I really miss you guys. I'm gonna start coming back to the pub crawl events. Arthur Locke here, btw
I added invisibility spook capabilities to the above avatar and visited a couple of streaming friends. I think it was the best addition I could have made.

Is it normal to experience severe back pain while playing VR? Am I just babby?
So, watching RedLetterMedia's review of Ready Player One inspired me to try this game again and I still don't know how to feel about it.
One one hand, my ranking is still 'new user' so I'm blocked by pretty much everyone who isn't a memer or a mute anime girl avatar and it fucking blows.
On the other hand, the loneliness made me realize just how zen the game can be when you're all by yourself. Travelling around all the empty and underappreciated worlds is pretty comfy.
Here's a little angel emoji that I drew for my girlfriend:

In my experience, the roles don't mean shit aside from Known or Trusted User (you become an active target for crashers for some reason). When you become a trusted/known user, you even get an option to just appear as a normal user.
I have most of my safety settings on high except for friends. I also rarely go to public worlds anymore. I only hang out with friends or friends-of-friends.
Made a honorabru avatar and it turned out pretty well

Community Labs update is out. Basically, it changes the way worlds are approved.
https://docs.vrchat.com/docs/latest-release
When you upload a world, you will be asked if you want to publish the world to Community Labs.
If you choose to do so, your world is placed into Community Labs.
This is a place where anyone can upload their content, and allow users to browse and find content to explore.
You'll know when you're entering a Community Labs world.
Portals to Community Labs worlds will have a special icon and a ring around them.
In addition, you'll receive a warning while loading a Labs world.
This warning lets you know that the world they're entering is in Community Labs, and has not been curated.
If you accept this warning, you'll continue on with loading the world.
If you find a Community Labs world that violates our Terms of Service or Community Guidelines, the Quick Menu will have a fast shortcut to the Report World menu.
This allows you to quickly submit a Report on a world you find unsuited for the Labs.
Additionally, if a world is so disruptive that it requires that you leave immediately, then you can find the world in your Recent Worlds row and report it that way.
Once we're done with Stage 1 and have taken a look at how Labs has fared, things will change.
In future stages, if your world does well in Labs and generally has a lot of good signs that your world is being enjoyed, your world will be made Public automatically!
To reiterate, this isn't how Community Labs will work in Stage 1, but this is the process we're targeting in the final version.
As we move on to further stages, we'll document the new process for you.
If your world doesn't get a lot of attention, your world may sit in Community Labs for quite some time.
Worlds that are reported for legitimate reasons will be removed from Community Labs, and moderation action may be taken against the author in severe cases.
TL;DR community labs allows you to upload any world as public, without any "curation" from the VRchat staff like before. Expect to see absolute hellscape of terrible worlds, crasher worlds, etc.
What could go wrong?
If the world is good, it'll be made public in the future. Shit worlds can be reported.
I can't wait to blunder through some portals into the millions of vore worlds again...
Though to be fair, I've not found many good worlds anyway
I know you intended to make the hilt look like it has ass cheeks but they make it look like a penis
At least you have to be user or above to use that, so that should hopefully make that less of a mess. Also only one world can be published that way per week so that's something.
I looked at a few worlds there and while most of the ones I've visited were alright, one didnt have any floor collision. How can those people fuck up so hard?
We spent 5 hours trundling through lab worlds and found not just vore but also an avatar that fired a beam of hentai, and had sex sound effects and stuff. Linked because nsfw

Community Labs didn't disappoint.
Progress: Shooting portals work, only problems are it's not updating the teleport destination the way I had hoped.

Also it's not removing the old portal so I need to rethink how I solve this. But I'll get there I promise.

Currently my idea is to just move the portals with that weird Button() function, just have to study that function way more because I don't understand how it works at all. That should solve all issues I currently have .
finally made some progress

Only problems are the portal sometimes just teleports to the gun itself, dunno why but it does. Also it's not synced with multiple players and even shoots multiple times depending on how many are in the instance. But at least it kinda works.

I see nothing wrong with a Snapdragon 835 processor trying to run even a single anime avatar in VRchat. I wonder if this is an april fools.
I really have to wonder what they're going have to do to get this to work. The SOC is pretty beefy for a mobile processor, but it still is pales in comparison to even a modest desktop cpu. And most of that power comes from the fact it has 8 cores, and vrchat does almost everything on a single thread. Additionally, looking at benchmarks, the gpu the SOC the quest uses has something like 5-10% of the power of a 970.
There's no way they can get the full game to run on the Quest. My guess is they will somehow cripple avatars for quest users and limit the worlds they can join to a curated list of small, extremely optimized worlds. Maybe they'll disable animations/shaders/particles on avatars or just flat out disable custom avatars entirely. Hell, the measly 10,000 polys they used to recommend you not go above is actually reasonable for the gpu the quest has.
I'm guessing the whole reason they're even attempting such madness is that Oculus is pushing them to. Prior to VRC coming to the Oculus store, I had heard from some credible inside channels that Oculus had partnered/sponsored/possibly bought out VRChat. Events since then have confirmed that oculus is in the very least a major investor now. Then the official website's source got leaked revealing many references to oculus and facebook, VRChat released on oculus store, VRChat became a "partner" on the oculus store allowing them to push updates without prior review (something that many oculus-sponsored games don't even have), and they started hiring a lot more people. There were also several rumors that was oculus pushing vrchat to change their moderation practices . Whatever the case, it seems almost certain to me that Oculus now has a very large influence over the VRChat team's decisions. And as oculus continues to try to get away from desktop VR, it seems only natural that they would push the VRChat team to move their game to mobile. Even if it is impossible.
The dynamic bone limiter may have been added to prepare for Quest compatibility. I predict we will see automatic limiters to meshes, particles, materials, cloth, etc before Quest release.
So Quest players will only see the barebones, basic models of people's avatars without any dynamic bones, shaders, particles, etc.
And if the polys of the base models are too high (5,000-10,000+), they will straight up be disabled into grey floating dudes.
VRChat runs like piss at the best of times. How they expect to get decent performance on the Quest without turning everything way down is beyond me.
I think optimization is a strong word, since instead of optimizing they're just disabling everything. I don't have any problem with their dynamic bone limits, though it would've been nice if they figured out how to optimize it instead of disabling it.
High fidelity handles infinite dynamic bones, even with cross avatar collisions, and it works fine.
Just ban all anime avatars, only terrifying balloon people made in medium allowed.
Anybody have an experience getting .NIF based models converted to a format for editing?
Just use the blender nif tools to directly import them into blender: Releases · niftools/blender_nif_plugin · GitHub (You may need an old version of blender to get this plugin to work)
