Vauban is perfectly usable in any sort of defensive situation. Sure there's probably better options but vortex and bastille both have their uses.
Vauban is my main. Just spam 3 and 4 and you'll be alright. Also spam the bounce pads because its objectively the best ability in the game.
Vauban is playable but that's about it. Easily my favorite frame but at the same time the most frustrating to use. He is so squishy and also lacks the energy sustain without spamming tons of pads to properly use his abilities. And even then he's just worse than so many other frames in virtually every mission type. Only non-corpus interception is he one of the best, as he can hold down all 4 points on his own with a proper build (though its a pain in the ass and Saryn can just wipe the map repeatedly with much less effort).
And don't get me started on how SLOW his second ability is. You have to wait a second and hold down the button before he throws a single trap down, you can't spam it at all. It feels so bad.
He's not the worst frame in the game, but he's close, and he's frustrating in many ways.
I don't think I've ever had this many bugs in Warframe until Fortuna.

And they're all K-drive related. You'd think DE could do a little more testing before release especially with all those delays huh.
I've had the K-Drive-without-frame bug happen when I accidentally hit the hotkeys for both archwing launcher and kdrive launcher at the same time
I had Archwing with no Archwing. I was simply sprinting VERY fast across the sky
Yeah, I was able to trigger it by launching into K-drive before I was done "inspecting" the downed Solaris operative on the ground there.
Last vid is the exact opposite bug, Warframe but no K-drive (but actually K-drive, hence the always facing forward and movement style). Couldn't attack and couldn't dismount the invisible K-drive. I was able to trigger that one by getting knocked back right as I launched my K-drive.
Even if that's what region chat is saying (I've had it off for a while now, so I honestly don't even know what's going on in region chat anymore), they aren't entirely wrong about Vauban needing an overhaul (though their exact reasons, whatever they may be, are probably less informative or just people bandwagoning without anything of their own to state as a reason why).
Going by personal experience, general observation during my time in the game, and conversing with others while I'm playing in random missions, the overall consensus so far for Vauban is that his kit needs to be overhauled. Coup basically described several issues with Vauban that most people have mimicked already (being squishy, his 2 being slow as hell, the lack of energy, and other warframes just being generally better options), and the general mindset I've observed from others is that he's just not the type of frame that players seem to like playing. Adding on to what Coup said, the changes they made to his 1 don't really make much of a difference, and a lot of players will just spam that ability instead of charging it up (just as they did before it was made chargeable). On top of that, his 3 and 4 are virtually the only two abilities people really ever use a majority of the time, and that just leaves half of his abilities virtually unused. His passive after it was updated is also barely even noticeable a majority of the time, as most people are already nuking things without it to even notice what little benefit it adds. Vauban's basically just a one trick pony with not much going for him in his current kit.
And let's not forget the whole acquisition process for getting Vauban's blueprints or crafting Vauban Prime, either. Getting Vauban's blueprints only from the alerts that come up is kind of screwy since it seems like most people tend to not be online when certain alerts for specific parts they need come up (and considering how infrequent the alerts seem to be, that makes it even more screwy), and the resource costs for Vauban Prime are obnoxious for anyone that's not no-lifing the hell out of the game or making use of boosters (and even then, they still have to wait on the Nitain Extract alerts since Vauban Prime requires a total of 20 and the boosters have no effect on them, which only shows how obnoxious it is to build Vauban Prime for anyone that's not no-lifing the game for resources).
I like playing Vauban, and he's been one of my favorites since I got back into the game a couple years ago, but I'm not going to ignore the problems with his kit. He really is in need an overhaul to bring him up to snuff with other warframes in the game.
That's a giant wall of text aimed at whom, directly?
'even vauban, even ember' pretty much covers it.
Vauban's energy economy and even life aren't an issue any more with the right mods and arcanes and before the rote answer 'but new players' Vauban is not designed for new players which is why his build economy is the way it is, he never was.
Vauban's issue is rather easily solved and that's by doing the same thing they did to Mag; make everything do damage. Period. Problem solved. No new powers, no month spanning rework where Pablo shakes a rubber chicken at a spaghetti code fragment trying to coax the power of ultimate juju from the ether while Scott uses his Super Mermaid Punch™ on a demon locked in a pentagram to grant vauban super awesome never before seen powers.
