The loan shark missions, fuck it makes me feel really bad. That farmer guy you beat is meant to be mentally handicapped and helpless, the German guy is a total asshole.
So how's this game perform on a standard PS4?
I've been playing it on a base PS4, it performs well but at some points the frame rate drops like a pig when you enter some settlements during busy periods, I haven't entered st dennis yet but I can imagine you may suffer some issues there. Otherwise it's been pretty smooth for me.
While I'd love to play this game since I missed out on playing RDR1, I lack a console. However, I feel like it's important to take in both positive news and negative news. https://twitter.com/FilmCritHULK/status/1055721023000080385?s=19 I am unsure if this thread contains spoilers, I doubt it does but it's still good to consider other opinions.
You can skip over the Blackwater Area by running through the Tall Trees.
Been playing for six straight hours on PS4 and it's faaaaaaaaaaaantastic
dont forget to stop wearing your bandanna when you dont need it. sheriffs in town started shooting at me because I didn't notice the little bit of cloth on my face.
Why even bother replying to his question? If RDR 2 PC was 6 months away... It already would have been announced.
thinking about it, RDR2 could very well be the GTAV of this gen. Probably a remastered version going to come out next gen, with a PC version accompanying it.
Played a few hours on PS4 slim. Good performance, but noticeable frame drops in busy moments. I have to say, it does actually feel like a slower and more cumbersome experience. But I think this is just the best "western simulator" ever. Forget gta and rdr1, they've taken their games to the next level with this. It's really blending the lines between genres and I think the realism and detail just elevates it to another level. It can feel a bit tedious at times, admittedly, but I don't think it's a big problem overall.
Late announcements are possible with Rockstar. Next-gen GTA V was announced at E3 2014 and all three versions were meant to release in November 2014. PC was delayed a few times, but the other versions were released without issues. That being said, we don't even know if the PC version is a thing and the only rumor about a release date said June/July 2019.
Okay, I'm loving the game so far overall - but there are a few componets to the gameplay that are fucking sucking the life out of me and it's killing my enjoyment of the game. Gimped fast-travel that costs a fuckton of money to acquire but is ultimately useless. Why couldn't they just keep the RDR1 way of travel? Unforgiving and frustrating penalties for horse-deaths. RDR1 you'd open your inventory, activate a horse deed and bam, new horse. Why remove this? HORSE. WHISTLE. DISTANCE?! I hated that shit in Breath of the Wild, I hate it here too. I don't want to feel tethered to my goddamn horse all the time. The entirety of New Austin being locked off until apparently the last few missions is the biggest fuck-you. I just want to GO there. Jesus fuck, I just wanna EXPLORE. I hate when games lock off entire areas of the map for some stupid story-reason. I hated it when GTA did it, I hated when RDR1 did it, I hate when Legend of Zelda does it - it's bullshit. Not to mention when GTA 5 came out and they finally scrapped that idiotic practice I was hopeful that was the end of it, but I GUESS NOT. New Austin isn't a small part either, it's a pretty sizable chunk of the map just LOCKED OFF until the very end. Goddamn. So yeah, aside from that it's pretty much a tie in GOTY with God of War tbh, fantastic and worthy sequel/prequel. I LOVE what they did with the hunting system, it's so much more fun now. I already know I'm gonna be spending countless hours tracking bears.
I'm actually finding it much LESS tedious than the first RDR. I'm just so sucked into the world that everything feels like it flows perfectly.
This game is hardly "shallow". Everyone post your Arthurs https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108621/d5bcf601-73ce-4174-b360-dc8702670bfa/image.png
I really like it so far. Game looks incredible on Xbox One X. Yeah, these are pretty much the same criticisms I have. Buying stuff from shops is a lot slower than it should be too. Realism is fine and all, but after a certain point it starts getting in the way of the actual game. Still enjoying it so far, though
So uh, has anyone else encountered the mud men in the swamp?
how shit does it run on a regular PS4?
My copy of the Ultimate Edition came with 2 DLC Vouchers and 2 Maps, ( Odd, but i'll take it. [ Helps to have a map! ] ). Anyway, i'd hate to have this last one go to waste if it were to go expire. First come, first serve! [ HDC9-94NR-LJQL ] -Please quote if you'd claimed it, Thank you.
So far it's held a steady 30 for me, haven't reached the big towns yet but it definitely runs better than RDR1 did on the PS3 so I can't complain.
Got it. Thank you! I had to cancel my pre-order a while back, but should be able to pick the game up in a couple of weeks.
The first thing I did once I could free roam was purposly run into a tree to see my horse fall over, also did anyone else see the hanging body, well top half of the body under the train bridge near Valentine, couldn't really do anything with it but there was text on the wall saying "watch my works" or something like that
Hmm good point. So I guess it is definitely further than 6 months away..
Just spent around an hour exploring the area around the first camp after the prologue and I keep hearing the bone chilling sound of a cougar pouncing around the camp. Even after all these years I still recognize that sound from RDR1 and it keeps me on edge.
doing it right by drinking whiskey from the bottle and smoking unfiltered cigarettes while playing.
I love how they got all the original voice actors from the first one back (sans Javier Escuella, does anyone else think he sounds like Captain De Santa from the first game or is it just me?)
the drinking mission in valentine was so incredible. probably the funniest mission in any rockstar game. i've loving this game so much so far.
Go back there and look at the supports near the body, there is a note there. I ran into that in night in first person and it shocked the hell out of me.
Found an Easter egg some guy was passed out on a beach and when you loot him he wakes up and Arthur takes a letter and then the guy goes back sleep the letter was a love letter for Miss McFarlane
NPCs will comment on your clothing, that bear head hat I’m wearing last page gets be weird looks and comments
My arthur has a pretty classic sleazebag look going on https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/58141/f8d3c0c4-7d1a-42f9-8874-305291daffb1/Red Dead Redemption 2_20181027160421.jpg
