I wish they toned the "realism" down in this. There's a lot of stuff I like in this game but the "realism" just makes a lot of things a chore, like having my gun load out getting fucked up every time I hop on a horse, or some mission transporting me miles away without my horse forcing me to either steal a horse and lose honour (for some reason robbing a horse is dishonourable but robbing a train full of people and then shooting a bunch of law men isn't?).
The bounty system is weird, I stole some guy's horse out in the wild and he told me I would regret this, he proceeded to run off a cliff and drown, it counted as a murder despite no one seeing us.

Maybe it's that some animal witnessed the murder and scurried or flew away to notify the authorities (gta v deja vu?)
I got reported for aiming at a fucking snake.
I literally got a bounty everywhere. No way I can afford to pay off all that shit.
You can pay it off with all the money you loot off the corpses of hundreds of bounty hunters that seem to be behind every tree.
you can go to jail to get the bounty erased, it will probably wipe out what cash you have on you, though
Story spoilers: I feel like I should be happy that Rockstar took the effort to model out an entire fucking island for the sake of having the characters me somewhere other than 'Murica for a while but I fucking hate that Rockstar took the effort to model out an entire fucking island for the sake of having the characters me somewhere other than 'Murica for a while. I'm, what, 20-25 hours into the game now and you're telling me that for the next couple of hours I won't be able to use any of my guns, horses or items I accrued? God fucking damnit. I mean, I audible groaned when Arthur walked around that shoreline and the realization sank. Fucks sake, I JUST WANNA GO TO NEW AUSTIN.
This actually made me wanna get the game. Shit like this is cool
Is it just me or are NPCs too hostile? I remember in Red Dead Redemption you could just walk up to some camping folks, sit down with them, and listen to them tell stories. In 2 I approach someone and the threaten to blow my brains out.
what is your reputation?
I feel like the bounty/wanted system being more aggressive is supposed to be diagetic in the sense that you start the game in a much more "civilized" part of the US at that time and as a result people are way less inclined to allow this sort of thing happening. Kinda like how in Mafia 3 you have really high police presence and fast response in white neighborhoods but move to the black neighborhood and the police takes way longer to appear when a crime is reported if at all.
post your arthurs https://i.imgur.com/QD3Qgl2.jpg unlocked the barber and turned my hobo arthur into trendy arthur. i'm amazed at the depth of the customization. the hair and facial hair styles even have multiple length varitions.
15 hours into the game so far and damn I haven't had an open world game keep me seated from morning to late night. There's just so many little things and details and I can't help but just take it all in everywhere I go. It's been a while since a game had me marvel on the technical achievements and gameplay features every few minutes. I heard some people already complained about the overt realism like looting, picking things up individually and stuff, but those are the kind of things that I really found great. Just going to the general store for the first time and browsing the items and seeing Arthur pocket them one by one as you buy them are the kind of details I don't normally expect from a huge sandbox like this. It's like the best parts of Shenmue's exploration but on a vast open world in the old American west. I love it! I wasn't really hyped or excited for this game when it was announced, especially when I heard it was going to be a prequel centering around Dutch's gang. And boy the game really surpassed my expectations and blew me away in all fronts so far. Nothing really felt like a chore to me, and the random side-quests that just popped up around the map really makes the world feel alive. Even if the multiplayer might end up being another cash cow like GTA Online, Rockstar still deserves a lot of kudos for what they built with the single-player alone.
Ughh, somehow either through my own stupidity or a glitch on Rockstar's part I lost one of my favorite horses. I had taken the saddle off my main horse which was hitched up in camp (Which I though I had registered at the Stable because she was named in-game) and put it on one of the wild horses at the camp; then while riding that anonymous horse, I had stolen a horse in the overworld and transferred my saddle from the camp horse to the newly stolen horse. However when I got back to camp my original horse, Sam, was nowhere to be seen and did not show up in the registered horses list in Valentine. Unless you can name the horse and not register it; which while really dumb is still an oversight on my part. Not sure if anyone has any insight if I did something wrong or not; but it really put a damper on my latest marathon session. Had a lot of fun doing more missions today; there was one in particular I was really struggling to do until I decided to try a different sneakier approach so I set up a campfire near my objective and slept until night; than when I woke up I approached the area where my objective was near and things actually turned out in my favor because my objective actually started to move at night. Kept details purposely vague, but I was really happy how it panned out. Sigh; now I have this stupid new useless horse who doesn't have have the same memories as old Sam.
It really depends on the NPC, some of those who were camping did invite me to join and I got the option to have some small talk and use their fires to cook and rest. A few others were hostile and wanted me to piss off. Its a bit of a mixed bag and maybe honour has something to do with it as well.
How do I look at my current challenges from the journal again, I completely forgot how
I've managed to play like 2-3 hours a day because of how fucking slow and tedious every mechanic seems to be, probably exacerbated by just having finished AC:Odyssey where all the tedious shit like looting takes half a second as opposed to having to go through the long ass animations for what probably adds up to 20% of my total play time.
The fact that you can actually slam your horse into things if you go too fast is both hilarious and annoying. Sometimes the game automatically moves me around a stagecoach directly into a tree and I crash.
I tried putting an NPC down on the tracks just past a station but the conductor ran off. I tried moving the train myself but the NPC either freed himself or the engine de-spawned him.
Anyone help with with the home construction side mission need a wagon of Lumber and can’t find where it isn’t on my map.
All this debate about realism in a videogame versus entertaining factor brings back some very nasty memories from the release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Gunna hunt for squirrels and Bears because I’m loving the Hat and Coat you can get
I really love the slow pace realism stuff , there's a lot of detail I always wanted in games like both dynamic beard and hair growth. Hunting to feel like hunting where you can't just bring in a thousand pounds of meat on average. I feel like it helps you really get into the game. The only issue is previous faster paced games have made me impatient so as much as I want it slow I still catch myself trying to rush through things. I wonder if Rockstar took some criticism about V being too video gamey and went for a more realistic direction again
Is the game super quiet for anybody else? I have to crank the volume right up on my tv compared to everything else.
Why do so many people have a problem with quotes on mobile? I can delete them fine.

Yeah I noticed that too, so weird, no matter the sound settings in the menu, the only way it's loud is if you wear headphones/earphones