Real fucking simple. Vauban was created when CC was king because there was going to be a point in the farming cycle when enemies simply were never going to die because bullshit scaling. Enter Vauban, the guy who doesn't care if they die or not. After him frames were essentially split into CC or damage and occasionally both at pretty ok levels.
From Inaros onward, enemy scaling was altered and the meta has been CC AND damage and Vauban didn't get the memo.
So make the powers that do damage now do at least double, add the same environmental damage damage boost Inaros' 3 and Valkyr's 1 have and add straight up electric DoT to Bastille and Impact to Bounce, on top of hitting the walls and ceiling doing the same damage as the mentioned above and crushing DoT that scales upward for Vortex based on power strength.
Simple. Done.
Got a luck proc with RNG earlier. The exact mission I was farming Meso C3 at had a Meso fissure open, to which I opened my first Meso C3 (while farming for more Meso) and got the Chroma Prime Chassis without even upgrading the relic on my first try in a random group.
Also I miss void keys, where it only took 1 key for an entire group to get items (also miss the fact that it wasn't just an entire team facing only one group of enemies for the parts which kept me interested.)
I haven't been playing this game for a while and it seems a lot of stuff has happened since I just threw my arms upward at Warframe like a couple of years ago(?). Anyway I feel like farming some relics for Chroma Prime, I'm not sure if anyone here will be up to doing it with me in several hours.
I wonder if we'll ever meet another Tenno in a story sense. I mean obviously we are around other Tenno players all the time, but I mean an actual voiced, written, story character.
New concept looks like Ballas made into a warframe. Which is cool
Couldn't hit the nail on the head any better.
If you want to do static defense just pick Octavia over Vauban tbh:
Permanent invisibility for you and your team by literally teabagging
AOE damage ability that scales off of enemy damage i.e. infinitely
That ability may be deployed in a stationary way or put on a mobile platform and if it's static it can get augmented with your ult for way more range
You can choose to deploy the mobile ability by itself which will unconditionally pacify enemies around it instead of doing nothing
She has a unique gimmick that you can either mute and ignore entirely or choose to flavor each mission with a different soundtrack
Her passive allows you to not rely on pizzas with just Zenurik and affects your caster teammates too
Nyx/Titania reworks incoming: Nyx & Titania Dev Workshop
Nyx
New Passive: enemies have lower accuracy against Nyx
Mind Control: During the first 4 seconds, you can pump damage into your target, which will put a multiplier on how much damage it deals. Example given was "2500 damage -> 1.5x damage", tho numbers aren't final.
Psychic Bolts now strip up to 80% armor/shields
Absorb now expels damage of the type(s) it was received in, instead of always Magnetic.
Nyx will also get updated sounds
Titania
Tribute no longer has stacks. New power is equivalent to old full stacks
Tribute's Thorn damage reflect buffed to 50%
Tribute's Fullmoon 75% damage buff now applies to all companions + Razorwing butterflies
Lantern can be cast on 4 enemies (hold button to explode Lanterns)
Lanterns will have better tethers
Razorwing has innate vacuum
Basically Nyx is getting more damage and Titania is getting streamlined.
Thank god they aren't changing titanias 4
Yeah Titania isn't in need of a rework as much as she just needs to be better. She already has fans and her own niche
I'd really like an augment that allows Nyx to put absorb onto allies. It'd be great to send a mind controlled enemy or a squad member in to get agro enemies into a nuke.
Nyx's new passive seems... counter-intuitive considering her 4.
Unless they toggle it off when she uses it or something.
Her 4 is really fucking strong. It's the rest of her kit that isn't so spectacular.
To be fair, it doesn't matter whether the enemy has a straight shot at Nyx or not when her 4 is active. So long as the shots are at least hitting the sphere around her (and it's kind of hard not to), that damage will still end up being absorbed.

Aww, the new patch fixed the Synth modset from autoreloading Javlok when holstered. Why do they keep exempting this weapon from autoreload effects, it's not even a meta weapon.
