I've grown to be extremely sceptical of perfect scores games, especially after God of War (2018), but Rockstar seems to have one hell of a track record when it comes to their products.
Amusingly enough, the last Rockstar game I've played is Red Dead Redemption itself

I'm watching the first DF video, and with them saying how easy it is to turn the minimap on and off it making me want to try to play the game with the minimap toggled off as much as possible.
I saw someone a week or so ago say that if you do have the minimap toggled off the game does throw out more hints to the player of where objectives are, like npcs helping you. Sounds immersive as fuck.

Anyone knows if it's possible to play another game while installing? I think the installation from disk 2 is gonna be a long one so, considering I've also preordered Castlevania Requiem, i'm probably gonna play that if i can to kill time.
I remember when the first trailer got released, people pointed out that the train smoke looked too good not to be fake. Then people laughed at me for saying that it's real because Rockstar don't photoshop or edit their footage, they're not Ubisoft Glad to see I wasn't wrong about that.
Fuck it. Gonna trade trade in my Xbox one s for an x. The game doesn't look as great and run as great as I want it to.
Yeah I would not even consider playing this on base Xbox one since it doesn't reach 1080p at least.
Microsoft's choice of DDR3 RAM is really making an impact.
I'm guessing no; but which system are you on? I'm thinking of the OG PS4.
Also woke up this morning and I'm even more excited now than I was last night seeing all the reviews and coverage.
Yeah sorry, i'm on PS4
I had been hoping for awhile that upgrading to an Xbox One X from my launch Xbox One was worth it. It's been my main gaming platform, but the enhancements in many cross platform titles seemed marginal to be honest, even if they looked quite good. RDR2 has convinced me it was worth it.
Just got the game at my local GameStop, time to buckle up
wait you guys have it now
its 15:30PM 25/10/18 in the uk right now
i have 6 hours to wait still
for those getting it early:
I hope you have nothing important to do tomorrow
i don’t play enough Xbox One to justify from upgrading to an X, RDR2 is the first time I’ll be playing a new game on my XB1 since uh, 2016?
just not enough exclusives I want.
I watched the DF footage, that’s good enough for me.
The local stores here usually don't give a guck and sell games a day early as soon as they get it in. They didn't even bother to unpack the boxes and put them in the pack, they just kept them stacked behind the counter because they knew all the maniacs would storm the store as soon as word got out that they were already selling.
I'm free from now and over the entire weekend. This game is gonna be my life for the next few days and nights. Hope my flatmate next door doesn't mind
10 minutes of patch downloading left
If you want the best experience XBONEX seems to be the thing to already have had to get 4K.
But, XBONEX isn't worth getting RDR2 at native 4K for alone.
Honestly yeah its the exact same game, it looks amazing on every console. Its not like the experience will be diminished at all.
I think what Rockstar did right here is that they most likely did focus on the base versions of the consoles for target performance and visuals, with the Pro/X versions of either consoles serving as a luxury bonus for crisper 4k display, with the X being at a full native 4k, making it both worth having the beefier consoles while also making sure owners of the base versions aren't actually left out.
Looking at the DF footage, the normal XBone looks like it runs how RDR1 ran on the PS3.
Shit I'm having my last night shift tonight, I'll be coming in tomorrow morning and the little fucker will be in my mailbox. I aint gonna be able to sleep with that shit in my house un-played.
ughh gameplay videos so tempting...the game arrives here friday-saturday, should i just put myself in a coma?
I'd probably give it a shot with my S before I go out and get a One X tomorrow. The issues Digital Foundry pointed out could become a bit of a problem since I play from my pc monitor.

People give a shit what they think?
I'd say an upgrade from the launch to the the X is worth it, but from the S to X depends. I'd definitely try it out first and see, as the problems they pointed out might not be noticeable during game play. The X is a good investment if you'll be using it as your daily driver and to play future cross platform games.
Anyone here playing on a base PS4? I'd like to know how well it runs. Cause if it's at sub 30 at all times I'll personally just wait till an eventual PC release.
Digital Foundry has a video showing performance, it's linked at the very top of this page.
