money grabbers" because modern game companies want nothing more than unlimited riches at the expense of connectivity issues.
"Why the video bame not just get another servers?????"
Do you have Resolution (Prefer Framerate) on?
Nope, also on High as well.
Can you change so that when you start aiming you aim where your camera is pointing and not the direction your character is facing?
Odogaron is such a fun fight. Fighting it with a longsword feels like it's a dark souls boss.
Actually I feel the opposite. Aside from using a support build with the lunastra light bowgun, there's no point to use a light bowgun since heavy bowgun can do everything light can do but better.
the network issues seem to be NAT traversal though and people still have problems with it on ps4, i can play with 90% of rando's fine but it just never connects to the one friend i want to co-op with and a lot of the ingame systems (cutscenes blocking co-op) are just stupid. overall the games great though so i accept it for what it is
if your having performance issues the first settings to adjust should be volumetric fog and sh difuse theres little to no noticeable difference with those settings, although i dont like the look with volumetric fog off

They still have a point. The game is unoptimized as fuck and pretty sharp jank in a lot of places and is actually running at sub Scorpio resolutions on every texture. Now the network stuff is not as legit on every complaint, as Capcom didn't expect the kind of throughput they got, but that doesn't excuse the P2P issues that have jack shit to do with traffic.
The simple fasct is even if they did it themselves, they should have paid QLOC to do a final playability pass on the game, cause at this point QLOC knows the engine better than they do, especially on PC.
Typical Capcom arrogance.
Anjanaths are bad for your health. Sorry @thisguy123

Side note, apparently the ports that the game uses are the same as the ones used by steam community and as a result it's causing that disconnect and reconnect thing with steam community.
Fix is either set yourself to appear offline/invisible in steam or open the following ports on your router/firewall.
TCP: 27015-27030 / 27036-27037
UDP: 4380 / 27000-27031 / 27036
I cant fully confirm if this works myself but I've seen others claiming it does.
In my defence i had next to 0 time between landing after being knocked off a cliff and the fire singing the hairs of my bumhole off. But yes Anjanath can shoot fire at surprising angles, jump surprisingly high and squeeze through surprisingly small holes.
special attacks do obscene amounts of damage if used correctly and many ammo types have lower recoil and higher mag size
also more range
You can get some interesting final shots with a bow:
