Monster Hunter - PC can finally get hip checked too!

Shit, should've gone with a female character. The customization options look better and a few armor upgrades later my dude is built like a brick shithouse, blocking my view.
So, as someone who hasn't played since 4U and just picked up the PC version , when the hell are we getting Zinogre? I accepted that he wasn't included but then I ran into Odagaron and WHY IS HE JUST A SMALL BORING ZINOGRE.
So how long until you get banned for using a modification that will hinder Capcom from selling the inevitable "Transmog Stones" for 1,99 each?

Even with hundreds of hours in this game getting shots like this are so satisfying
Holy shit odogaron was hard for me as a hammer user.
It's my favourite weapon but I feel like a bit of a dumbass using a hammer. Almost every other weapon has some technical stuff to it like charge bars or different forms or whatever witchcraft is involved with insect glaives but the hammer is just hit stuff til it falls over then hit it some more.
Hammers have amazing slide attacks, what's wrong with it? They're very satisfying to use with big dick damage.
Nothing is wrong with it, like I said, it's my favourite weapon. It just feels really simple compared to almost everything else.
You guys ever use poisoned/whatever meat bait? I get how it works but it seems a lot of work and waiting for the stars to align just to get one status proc
feed the green pickle (when we get him) a bunch, he loves it.
Simplicity is the best part. Shows the nerds who use fancy tricks who the real boss of this gym is.
Speaking of hammer, the next dude to make me flinch while im in the middle of my big bang combo on the head is going to get launched into the fucking stratosphere. Let the hammer have the head, if you got a severing weapon go to the damn tail.
I love how each weapon now has its own attack whilst mounting.
However I forget almost every single time to charge the hammer attack since I'm already mashing the button.

Wait you can charge the hammer blow while mounted?
Can someone enlighten us on the finer nuances in mounting a monster?
Getting on top and just mashing attack to chip away health is one thing, but when does the charge attack opportunity happen? Do you hold to charge it further? What happens if you hold too long? What is the optimal place to sit on a monster?
Diablos seems like a massive step up in difficulty, Rathalos wasnt so bad he just kept running away like a bitch
I joined a quest yesterday with 3 other hammerguys.
Seeing 4 big dudes hammering a monster on it's head repeatedly while it's lying on the ground is hilarious.
I think I know a few things; attacking a monster while you're in the air does mounting damage. If you pass a certain threshold of mounting damage you then obviously mount the monster. If the monster has been mounted recently then you need to do more mounting damage to mount it again - this is the same as e.g. stun/trapping, monsters will wake up/break out faster if they've been KO'd/trapped recently.
Once mounted spamming attack will eventually let you do a "final mounted attack" based on your weapon type which will most often cause a monster knockdown. I think hitting the button faster than you stab allows you to reach the final attack faster, might just be placebo though. Greatswords/Hammers can charge their final attack, which has 3 levels I think (no charge, level 1, level 2.
As far as I know there's no "optimal" place to be mounted on a monster - maybe hammer is better mounting the head, and bladed weapons mounting the tail, but not sure. If you hold the button too long I think the attack just triggers anyway.
A few tips;
Watch the top right of the screen to have controls highlighted so you know when to brace/move
IIRC flashing the monster will knock the mounted hunter off - very inconsiderate, try to avoid this
Sword and shield and insect glaive are arguably the best weapons for mounting thanks so SnS charge leap move and IG's aerial attacks (B/Circle doesn't do mount damage, whereas Y/Triangle will)
fyi for whatever reason if the monster is about to thrash around (not slam into a wall or something to attack the spot youre mounted on, just thrash around in general to knock you off) you can just jump to another part to not lose your stamina and be able to still attack too
I'm not sure if this issue has been resolved or remedied on the PC version concerning Tempered Eldar Dragon quests, there was some what of a problem that some people struggled to do endgame grinds because they simply lacked Tempered Dragon quests. So what some people did myself included, when you get the quest to breakthrough the 49HR ceiling by fighting imo, probably the number one most annoying monster cunt I've ever fought, I didn't complete it right away but rather I went in and just collected alot of his monster tracks or furs or whatever he leaves behind repeatedly, probably went into that mission like 20 times. Stacked up roughly 25 tempered eldar dragon quests, having that many really helped as just simply trying to do them all would branch out to even more quests and without knowing it just multiplied.
You can also press the attack button to grapple back on too.

I miss brachydios. Having to wait til high rank to get blast weapons is rough.
Brachydios was the bane of my existence in 4U. He's already agile and deals ridiculous damage, add in the Frenzy Virus and he never stopped moving.
Armor glamour is just one of those many things that this game just doesn't have for no reason
I loved fighting him, I'd say the only annoying part about him is the version of him where his fist explodes periodically. I lost count the amount of times he carted me while he was laid over on his side inviting us to attack him.
He bullshitted me once by knocking me down instantly and then just doing a repeated move that would keep me knocked down and taking damage. But on the final down I ran him ragged, he never got a chance to make a foothold and got chased everywhere.
Rathalos tried to hold his ground but got bitch slapped. He went to sleep in his nest at the top of the tree and I just set up large bombs around him then nailed him, and the bombs, in the face with the dragon piercer, dropped him instantly with that.
I fucking love that move, hit a monster nose on and the arrow goes through them just dealing damage every meter and ripping them apart. I literally shredded three parts off the Diablos with one shot fighting him. And you get a good hit on them they remember it because they'll start prioritizing your ass if you start to charge one. Which if you timed it right means they'll be turning and charging just in time to get it crammed in to their mouth. It can also cut tails which was always a massive issue for the bow before. You had to use it's barely functional arrow swipe and hope you got lucky. Now you just keep shooting them in the face with piercers and they lose everything.
i just got to high rank, the zorah magdaros set piece was so fucking boring
switched to dear lutemis, it seems quite powerful but i think it would be easier to use with pad rather than keyboard. i might be wrong but it doesnt seem to break parts as easily as the axe
big/scripted elder dragon fights like that have always been boring, and it just feels like they shove them in so we can have an actual 'boss' in a game centered around boss fights. actual elder fights like teostra and shit are way better tbh
I forgot how weird the progression of areas is past the fissure.
"Hey it's the coral highlands NO GO TO THE ROTTEN VALE nah but go back to the highlands again because some monster that's not really an issue is blocking progression"
