these leaks are the best part of the wait for smash. they're always fucking stupid but god damn how can you not love people spending time to make something credible in photoshop and then trying even harder to take the worst picture posible to make it as if sakurai was struggling to pile drive you away from the screen.
It was obvious it was fake from the start because there's no Banjo Kazooie.
we're getting Rayman, Monster Hunter, and Dante
mark my fucking words, I expect epic coins if I'm right
Sure, but you have to coin everyone else when you're wrong.
I don't have many coins but sure, I'll give one to each person who rates the post until i run out
Monster Hunter isn't even a character, that's like predicting that we are going to get Fortnite as the next reaveal.
I feel like Ubisoft would try and force a Rabbid in as their rep since it seemes like Ubisoft absolutely adores them since the wii days and everyone likes them after Mario x Rabbids.
Monster Hunter is a fighter in MVC:I
they're a type of people, like the inklings, rather than an individual.

inkling & R.O.B.
Does Monster Hunter have a "canon" player like Splatoon 1/2 does (a specific default look used in advertising)?
I doubt that would happen since Sakurai seems to have the final say in everything.
If Sakurai were to accept whatever is currently popular OR just blindly listen to third-party companies, we would have this ugly abomination as Pac-Man for Smash:

Sakurai definitely has a good sense of judgement.
I still think we're getting a Monster Hunter reveal in the next direct, considering they didn't go into detail on what stage Rathalos would show up on as a hazard. There were also Monster Hunter costumes for the Miis in Sm4sh, which seems to be the consolation prize for characters who did improbably well in the ballot.
Hunter, Banjo, and Geno are still my long-shot picks; Nintendo has been really buddying up to Microsoft as of late with all this cross-play stuff, and they've been saying they'd be 100% fine with Rare characters showing up in Smash all the way back to Brawl. Heck, they've already licensed Rare properties before with Diddy Kong Racing DS; speaking from a business standpoint, that was a Microsoft-owned property on a Nintendo console. Meanwhile we've got all those interviews with Sakurai of him saying "Geno would be literally perfect, we tried to do it but couldn't get the rights", only to feature him as a Mii costume last time after they got Squeenix on board.
The pattern seems to be Fan Request -> Assist Trophy/Costume/Stage Hazard -> Character. We've seen this so far with Dark Samus, Little Mac, Ridley, King K. Rool, Inklings, and Chrom.
We could potentially see it again with characters like Heihachi, Isabelle, Shadow, and Megaman X/Protoman.
no, but the most generally accepted "iconic" armors are kirin and rathalos. Same as Simon Belmont having so many designs over the years that nintendo just went "fuick it" and redesigned his old outfit a bunch
There's really no mistaking the rathalos armor, it's about as "monster hunter" a monster hunter look can get. I doubt theyd struggle with design.
A MH character could easily have different armor sets for skins, similar to Inklings.

Huh...they used the same image of Shantae in their recent follower milestone as they did nearly 3 years ago during the ballot. They haven't used that image for any milestones or announcements since then until now...
SOMETHING YOU WANT TO TELL US, WAYFORWARD????
On a completely unrelated note no really shut up, my tinfoil hat is very comfy and sparkles delightfully in the afternoon sun!
In all seriousness yes, I know this another thing that can mean completely nothing, but speculation is fun dammit. One more thing to throw on the pile of potential evidence.
y'all need to learn the difference between evidence and conjecture
If Monster Hunter ever becomes a character, I hope they just make various grunts and cheers like they do in the actual games and not the full on voice acting like they did in MvCI.
My idea of monster hunter is somewhat similar to how Inkling got a moveset, pulling varieties of weapons out of their ass.
IIRC Marvel vs Capcom Infinite did something like that, so I could see it happening.
We haven't even reached Overwatch levels yet where we are decrypting patterns in sky boxes and seeing if there is morse code in blinking.
someone mentioned overwatch
overman for smush
Perhaps, but let's be honest, what is there to talk about really until the next direct gives us an information dump? Might as well entertain silly ideas
Because we did that already years ago

At this point I want to know the full roster not to know who is in, but to know who isn't in.
If a handful of characters were expressly deconfirmed I'd probably have more fun waiting to see who actually gets in.
I don't see any reason a series ought to get a full boss stage without having its respective fighter to combat it
Oh fuck how did I forget about this.
I'm confident in Rayman, but if we get Monster Hunter and/or Dante I'll give you a diamond.
Rathalos is an AT that spawns in that stage naturally. thats how he was announced after all.
It is weird though that he is a stage hazard and an assist Trophy, that much i can agree, but its probably going to be the same with the pokemons spawning in the Silph Co. stage and the pokeballs.
