anyone managed to get into the gungame event yet? I hopped on like 30-40 minutes and apparently it's a single long run for each day

I got a permanent CR5 with some mods attached from somewhere. Never spent money on it so I have no clue where it came from. Its useful.

May have been the GLORYDAYS code - it gave you a permanent character-bound Joker CR5 PR2 with Hunting Sight 3 and Improved Rifling 3. The code was active when we had the "500 kills in 5 days to get 50 Joker Mystery Boxes" (or something like that) event.

the CR5 is a clone of the NTEC after all - don't be surprised it's so good :p

honestly I remember contributing to a big fuckoffhuge list of "here's why the APB weapons aren't p2w you retard" but later on G1 really enjoyed introducing broken weapons in the store before nerfing them (see Troublemaker, which is still v good btw, or the Yukon which only got bugfixed recently)

Its funny, I played in the closed beta all the way back when RTW was still at the helm. Forgot about the game then noticed it was passed off to other people and realized I missed the chance to keep that old account. I load it up like one weekend a month now and try to grind a bit to get anything.

lowkey hoping the engine upgrade brings back a portion of FPEU / FPNA but it's probably far too late Miss those days

Is there any recent news on the engine update? I wouldn't mind getting back into the game if it's fixed up.

Well, better late than never, I guess. How's the balancing job going on? I remember getting quite pissed as a crappy lil silver with an N-TEC playing against golds with premium who came into the silver district.

there aren't a lot of people playing so matchmaking will have a hard time giving you fair matches. Though most of those golds will most likely be using the same N-TEC as you it is one of the most versatile guns in the game after all

Anything useful I should know if I get back into it? Like metas, strats, guns, etc. I've been playing the game the same slow way since 2011 and I still have a lot to unlock.

Meta weapons you can quickly gain access to : HVR, N-TEC, Obeya CR762, OBIR, OCA, N-FAS. Shotguns now do higher damage on partial hits, but most of them have pretty bad range unless you slap Improved rifling 3 on them If you're looking to mod your guns, the OCA presets are pretty awesome, the Obeya CR762 and NTEC definitely need Hunting Sight 2/3 to achieve full potential Tutorial gets you a permanent weapon with no slots - so make sure to finish it Other than that be smart, don't stand in the open when firing, use cover, car spawners are you best friend, use cover, and try to incorporate your grenades as much as you can in your strategies (they're great for pushes and finishing people off)

And STAR is one of the better guns in the game. People often ignore it.

I've still got the keys to the Joker clan, as well as templates for the uniforms and vehicles.

Should I get into this game now? Is APB about to experience a renaissance?

I remember playing the crap out of this for like 2 weeks and then just suddenly and completely dropping it out of the blue. I'm trying to remember why. Guess maybe I could try it out again if there's big things in the works for it soon.

Worth adding to the thing about one permanent unslotted weapon - though it may seem tempting to pick some guns, arguably the best choice is to redeem the ALIG light machine gun. This way, you ensure that you will always have an anti-vehicular weapon in your locker. ALIG serves its purpose just right, even without any mods on it. In fact, its preset versions all contain the Heavy Barrel mod, which lowers your damage output but improves accuracy - and both of those stats on the ALIG are perfectly fine the way they are.

I'd hold off til the engine upgrade. It's not really worth getting into nowadays due to laggy servers, abysmal optimization and influx of blatant cheaters. Not to mention that the NA server is pretty much dead.
